Local radio station suggests Bucs make bold trade before new season
The Bucs have been known to make bold moves under the leadership of general manager Jason Licht. He will often go out and take chances on aging veterans that have just enough gas in the tank to make one last impact on a season. Licht will also make a splash move by taking a chance on someone who may be on their way out with their old team after a rough ending. That last one is where people have suggested the Bucs perhaps pursue Bengals edge rusher Trey Hendrickson, but one Tampa Bay radio station is suggesting another move instead. Advertisement WDAE out of Tampa Bay suggested the Bucs send a first-round pick to the Pittsburgh Steelers for their All-Pro edge rusher, T.J. Watt. The team has not been shopping around its star defender, but based on its current roster construction, it is facing a major rebuild ahead of what could be its worst season in over twenty years. Something that may push the Steelers to be more aggressive in acquiring more picks in 2026 could be that they are hosting the NFL Draft next April. On the flip side, Watt is one of their fan favorites, so, as with any decision, a fair amount of good and bad could be discussed with any of it. The Bucs have to at least touch base on this idea, right? This article originally appeared on Bucs Wire: Tampa Bay radio station suggests Bucs make bold trade ahead of camp

Bucs honor longtime member of organization as he rides off into the sunset
Bucs honor longtime member of organization as he rides off into the sunset There is a special bond between players on teams and the people who work within the building. Fans may overlook them, but the people who do the work behind the scenes often make the slight differences that add up for their favorite teams and players to be able to focus on the task in front of them. Last week, the Bucs lost one of those consistent pieces when Rob Julian retired. Not many people are expected to know who he is, which is why Fox Sports' Greg Auman assisted us in that area. Julian retired after 32 years with the organization as the director of of athletic fields and grounds. He was around for both of the Bucs' Super Bowl seasons, as well as some of their worst seasons in recent history. He was also around for several head coaching changes, general managers, but he was also around for the Glazer family. As you can see from the picture shared by Auman, Rob Julian had a special bond with players on the team and he will be missed.

Bucs Star Defender Reveals Hardest Offensive Coaches to Game Plan Against
Bucs Star Defender Reveals Hardest Offensive Coaches to Game Plan Against originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are entering 2025 with the fourth offensive coordinator in as many seasons. Advertisement It's not because they're bad, quite the opposite. It's because two of the three previous coaches were hired as head coaches after just one season in Tampa Bay. After the 2023 season, Dave Canales was hired by the Carolina Panthers as their head coach. Liam Coen took over and after one season with the Bucs, he was hired this offseason to coach the Jacksonville Jaguars. Even with the success the team has had recently - on a run of four straight division titles and five playoff appearances in a row - the team gets very little national attention or respect. In an interview with ESPN's Mina Kimes, Bucs star linebacker Lavonte David said that fact baffles him. Advertisement "I don't know why. We're a humble organization," he said. "We've got a lot of great players. It's good, though, we like having that underdog mentality. We have a bunch of underdogs. A lot of guys with a tremendous amount of talent and a lot of heart that battle week in and week out for each other." David then named both Canales and Coen among the hardest offensive coaches to game plan against. "Liam Coen, going against him. Dave Canales." Lavonte stated. "Sean McVay obviously. That whole tree. Shanahan, you know all those guys." David elaborated about what makes guys like Canales and Coen tough to game plan against. Advertisement "Having guys move in every place, so you've got to be able to get lined up when you're in a certain defense so you don't get outleveraged. You don't want to get outflanked when going against those guys, because they can hurt you big time." Tampa Bay Buccaneers Offensive Star Tristan Wirfs Ranked Near Top of NFL
Tampa Bay Buccaneers Offensive Star Tristan Wirfs Ranked Near Top of NFL originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have certainly had stars on their team over the years, but maybe none along the offensive line as highly regarded as Tristan Wirfs. Advertisement After coming to Tampa Bay via the 13th overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, the 26-year-old former Iowa Hawkeye has made four Pro Bowls total across two different tackle positions, two First-Team All-Pro selections and one Second-Team All-Pro team. He's also been an important part of protecting Tom Brady and now, Baker Mayfield, as the Bucs offense was one of the best in the NFL in 2024. Wirfs has sometimes avoided national media attention and appreciation as the rest of the league doesn't always notice the Bucs and their players for whatever reason, but ProFootballFocus ranked him the No. 2 offensive tackle in the league heading into 2025. "There has been no better pass-blocking offensive tackle in the NFL in recent years than Wirfs. Not only did he permit zero sacks in 2024, but he also allowed pressure on just 1.9% of pass plays — the best rate among all offensive tackles. The gap between Wirfs and the second-place left tackle in pressure rate allowed — 1 percentage point — is the equivalent of the gap between the second- and sixth-ranked left tackles." Advertisement Wirfs is second to just Jordan Mailata of the Philadelphia Eagles, but ahead of other stalwart offensive tackles in the league, like 3. Rahawn Slater, Los Angeles Chargers, 4. Trent Williams, San Francisco 49ers, 5. Lane Johnson, Eagles, 6. Penei Sewell, Detroit Lions, 7. Christian Darrisaw, Minnesota Vikings, 8. Laremy Tunsil, Washington Commanders, 9. Zach Tom, Green Bay Packers and 10. Bernhard Raimann, Indianapolis Colts. The Texas defensive back has shown he can be rangy, a playmaker, and a disruptor on a defense that arrived in the SEC with questions surrounding it. He helped them get acclimated quickly, and they showed they could play with the big boys, and Taafe was a major reason for that. He can be just as impactful in the pass game, as he is in the run, which makes him one of the better defenders in college football, no one is talking about.
