Orlando Pirates news: Yeye, Sebelebele, Mofokeng, Saudi, R100m
Orlando Pirates have been the busiest of the teams in the PSL during this transfer period. So far, the Buccaneers have signed 10 players, as they seek to once again challenge Mamelodi Sundowns for the Betway Premiership. Earlier in the week, Mohau Nkota left Orlando Pirates after one season to join Saudi outfit Al-Ettifaq. The 20-year-old has had a fantastic season, scoring five goals and providing seven assists in 39 matches across all competitions. On Friday, Unplayable reported that Nkota's former teammate Relebofile Mofokeng could also join him in Saudi Arabia this transfer period. Sechaba Mofokeng, the father of Relebohile, said his biggest wish was to see his son playing in Europe this coming season. He discouraged a move to Saudi, saying it was too soon for the boy to play in the Middle East. This week, Soccer Laduma reported that Dutch side PSV were looking to sign Mofokeng for over R100 million but Pirates refuted the claims. The Buccaneers have already signed Kamogelo Sebelebele, Oswin Appollis and Tshepang Moremi as possible replacements. Former Kaizer Chiefs midfielder has backed Sebelebele to succeed at Pirates. 'I was fortunate enough to have worked with Kamogelo in COSAFA and CHAN. He's a good player with the right attitude,' Letsholonyane said on Omni Audio Africa . 'I'm not surprised to see Orlando Pirates signing him because he deserves that. So he adds on the quality of Oswin Appollis and Rele [Mofokeng]. 'He gives you the same possibilities, but he can even play as a striker. If you are a coach who wants to play with a false 9, then Kamogelo gives you that. 'And another thing is that he wants to win every game he plays, tired or not tired, he'll leave everything on the field until the last whistle, so that's one positive signing for Pirates, and I'm happy for Kamogelo, he deserves this move,' Yeye said. Six Orlando Pirates players at one PSL club
Orlando Pirates have confirmed the season‑long loan of left‑back Yanga Madiba to newly promoted Betway Premiership side Orbit College FC. The 23‑year‑old left-back, who made his debut with the Buccaneers under Jose Riveiro late last season, is back with Orbit for a second spell. Madiba's move to the Rustenburg-based club reveals one of the strongest connections we have ever seen between two clubs in Premier Soccer League history. Orlando Pirates to sign highly talented Bafana defender? Al Ahly were linked with Orlando Pirates and Betway Premiership superstar, Monnapule Saleng. Image. X/OrlandoPirates While Monnapule Saleng and Madiba are the only two players who have moved to the Mwenko Boys on loan this winter, four fellow Buccaneers have been with Orbit since last season. Spotted: Firas Zghal with Kaizer Chiefs Full list: Monnapule Saleng, 27, winger Yanga Madiba, 23, left-back Thuso Moleleki, 25, attacking midfielder Gomolemo Khoto, 22, forward Katlego Cwinyane, 25, center forward Siyabulela Mabele, 22 winger. Orlando Pirates made a major splash in the transfer market by signing Bafana Bafana winger Oswin Appollis from Polokwane City. The 23-year-old from Bishop Lavis, Cape Town, made an immediate impression during preseason friendlies in Marbella, Spain. Meanwhile, the legendary former Orlando Pirates forward, Steve Lekoelea, rates Appollis highly but has hinted at a slight warning. 'I hear people say he's the biggest signing (in this transfer window), but this thing is what kills players a lot of the times,' Lekoelea said… Full story here. Relebohile Mofokeng to join Mohau Nkota in Saudi
Relebohile Mofokeng could leave Orlando Pirates to join Mohau Nkota in Saudi Arabia. Nkota left the Buccaneers after one season to join Saudi outfit Al-Ettifaq. The 20-year-old has had a fantastic season with Pirates, scoring five goals and providing seven assists in 39 matches across all competitions. On Friday, Unplayable reported that Nkota's former teammate Mofokeng could also join him in Saudi this transfer period. 'Unpalayable can confirm Relebohile Mofokeng is set to join Mohau Nkota at Saudi club, Al-Ettifaq. Based on information we've received from an impeccable source in Saudi Arabia, negotiations are ongoing,' the publication reported on X. Mofokeng has been one of Orlando Pirates' best players in the past two years, helping them reach the CAF Champions League semi-finals. He has made close to 100 appearances for the Buccaneers across all competitions in three years and has won four trophies with the Soweto giants. Relebohile Mofokeng moving to Saudi Arabia might not be his dream move, as he was tipped to play in Europe's big leagues. Earlier this week, Soccer Laduma reported that Dutch giants PSV were keen to bring in the attacker for R100 million but the Buccaneers have since rubbished those claims. Orlando Pirates are still in Spain, concluding their pre-season camp before returning to South Africa. Relebohile Mofokeng is expected to return with the squad unless a deal is made in the coming days. Let us know by leaving a comment below, or send a WhatsApp to 060 011 0211.
