Buccaneers Getting Attention As Genuine NFC Contender

Buccaneers Getting Attention As Genuine NFC Contender originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have struggled to be taken seriously as NFC contenders for the past two seasons, despite making the playoffs under Baker Mayfield. Advertisement But now, maybe people are standing up and paying attention to what Todd Bowles is building with the offense as the centerpiece. Baker Mayfield leads a well-rounded offense with a host of stud receivers, a good run game led by Bucky Irving and Rachaad White, and a solid offensive line. For NFL Network's Brian Baldinger, who was at a recent Buccaneers OTA practice, when talking about contenders in the NFC, he thinks you have to mention Tampa Bay. "They've won the division under Todd Bowles four years in a row, I believe it's going to be five," Baldinger said. "I believe this is a team that can compete in the NFC. There's Philly, the Rams, Green Bay, Detroit, Minnesota, there's good teams in the NFC, you can't talk about the NFC and who might come out of it this year, including Washington, and not talk about Tampa Bay." Advertisement And it was one he did, leading the team to the playoffs before being bounced by the Washington Commanders. Now, with Emeka Egbuka as another receiving option, Haason Reddick to bolster the pass rush, and Benjamin Morris and Jacob Parrish to solidify the corner position, the Buccaneers have a roster capable of making noise in 2025. And for Baldinger, that noise will be deafening. Eagles Major Signing is Pro Bowl Stud's Wish

The Justin Simmons to the Philadelphia Eagles train has been running for over the last two seasons. Even when the Eagles drafted Andrew Mukuba in the second round of the 2025 draft, a growing contingent of the fanbase has pushed for the All-Pro to come to the City of Brotherly Love. There's a reason for this, of course. Advertisement Simmons' best years with the Denver Broncos came while Eagles defensive coordinator Vic Fangio was the head coach there. His work with other safeties shows he understands the position well. So it isn't that outlandish to see why the Eagles are the prime destination for a player like Simmons. Even NFL Network film analyst Brian Baldinger understands that. "He wants to come to Philadelphia," Baldinger said. "He wants to be there. They drafted Andrew Mukuba out of Texas, which is good. They've drafted Sydney Brown to go along with Reed Blankenship. There are players there, but no one with the numbers, the interceptions, and really the leadership that he can provide. "They lost Darius Slay. They lost some leaders in that secondary. He provides find him a house in South Jersey. He's gonna be here." Advertisement There is something to say about the loss of leadership that the Eagles went through this offseason. If the secondary doesn't perform well early on, it could be a sign that leadership is more important than originally perceived. That's where Fangio comes in, though. Philadelphia's ability to have a quality front seven and strong secondary is a calling card for the play-caller. And shows why the Eagles don't really need an aging player like Simmons moving forward. NFL rumors: Insider reveals two-time Pro Bowl safety ‘wants to come' to Philadelphia Eagles

Will the Philadelphia Eagles soon be signing a two-time Pro Bowl safety? One NFL insider believes so. NFL Network's Brian Baldinger revealed Monday night that Justin Simmons is targeting the Eagles as his next destination. Advertisement 'He wants to come to Philadelphia,' Baldinger said on NFL Network. 'He wants to be there.' Simmons, 31, would provide significant help to an Eagles secondary that lost veterans Darius Slay and C.J. Gardner-Johnson during the offseason. The two-time Pro Bowl safety has collected 32 career interceptions, ranking fourth among all active NFL players. A potential Philadelphia signing would reunite Simmons with defensive coordinator Vic Fangio, who served as his head coach with the Denver Broncos from 2019-2021. 'I think this guy walks straight into that system, knows what he's doing,' senior columnist Jeffri Chadiha added during the segment. 'I think he gives that secondary a boost with Quinyon Mitchell, Cooper DeJean and Reed Blankenship. This makes all the sense in the world.' Advertisement Simmons spent eight seasons with the Broncos (2016-2023) before signing a one-year deal with the Atlanta Falcons for the 2024 campaign. Last season, he recorded two interceptions, seven pass deflections, and 62 total tackles. He is currently a free agent. Related Headlines

Fresh out of LSU, Jones, with his size (6-6, 280 pounds), appears to be a steal for Denver as it bolsters its defense. In his last year in the Bayou, he amassed 40 tackles (eight for loss) and 4.5 sacks. It appears media pundits love the move on the Broncos' end. In a recent video shared on Twitter/X, NFL analyst Brian Baldinger spotlighted Jones. Baldinger praised his potential as a future NFL standout, in which his size appears more promising than his college stats. Baldinger would also highlight Jones's combination of size and production, noting that he "plays the game the right way, ' to say the least. Check out the clip above to see what the Broncos will work with on their defensive front seven. While his stats seem underwhelming, head coach Sean Payton appears confident that can unlock Jones potential. Related: These 25 celebrities are Broncos fans.

Insider Teases Major 2025 NFL Draft Trade Inside the Top 5: ‘It's Coming'

A little over 48 hours away from the 2025 NFL draft, and there still hasn't been a major recent trade involving a first- or second-round pick. While there has been speculation that several teams in the top 10—the Cleveland Browns, New York Giants, New England Patriots, Chicago Bears—are either fielding calls or making their own to inquire about trading out of their picks, no deals have materialized to the point of trade parameters being leaked by an insider yet. Advertisement However, NFL Network's Brian Baldinger dropped quite the bombshell in a 39-second video posted to his X account, in which he let fans know that he's heard a blockbuster trade that will impact the first few picks is in the works. NFL Network host Chris Rose (left), analyst Brian Baldinger (center) and reporter Jane Slater during Dallas Cowboys training camp at the River Ridge Lee-Imagn Images 'I get these premonitions when we get close to the draft,' Baldinger stated. 'We're basically 48 hours away, I'm just telling you, I feel a blockbuster trade coming in the top five. I kind of know what might happen; I'm just letting you know — this is a tease. 'Like, it's coming, be ready for it. This is not going to be a boring draft. We've got a blockbuster trade coming. There's only so many great players in this draft. Like, I feel it. I might have to release it. I'm just teasing you right now.' It's not known if Baldinger will actually leak the details of the major trade he's referring to, but one could guess it likely involved the Cleveland Browns or New York Giants. Advertisement ESPN's Peter Schrager reported Tuesday morning on 'Get Up' that both teams were fielding trade offers from teams wanting to move up for either Colorado receiver/cornerback Travis Hunter, Penn State defensive end Abdul Carter, or Boise State running back Ashton Jeanty. 'There have been phone calls made to the Browns at [No.] 2 and the Giants at [No.] 3 with the intention to move up from several different sources telling me that there are teams looking to move up in this draft to either the 2 or the 3 spot,' Schrager said. '… Those teams are not immediately slamming down the phone. The Browns at 2, the Giants at 3 — everyone assumes…it's going to go Cam Ward, it's going to go Travis Hunter, it's going to go Abdul Carter. Not so fast. I think the 2 spot gets very interesting if the Browns are listening to a 'godfather' deal for them to trade back and someone to trade up into the top three.'
