MASSIVE £90m sign Liverpool's Alexander Isak deal is ON

Liverpool want to sign Alexander Isak from Newcastle United. Now there's the biggest sign yet that a deal is happening. Liverpool want to sign Alexander Isak but it's far from easy. For one, they've spent a fortune already this summer on some incredible players. Shop the LFC Store LFC Kits Shop Now LFC x New Era Shop Now LFC Signed Merch Shop Now LFC x Titleist Shop Now But also for the very simple reason that Newcastle United don't want to sell. Isak is their superstar - the centre of their team and the biggest catalyst for their UEFA Champions League qualification last season. They're looking to be one of the big guns in the Premier League. Selling Isak makes that more difficult and they've set a British-record asking price. Though, it's debatable whether that's even an asking price. Newcastle have held, publicly at least, the stance that Isak simply isn't going anywhere. Until the last week, that is. Isak hasn't been involved in their pre-season, while Eddie Howe quite openly admitted that things are going on behind the scenes with the forward. . All that stands in the way of it is Newcastle's stance - and now there's a massive sign that is changing. Newcastle United's interests Newcastle are out there looking at strikers. They wanted to sign Hugo Ekitike, of course, only to lose out to Liverpool but the Magpies were always adamant that the Frenchman was to play with Isak. And that's fair enough - but we find it difficult to believe they're looking at both Youane Wissa and Benjamin Sesko to play alongside him. That sounds more like a complete reshuffle up top. Ben Jacobs claims Newcastle have told RB Leipzig that they'd pay £60m for Sesko. They're just waiting on the player's approval, essentially.

Eddie Howe makes Alexander Isak transfer statement as Newcastle reality becomes clear

Alexander Isak's future at Newcastle is now front and centre in the transfer market and Eddie Howe admits he is not the one calling the shots regarding the Swede's next move Eddie Howe has underlined that Alexander Isak is "still our player" amid the uncertainty surrounding his Newcastle future - but admits he's not in "full control" of whether the player stays or goes. ‌ The Swede has made it clear he wants to explore his options away from the Magpies - with Liverpool his most likely destination if he does depart. It would take a British-record fee before Newcastle did choose to sell up this summer however. ‌ Isak is not part of the club's pre-season tour at present and Howe admitted there are no plans for him to join his team-mates in the Far East. Injury is thought to have kept him at home, but the club are equally trying to control the noise around his future. ‌ Howe is yet to lose one of his leading lights since taking charge at Newcastle. The club have been able to warn off suitors when the likes of Bruno Guimaraes and Anthony Gordon have been linked with the exit door, but Isak's situation presents a new challenge. The Newcastle boss said: "He is still our player. He's contracted to us. We, to a degree, control what is next for him. I would love to believe all possibilities are still available to us. My wish is that he stays, but that's not in my full control" Newcastle would demand £150m before they considered cashing in on Isak, who has just enjoyed the best season of his career. He scored in eight straight Premier League games, one being against suitors Liverpool. He also netted against the Reds as the Magpies won the Carabao Cup back in March. It has proved to be a difficult summer for Howe, who has seen a number of his targets head elsewhere. The likes of Joao Pedro and James Trafford have opted for other moves and now he accepts there will be a collaborative approach regarding the future of Isak, who he does want to keep. He said last week: "There's a whole football club that has to make the decision. The ownership, together with the board of directors, especially with the money involved in modern day transfers. The manager of course has an opinion, but ultimately the decision will rest with the board." Newcastle have reportedly identified the likes of Benjamin Sesko and Yoan Wissa as possible replacements should Isak leave. Sesko was recently on Arsenal's radar before they signed Viktor Gyokeres whilst Manchester United are keen on Watkins. Granit Xhaka agrees Premier League return after being 'annoyed and upset' by Erik ten Hag

