Jordon Forster, 31, assaulted victim Jade Steven by pushing her up against a wall and throttling her and also lashing out at her with the bottle during a violent bust up at her flat. Forster regularly smashed household items during fiery arguments, repeatedly made derogatory comments to her and attempted to control what she wore and could eat and drink while they were a couple. Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad He also racially abused and attacked a child by pushing him on the body causing him to fall to the ground. Forster denied all the allegations but was found guilty by a jury of five offences carried out between 2016 and 2021 following a six day trial at Edinburgh Sheriff Court on Wednesday. Alexander Lawrie Jade, 35, told the court she met Forster at an Edinburgh city centre nightclub while he was playing for Hibernian in 2015 and he moved into her flat within a few of weeks of them meeting. She said within months the relationship became 'toxic' with Forster acting aggressively towards her and calling her derogatory names such as 'a fat slag'. She described several incidents where the burly defender smashed dishes and damaged walls within her flat during his out of control rages. Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad Jade told the jury Forster had assaulted her on several occasions including striking her to the head with a bottle during a violent row at her Edinburgh flat. She also described a second incident where Forster had pinned her up against a wall by the throat and compressed her neck. Jade described the footballer as 'unpredictable' and 'nasty' and said he 'liked to be in control' when they were together. She told the court she used make up to hide her bruises and described living with him during lockdown in 2020 as 'the worst time of my life'. Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad The jury found the serious assault charges to be to Jade's injury and danger to her life. Forster told the court he was currently working as a courier driver and admitted he and Jade had argued but claimed he was never violent towards her. He denied striking Jade to the face with a bottle instead claiming he had accidentally hit her with a plastic milk carton after she had grabbed his arm as they argued. He also denied attacking a child. Following the jury's verdict, Sheriff Christopher Dickson released Forster on bail and deferred sentence for the preparation of social work reports to next month. Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad Forster was also convicted of abusive conduct towards former partner Alicia Dyet when he appeared at the capital's sheriff court in July 2023. He admitted acting aggressively towards her, repeatedly turning up at her home and workplace and accessing her phone without permission. Forster also shouted, swore and called the woman derogatory names and on one occasion seized her by the arm, restrained her and threw her on a bed, all during seven months of abuse. He was banned from contacting Ms Dyet for 10 years and ordered to attend sessions with the domestic abuse organisation Caledonian Mens Programme. He was also sentenced to a 200 hour unpaid work order and placed on a two year supervision order. The defender played for Hibernian 79 times and scored six goals between 2012 and 2017. He had loan spells with Berwick Rangers, East Fife and Plymouth Argyle before turning out for Cheltenham Town and Dundee. Forster moved to Scottish League One side Kelty Hearts and later signed for Lowland League club Tranent Juniors but was sacked following his conviction in 2023.

Plans for new Edinburgh wellness centre approved at vacant Leith Walk shop
Watch more of our videos on and on Freeview 262 or Freely 565 Visit Shots! now Plans have been approved to turn an empty Edinburgh shop into a new wellness centre offering yoga, Pilates, art classes and health coaching. Sign up to our daily newsletter Sign up Thank you for signing up! Did you know with a Digital Subscription to Edinburgh News, you can get unlimited access to the website including our premium content, as well as benefiting from fewer ads, loyalty rewards and much more. Learn More Sorry, there seem to be some issues. Please try again later. Submitting... The application by Marie Helen Fryman Kunert to transform this former architect's office at 378 Leith Walk into an unnamed new wellness centre, were approved by the City of Edinburgh Council's planning department on April 22. The application site is a ground floor end-terrace commercial unit within a three-storey tenement building, situated within the Pilrig Conservation Area. The proposals received no comments on the council's planning portal. Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad There will be minor alterations to the internal floor plan such as the installation of some stud partition walls, as well as an internal fit-out to support the proposal. No alterations to the external elevations are planned, while any future alterations to signage would be submitted via an associated advertising consent application. Approving the plans, the council's chief planning officer David Givan said: 'The proposal is acceptable in principle in that the proposed use of the application site as a yoga and pilates studio would represent a congruous addition that would harmoniously relate to the mixed-use nature of the locus. 'In addition, the proposal would not undermine the overall retail offering of the area by virtue of the application site being in Class 4 use. Furthermore, the introduction of a wellness orientated use would contribute towards the vitality and vibrancy of the locus. 