The rock icon, aged 77 and married to EastEnders and Doctor Who star Anita Dobson, posted: "My Dad's supportive handiwork for our first Queen tour of Europe... 1974! ! ! As honoured in Stockholm last night. Love to all - Bri." The nostalgic post, which commemorates the Queen II tour that saw the band play ten gigs across six countries in just over two weeks, has sparked an outpouring of love from followers. Can't you just picture him sitting there, drawing, coloring, marking the routes, all the time thinking proudly, 'That's MY boy!'", reports Plymouth Live. A third shared a personal memory: "I saw and crying, I didn't expect than I'm a small girl at 1994 in Russia, my Papa brought me a CD The Works and told 'See, this is a good Music' then a couldn't explain my life without Queen music." An admirer also commented on the detail in the map: "What beautiful attention to detail your father gave to these maps and what a lovely tribute you gave to him last night. Inspiring word." This heartwarming revelation comes hot on the heels of the news that Brian and fellow Queen member Roger Taylor were celebrated with the 2025 Polar Music Prize at a grand ceremony in Sweden on Tuesday (May 27). The musicians were lauded for their impressive careers and impact on music, and accepting the award, Brian May told the audience: "In this special moment, I contemplate how that younger Brian May in 1974 would have felt if he knew that we would be living this kind of dream 50 years in the future." Reflecting on Queen's origins, Roger Taylor said: "When we started our band... we had ambitions, but never dreamed of the journey that was to follow. We were fortunate in the fact that our four wildly different personalities came together to achieve a wonderful chemistry." And, speaking about the uniqueness of the Polar Music Prize, Brian continued: "The Polar Music Prize is exceptional in the fact that, unlike other awards, it recognises the entirety of an artist's career. What an honour to be included in the glittering cavalcade of previous laureates." The evening celebration featured live performances honouring Queen and other recipients, including rock group Ghost who covered Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody with Opeth's Fredrik Akesson on guitar. Adam Lambert, Queen's contemporary frontman, then captivated the crowd with renditions of classic hits Who Wants to Live Forever and Another One Bites the Dust.

The rock icon shared a moving picture of a map that was created by his late father, Harold May, to memorialise the band's first tour across Europe. Queen's European tour consisted of ten shows in six countries which they performed over a two and a half week period. Sir Brian shared the snap to Instagram, where he has 3.5M followers and thousands of his loyal fans flocked to the comments to offer kind messages to the singer. One replied: "Oh what a heartfelt map full of love for you, Sir!" A second commented 'Wow!! What a treasure!! Hollywood star Gerard Butler honours 'beloved' Scottish mother in emotional tribute
Scottish-born Hollywood star Gerard Butler has paid tribute to his late mother who passed away earlier in the year. The actor attended the Brazilian premiere of the How to Train Your Dragon live-action remake earlier this week, reports The Daily Record. The 55-year-old is reprising his role as Stoick, the Viking leader in the upcoming movie. At the end of the screening, Butler's mother, Margaret Coll - who died at the age of 81 earlier this year - was honoured in a touching moment of remembrance. Fans were quick to take to the comments on Butler's Instagram post, sending their condolences to the star following the sad news. One comment said: "She'll always be by your side, supporting you and loving you more than anyone else. And yes, she was definitely there with you, smiling, and making those funny faces." As another wrote: "Awe. So extremely sorry for the loss of your mama, Gerard. I remember seeing you mention a few months back that she was in the hospital." "Prayers of peace, strength, and comfort for you and your family. I know how truly much you adored your mama." He previously told about his visits back to Scotland to visit his mum. I just really connect when I get back, and I find that I recharge and knock out all the bull that's going round in my head, all of that Hollywood nonsense." 'I quickly get that slapped out of me," he joked.

Jean-Michel Jarre to release ‘audio visual record' of his Bratislava mega-gig, which featured Brian May

Jean-Michel Jarre has announced he's releasing Live In Bratislava, what he's calling 'the definitive audio-visual record' of his gig last year in the Slovakian capital. As usual with the 76-year-old producer, it was no-expense-spared all-bells-and-whistles son et lumiere spectaculaire. More than 100,000 people gathered across Bratislava in May 2024 along the banks of the River Danube to feast their eyes on the show, which included a 400-drone 'ballet', fireworks-a-plenty and laser displays. Lots of lasers. Jean-Michel Jarre loves his lasers. Also involved was Queen's Brian May who accompanied him on a new arrangement of Dvorák's New World Symphony, as well as newly adapted works Bratislava Time and Rendez-vous Bratislava. There were further contributions from the Slovak Philharmonic Orchestra and a 19-piece chorus from the Slovak Philharmonic Choir. So yes, it was big alright. Putting it all on involved some 170 tonnes of equipment, 21 LED screens, 150 projectors, hundreds of kilometres of cabling and the largest stage ever built in Slovakia. As befitting an event of that scale, the release isn't just a bog standard CD. Oh no. There's a double CD digipack, plus a Blu-ray which features the 'Unseen Director's Cut in 4K' which has PCM 2.0, DTS HD 5.1 and Dolby True HD 5.1 audio. The limited edition 'Ultimate Collector's Box', meanwhile, features both the CDs and Blu-ray as well as a deluxe coffee table photo book and an 'exclusive' 10-inch blue vinyl of the producer's new track, Bridge To The Future. In a statement, Jean-Michel Jarre said of the release: 'Since that very special night in Bratislava, we've worked with a brilliant creative team to bring together the most complete, cinematic version of the concert possible. The sound on this release comes from the live TV broadcast of the concert, capturing the raw, in-the-moment energy of the performance. I'm proud to finally share this with everyone. Not only those who joined us in Slovakia or watched online, but all who want to relive the experience." It's a recoding of his historic open-air Bridge From The Future concert, performed on May 12, 2024 in Slovakia, along the banks of the Danube, to over 100,000 people, where he was joined by Queen guitarist Brian May. The full 22-track performance is available across a range of deluxe formats, including an unseen Director's Cut of the concert film, remastered audio, exclusive vinyl, and a 40-page coffee table photo book documenting this once-in-a-lifetime production. 'Since that very special night in Bratislava, we've worked with a brilliant creative team to bring together the most complete, cinematic version of the concert possible," Jarre says. "The sound on this release comes from the live TV broadcast of the concert, capturing the raw, in-the-moment energy of the performance. I'm proud to finally share this with everyone. Not only those who joined us in Slovakia or watched online, but all who want to relive the experience." It was Jarre's first ever collaboration with Brian May, who joined him on stage for a new arrangement of Dvořák's New World Symphony as well as newly adapted works Bratislava Time and Rendez-vous Bratislava. Live In Bratislava will be released as a 2 CD set, a Blu-ray featuring the unseen Director's Cut and the Ultimate Colector's Box, which features the 2 x CD, Blu-ray and a 10" blue vinyl featuring the unreleased track Bridge From The Future, performed as the audience arrived, as well as a deluxe 40-page coffee table photo book with behind-the-scenes and performance images.