Granit Xhaka is heading back to the Premier League with Sunderland as the Bayer Leverkusen star finalises an exit after being left angered by Erik ten Hag's approach Sunderland have agreed a deal with Bayer Leverkusen that will see Granit Xhaka return to the Premier League with the Black Cats - two years after leaving Arsenal. ‌ The Swiss midfielder has become a German champion since he's been away but will now link up with the newly promoted side. Sunderland have secured his services in a £17million deal, £13m of that being paid up front with a further £4m to come in add-ons, according to multiple reports. ‌ Xhaka agreed personal terms with the club last week ahead of signing a three-year deal. Sunderland saw an earlier offer rejected but end up increasing their total package by £7m to get the transfer over the line. ‌ The switch means that Erik ten Hag has lost yet another major figure at Leverkusen despite not even taking charge of a competitive match yet. The ex- Manchester United boss was hired to replace Xabi Alonso but has not endeared himself to all of his players. Bild previously reported that Ten Hag made a deliberate effort to give his new Leverkusen players time and space before contacting them for the first time. However that approach was not been universally well received with Xhaka among those to take issue with the new manager's decision to remain silent. Ten Hag only made contact with the former Arsenal midfielder three weeks after his appointment. That lack of communication saw the Swiss star question his future and he's since chosen to seek pasture new. The former United boss attempted to underlined how important he felt the 32-year-old would be to his plans moving forward, but the damage was ultimately done. Despite evidently frustrating Xhaka with his approach the Dutchman, who is out to prove himself after a poor end to his stint in Manchester, had defiantly claimed that the Swiss midfielder was going nowhere despite his agent admitting a deal with Sunderland was done. Ten Hag said: "His agent can say whatever he wants, but this club has already let three important players (Florian Wirtz, Jeremie Frimpong and Jonathan Tah) go, and we won't let any more go," It is the last blow for the Bundesliga outfit, who have lost a number of the leading lights who helped them claim the league title just over a year ago. Wirtz has left in a British-record deal for Liverpool, which has banked Leverkusen more than £100m. Frimpong has followed him to Anfield. Tah made the move to rivals Bayern Munich. With the huge funds raised the German side have managed to bring in Jarell Quansah from Liverpool with the defender highly thought of. Malik Tillman is another of their major signings, making the move from PSV.

Newcastle are looking for potential replacements for striker Alexander Isak, who is understood to have told the Newcastle hierarchy that he wants to leave this summer. He is currently absent from the club's pre-season tour, with the Magpies highlighting a "minor thigh injury". BEST ONLINE CASINOS - TOP SITES IN THE UK Asked about Isak's links to Premier League champions Liverpool, his teammate Bruno Guimaraes said: "He is a top striker, his [record over the] last three seasons speaks by itself, he's a top player. Last week, SunSport exclusively reported Isak had been offered a £32million-a-year deal from Saudi Arabia. However, his heart is set on Liverpool. Earlier this month, Newcastle knocked back the Reds' initial approach over a potential British-record £120million move. SunSport understands he could now submit a transfer request to push for a switch to the Premier League champions.

Newcastle draw up four-man shortlist to replace Alexander Isak as Liverpool sent message

Alexander Isak has informed the Newcastle hierarchy that he wants to leave and Eddie Howe's side have wasted no time by identifying four strikers who could replace him Newcastle have drawn up a shortlist of four strikers in case they're forced to sell Alexander Isak. The Magpies are braced for offers after it emerged on Thursday that Isak, 25, wants to leave St James' Park. ‌ His decision follows an enquiry from Liverpool, who signalled that they'd be willing to pay a British-record £120million for the Swede. Newcastle responded by insisting that Isak isn't for sale and Liverpool quickly turned to Hugo Ekitike, who the Magpies also wanted to sign. ‌ Despite wrapping up an eye-watering £79m deal with Eintracht Frankfurt for Ekitike, Liverpool remain interested in Isak. Although manager Eddie Howe remains 'confident' that his star won't depart, Newcastle are making contingency plans which could have a chain reaction in the Premier League. ‌ A report from the Mail has revealed the four strikers who Newcastle are doing their homework on. Those four are named as Nicolas Jackson, Ollie Watkins, Yoane Wissa and Benjamin Sesko. Howe's side have already made a £25m bid for Wissa - which was immediately rejected by Brentford - while Watkins and Jackson, meanwhile, are on Manchester United's shortlist as they also target a striker. Benjamin Sesko was in talks to join Arsenal before the Gunners ultimately decided on Viktor Gyokeres, who's £63.7m arrival was confirmed on Saturday. Wissa scored 19 times in the league last season for Brentford and with 12 months left on his contract, the 28-year-old is pushing to leave. Watkins is also Premier League-proven, bagging 75 goals and registering 34 assists in 184 top-flight matches for Aston Villa. Jackson, meanwhile, has fallen down the pecking order at Chelsea after they paid £30m for Liam Delap and spent £60m on Joao Pedro. On the other hand, Sesko is a prized asset for RB Leipzig, who are expected to demand around £70m. Who should Newcastle sign if Alexander Isak leaves? Let us know your pick in the comments section. ‌ Howe was asked multiple questions about Isak's future at a press conference in Singapore on Saturday. Asked if the Liverpool target would stay, Howe replied: "I said after the Celtic game I certainly hope he stays and I said I was confident he would stay. "I don't see anything that will change that opinion of mine at the moment - but it's football and who knows what the future may bring? We are in a very strong position financially. "We are determined to be successful, be ambitious. We have got a great season ahead of us and we need to add to the squad and continue to improve. The journey will continue in an upward trajectory and that's what we all want." Join our new WhatsApp community and receive your daily dose of Mirror Football content.
