Commanders will wear new uniform vs. Broncos on 'Sunday Night Football'
The Washington Commanders unveiled "new" uniforms on Wednesday, but they will probably look familiar to fans across the NFL.
That's because the new alternate look is a nod to their Super Bowl era when they won three titles from 1982-1991. The new alternate looks very similar to the uniform they wore during the most successful period in franchise history. Bryan Manning of Commanders Wire experts the alternate look to become the Commanders' primary uniform as early as 2026.
So, why write about it on a Denver Broncos blog? It's relevant!
The Commanders will wear the throwbacks three times this season, including a Sunday Night Football showdown with the Broncos in Week 13. Denver and Washington will both be coming off bye weeks ahead of that nationally-televised game on NBC.
Some Broncos fans have suggested Denver could wear its 1977-inspired throwback uniform to recreate the uniform matchup from Super Bowl XXII, but it's hard to imagine the club wanting to reimagine a 42-10 defeat in 1988.
Instead, the Broncos seem more likely to wear their throwback uniforms at home against their division rivals this fall (but that's just a guess -- Denver hasn't announced its 2025 uniform schedule yet).
Broncos fans will get a look at the Commanders' new threads when Jayden Daniels and Co. host Bo Nix's squad in primetime this fall. The SNF showdown is set for Sunday, Nov. 30 at 6:20 p.m. MT (view the full schedule).
