Andy Cohen on How He Uses AI: ‘It's an Incredible Tool. But It's Going to Make Idiots'
Andy Cohen, 57, runs Bravo. He built the Real Housewives empire. He stirs the pot nightly on Watch What Happens Live. He juggles a SiriusXM channel, two young kids, and the three-ring circus that is BravoCon. He's also the first guest in our new series, How Do You Use AI?, where we ask people with real reach how they actually use artificial intelligence. No TED Talk nonsense, just real life. Turns out, Andy's been using AI more than you might think. And he's not entirely comfortable with it. Episode 1: Andy Cohen—Reality TV King, Talk Show Host, Chaos Manager, Dad. Gizmodo: So… how do you use AI? Andy Cohen: I use AI to answer very random questions and to teach me how to use things I have no clue how to operate, like iMovie. Gizmodo: What kind of random? Andy Cohen: At this point it's incredibly specific, stuff from my son, like 'what's the most dangerous animal' or 'how fast does a cheetah run,' or things we're arguing about at the dinner table. Gizmodo: What's the last thing it helped you with? Andy Cohen: It taught me how to edit a movie using iMovie. I never would've figured it out on my own. Gizmodo: Has it actually made your life easier? Andy Cohen: I'm completely torn. It's an incredible tool. But it's going to make idiots out of generations to come. It's going to inspire laziness and stupidity. Gizmodo: Do you trust it? Andy Cohen: I do. But it's still going to ruin society. Gizmodo: Would you recommend it? Andy Cohen: Yes, but not for anything personal. Gizmodo: Where do you draw the line? Andy Cohen: If I don't care about something sounding generic, I'll use it. If it needs to feel personal, I won't. Gizmodo: What's something AI should never touch? Andy Cohen: Remarks at a funeral. A wedding speech. Gizmodo: Has it changed how you prep for your shows? Andy Cohen: No. Gizmodo: Ever cringe at how someone else used it? Andy Cohen: No. Gizmodo: Your son sounds like an AI prompt machine. Does he know you're using it? Andy Cohen: I'm keeping him away from AI as long as I can. He doesn't know where I get the answers. Gizmodo: You think it'll ruin society. What's the real danger: the tech, or how we use it? Andy Cohen: Kids using it to write and think for them. 'How Do You Use AI?' is Gizmodo's new series digging into how real people are using artificial intelligence to make life easier, messier, dumber, or just more efficient. It's about how the future is already messing with your present.

NBC Plans ‘Today' Fan Festival With Events Scheduled for Fall
Every weekday at about 8:30 a.m., the various anchors at NBC's 'Today' step outside the show's Manhattan news studio to meet briefly with fans. In just a few months, they will get to have a longer visit. NBC News is planning a series of live 'Today' events, a sort of fan festival built around the program that will highlight many of its franchises, including Jenna Bush Hager's book recommendations, Willie Geist's in-depth celebrity interviews, and Hoda Kotb's wellness discussions. 'Today' has in recent months put a bigger spotlight on its food and recipe discussions and launched an app that spurs subscribers to think about fitness. The new concept would surface between October and early November, says Libby Leist, the NBC News executive vice president who oversees the morning franchise, and could include a series of ticketed events that would take place in New York City and a few other locations in the U.S. More from Variety Trump Military Parade May Not Get Much Coverage on CBS, NBC, ABC Welcome, Tom Llamas, to TV's Never-Ending Evening-News Battle Lester Holt Ends 10-Year Run as 'NBC Nightly News' Anchor With Hopeful Sign-Off: 'Facts Matter, Words Matter, Journalism Matters and You Matter' In an era dominated by social media, says Leist, 'experiences are kind of a differentiator,' and can bring people together. 'There is so much fragmentation out there, and our thought is we have this trusted brand in 'Today,' and an ability to energize our fandom in real life.' NBC has sought ways to make the events affordable for different audiences, she adds. 'Today' is the latest NBCUniversal property to test experiential waters. The Bravo cable network has for several years organized a 'BravoCon' fan event, and MSNBC last year held a one-day conference that gave attendees a sneak peek at a coming documentary as well as several panels managed by or featuring the network's anchors and hosts. :'Today' has already dispatched Bush Hager to book events and had Geist interview interesting people like Ina Garten and Nate Bargatze at special events in front of live audiences. The concepts typically generate revenue from tickets, but also through advertising partnerships that weave specific brands and promotional messages throughout the occasion. Like many other traditional media companies, NBCU is relying more heavily on programming that aims to gather large, live audiences. The NBC broadcast network will, next year, turn over two nights of its programming schedule to NBA telecasts as part of a new rights deal with the basketball league. NBCU will also telecast a new Winter Olympics in early 2026. NBC executives felt this year, which doesn't have an Olympics or an election race, would have more room to focus on creating a 'Today' fan festival, says Leist. The aim, she adds, is to keep things going beyond a first year. 'The more we do it, the more we hope to generate interest.' Savannah Guthrie and Craig Melvin, the two 'Today' news anchors, are likely to talk about the festival on air, says Leist, and may take part in a larger event tied to food. Other news outlets have experimented with meet-the-viewer ideas. CNN mounted a series of live 'Citizen' events in recent years that convened newsmakers and CNN anchors to discuss major issues of the day. Among those who took part were Jimmy Kimmel, Dr. Anthony Fauci and NBA Commissioner Adam Silver. Fox News Channel has organized its 'Patriot Awards' for the past few years; the event has even included a meet-and-greet and a whiskey tasting. But the concept has not been tested in such force by a broadcast morning program, Leist believes, and the hope is the concept brings 'Today' closer to its viewers in an era when A.M. news remains critical to the economics of the broadcast-network news divisions. ABC's 'Good Morning America' continues to win more viewers overall, but NBC's 'Today' leads in the critical category of people between 25 and 54 — the audience favored most by advertisers in news programs. Porsha Drops a Bombshell on Drew's Love Life to a Producer: "Can Y'all Take That Out?"