'The proposal is acceptable and would accord with the objectives of relevant policies within the LDP and NPF 4. It would not have an unacceptable impact on amenity. No material considerations outweigh this conclusion.' In the planning documents, the applicant's agent, Planning By Design, said: 'The re-use of the building's ground and basement floor contributes to the areas' regeneration and improvement. 'The business will also be employment-led and provide local jobs as well as work with and support local suppliers. The proposal will bring the building back into active usage and maintain a mixed-use building. 'The proposal is expected to offer a high-quality design, no changes to the external elevations are proposed, and signage consent will be sought via an associated application, if required. As such, the proposed use will not harm the visual amenity of the property or the character surrounding area, including the Conservation Area. Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad 'The enterprise is relatively small in scale and the will be centred around well-being, health and relaxation; therefore, it would not be out of character with the area or result in excessive noise and disturbance to neighbouring residents or business owners. 'The proposal will deliver across all three planning goals for sustainable development, including the environmental, social, and economic benefits to the applicants, and the local community, while not resulting in any detrimental harm to the surrounding area, neighbouring occupiers, or local existing uses.' The new business will be open seven days a week, from 6am to 8.30pm, with sessions running for 45 minutes with a minimum 30-minute changeover, minimising congestion. There will be a maximum of 10 attendees per session for yoga, while workshops such as art classes will host up to 20 attendees. Massage and health coaching are one-on-one. Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad At any given time, there will typically be no more than 40 clients and staff combined on the premises, with typically, 2-4 staff members onsite at a time, including instructors and receptionists. Planning By Design added: 'Activities will be designed to be quiet and unobtrusive, with no amplified sound systems or disruptive equipment. There will be careful scheduling and customer flow management to ensure no overcrowding or excessive noise at entrances. Deliveries will be minimal and scheduled during standard hours to avoid disruption.'

20 photos of Edinburgh attraction The Royal Yacht Britannia's new exhibition and retail unit at Ocean Terminal
Following a seven-figure investment and two-years of planning and construction, The Royal Yacht Britannia's impressive new exhibition space and retail unit is due to open to the public on Monday, May 5, at Ocean Terminal. With the final works taking place this week to finish these new additions at this popular attraction, we were given a tour to see what visitors can expect. Watch our video above and check out our photo gallery below to see more. The exhibits include an attention-grabbing 11-foot Lego Britannia model with its very own Lego yachtsmen, and a unique giant corgi – commissioned exclusively for the new retail experience, manufactured by Rainbow Productions in London. Jennifer Campbell, marketing and PR manager at The Royal Yacht Britannia said: 'This was a substantial seven-figure investment which was two years in the designing and making. 'We are excited to be moving towards its conclusion and can't wait to open our doors on Monday and see what our visitors make of these exciting new additions. 'We did have a visitor centre before, but it was shorter and more basic. We also had a shop which was really successful, but this new unit is 70 per cent larger, giving us the chance to offer visitors much more choice. 'This is a huge upgrade on what was there before, which was needed, as it had been the same for 26 years, since we first opened. This provides a much better first impression to visitors coming aboard The Royal Yacht Britannia. 'We have been in the temporary units for the ticket sales and shop for a year now while work was being carried out. I think everyone is looking forward to coming up to the new luxurious surroundings. 'I suppose this is like a warm-up act for the yacht itself. The exhibition space has many fittings designed to look just like you are already on the yacht. So you get a taste of the history and heritage of the yacht, as well as life on board, before you even get there. 'It's such and incredible ship, on our doorstep here in Edinburgh, so we would love to see more locals consider coming along to see it. And when you visit once you get an annual free pass, so you can come back and not have to pay for a whole year, as many times as you want. 'It feeds into our charitable ethos here, as every penny we make goes back into the yacht, and creating a better experience for visitors.' The gold leaf details and hand painted signage throughout were painted by local traditional signwriter Thomas Paints, while Edinburgh-based company Easter Signs manufactured and installed all the information boards and graphics. Scottish specialist interior fit-out company Hugh Stirling Ltd manufactured the reception desks, handset podium and wooden handrail in the entrance corridor. They fitted out both the exhibition space and the shop with top-of-the-range luxurious fixtures and fittings. 1 .