Porsha Williams sat down to sip hot tea with Drew Sidora on The Real Housewives of Atlanta — but ended up spilling some of her own. While the two attempted to make amends amid their ongoing friendship drama during RHOA Season 16, Episode 13, Porsha explained that Dennis McKinley "wanted to make it clear" that he's "not the one" Drew was hooking up with. Then, she casually mentioned "the guy, Black, who you're dating or whatever." Instantly taken aback, Drew asked, "My friend?" and denied the rumor's accuracy. "I would not jeopardize my future with my kids to start dating. I'm going through a divorce,' she replied, referencing her "very messy" ongoing legal battle with estranged husband Ralph Pittman. "That's a friend. Listen, I'm not dating anybody. I don't have a boyfriend. So, for the record, we're gonna clear that." Later, when a producer asked how Porsha found out "Drew and Black were dating," she blabbed, "Dennis told me," quickly realizing her slip-up. Porsha Williams Reveals Why She's House Hunting Amid Simon Divorce: "Getting Anxious" Phaedra Parks Reacts to the Drew and Dennis Rumors: "From What I Understand on the Streets..." Ralph Pittman Reveals Dennis Asked for His Blessing Over Drew Relationship: "Respect" "Did I say that before? Is that new?" she questioned. "Ooh, was I not supposed to say that? Can y'all take that out?" Prior to that, the only intel viewers had gotten from Porsha and Dennis' conversation about Drew in Episode 9 was the latter saying, "I'm not the one hittin' it." When his ex-fiancée asked who was, then, all he said back on camera was, "It ain't me." (During and Episode 10 dinner with Porsha and Shamea Morton, Ralph also vaguely alluded to Drew having "somebody else that she was dealing with," who was not Dennis.) During their ill-fated sitdown, Drew also mentioned internet chatter about Porsha dating a famous rapper to illustrate that they could "throw things out there all day" about each other's personal lives. After denying the speculation, Porsha insisted that her intentions in bringing up Drew's love life weren't malicious. "Why would you let rumors about you and Dennis linger?" she wondered in a confessional. "If you're dating Dennis, you're dating Dennis. But if you really aren't and you're with Black, claim Black. But instead, I'm met with anger, aggression. It's kind of annoying. Like, I just wanna be good." Sign up for Bravo Insider to not miss special BravoCon opportunities both online and in person. Later, when both sat down for the first group dinner on the Grenada trip, the topic arose again, with Porsha citing Drew's repeating gossip about her dating life as an example of why they couldn't move forward with a friendship. When the latter pointed out that she'd done the same to her, the Pampered by Porsha founder attempted to defend herself once again. "I literally brought up Black because the whole narrative that you say you've been trying to clear up is that you [and Dennis] aren't sleeping together, right?" she said. "So, if you're already dating this guy named Black, why did you let it go so far? Just say this is who I'm really with." Related: Drew Sidora Opens up About Dating After Ralph Divorce: "How Can I Trust Anybody?" (EXCLUSIVE) Drew, again, denied the dating rumors, however, telling Porsha to not "throw out … what the streets are saying." Nobody, according to Drew — at least not seriously, anyway. While chatting with Cynthia Bailey in Grenada, she revealed, "I am not dating. … I've been, obviously, meeting people. And it's good to have, like, a friendship, I'll say that." When Cynthia suggested Drew has "friends with benefits," she shot that down, too, maintaining that her "friendship" was strictly platonic and, again, blaming her ongoing divorce and "very petty" estranged husband for why she's avoiding any serious romance. More recently, Drew updated Cynthia on The Real Housewives of Atlanta After Show that she had casually "gone out on dates," but a "real commitment" still wasn't even on her radar. Citing Ralph-induced trust issues, she further admitted to not being "in the healthiest of places to even date someone" or "100 percent available to want to go down that road." Later, she said she would quit the Real Housewives franchise if it meant she and Todd could work things out. The beach day comes a little more than a month after the two finalized their divorce on March 17. Seen here in Miami on April 19, 2025 'I've always said that we love each other. 'It's hard to do these shows on your own if your husband doesn't support it,' she explained, explaining that the reality TV series put 'a lot of pressure' on them. 'I still love him, and we still love each other,' the Real Housewives of Miami OG star - said on the April 29 episode of her iHeartMedia podcast Ay Por Favor. 'It's not because we don't love each other, but it's just very sad that, I guess, we couldn't figure out a way to fix things. And that's why I was in such shock because I'm a fighter.' Alexia thought 'things were good' and admitted she's 'devastated' but 'pretending to be okay' admitting: 'I cry a lot. I stay busy which helps me a lot. I just can't afford to be in bed. That's not how I heal.' Alexia continued, tearfully telling listeners, 'For the first week, for the first two weeks - actually, still today, it's been three weeks, and I'm still going back in my head like, "What happened?"' Despite the emotional turmoil she was going through, the Miami resident tried to see the glass half full. 'I'm a positive person, so I try to think about all the beautiful times we had together -- all of our beautiful trips...' Alexia reflected. It's been very painful, hurtful, and I'm just getting through it.' Meanwhile, Alexia noted that a lack of love wasn't the reason behind their breakup. 'It's just very sad, I guess we couldn't figure out a way to fix things, and that's why I was in such shock because I'm a fighter, I fight right?' she said to Marysol. 'I was never expecting that, I thought things were good, so it's been really shocking and I'm devastated.' Alexia expressed gratitude for the friends, family and fans who've stuck by her side during the divorce proceedings.
