[DOWNLOAD: Free WSB-TV News app for alerts as news breaks] Amber Burks represented a group of residents who oppose a gas station being built in their community on Greenbriar Parkway near the Greenbriar Mall. She spoke at Atlanta's City Council meeting. 'Stop the gas station from being built,' Burks told the body. Burks also focused her message on Councilwoman Marci Overstreet, who represents the area where the proposed gas station is being built. 'I hope you show us that you deserve our continued support,' Burks said. The neighbors issued a warning to Overstreet about the project, saying she needed to show she's on their side in this fight. 'On November 4, as we make our way to the polls, your constituents will remember either your passivity or your active effort as a leader,' Burks said. Overstreet quickly set the record straight. 'I never said that I don't agree with the community. I actually said I was standing with the community.' Members of the community said it was blindsided when they saw the gas station being built near their homes, near a senior apartment complex and near a daycare. They say they have too many gas stations already. 'A month later, they grant a permit for a gas station to be built,' she said. Overstreet mentioned she thought the gas station was permitted in error. She told Channel 2's Tom Jones recently that city planning disagreed with that assessment. Overstreet says she shared that information with the community. 'So I have been standing with the community,' Overstreet said. Residents still plan to hold Overstreet accountable. 'I encourage you, councilwoman, not to turn your back on southwest Atlanta,' said Burks. Overstreet has said in the past that she is frustrated with the project and doesn't agree with it. Residents want a stop-work order placed on the project. They say they haven't been able to find out the status of the project. [SIGN UP: WSB-TV Daily Headlines Newsletter]

Titans Fans Are Saying the Same Thing About WR Treylon Burks
Titans Fans Are Saying the Same Thing About WR Treylon Burks originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Tennessee Titans have been plagued by poor general manager decisions over the last several years. Jon Robinson infamously traded away star wide receiver A.J. Brown, who became an All-Pro and Super Bowl champion, and drafted Treylon Burks as his replacement, who has only played 27 games through three NFL seasons. Advertisement While injuries have largely derailed Burks' young career, he has still been unproductive when he is healthy and in the lineup. He has just 53 catches for 699 yards and one touchdown despite being the No. 18 overall pick in 2022. A recent practice video of Burks emerged from Titans OTAs in which he is participating in drills. The fan reactions to this video was incredibly negative, as they were quick to point out his shortcomings. Several replied to the video with these critical thoughts. "Looks out of shape physically," one fan said. "Why is he still here?" another fan asked. "Heavy and slow," a fan chimed in. "Would much rather try Xavier Restrepo." Tennessee Titans WR Treylon Burks (16).Steve Roberts-Imagn Images "He's a Ferrari with no driveshaft," a fan said. "Looks cool, does nothing." Advertisement "Still a bust, training camp cut," another added. "Can we move on from him already and let the young guys get going?" one fan asked. While these responses to a simple practice video are harsh, they paint a picture of Titans fans who are sick of the team's poor draft decisions. Under new general manager Mike Borgonzi, Tennessee should be ushering in a new era, and it seems like Titans fans are fine with leaving Burks in the past. Tennessee Titans' Treylon Burks returns to practice during OTAs
Tennessee Titans' Treylon Burks returns to practice during OTAs The Tennessee Titans opened Phase 3 of the offseason team activities (OTAs) on Tuesday as they continue to progress toward training camp. While no official details on the day's events were released, some videos found their way to social media. In one of those posts, the video captured wide receiver Treylon Burks working with the other wide receivers. This was a surprise. Just a couple of weeks ago, head coach Brian Callahan said that he didn't expect Burks to be available until the start of the season, recovering from the torn ACL he suffered during the 2024 season. This is a massive step forward for Burks, who, despite his draft pedigree, is fighting for a spot on the roster. The Titans declined to pick up his fifth-year option a month ago, and were quite open about their expectations of what he needed to accomplish even to have a chance at a roster spot. Burks' participation throughout the rest of the OTAs should be monitored to see how far along he is in his recovery. While this was more of an individual drill, he may not be cleared for team drills or contact. Either way, it is a giant first step for Burks, who has been a major disappointment during his time in Nashville.

Titans decline 5th-year option on WR Treylon Burks, finishing off lopsided A.J. Brown trade
The NFL deadline for teams picking up fifth-year options on 2022 rookies was Thursday at 4 p.m. ET. One player whose option did not get picked up was receiver Treylon Burks by the Tennessee Titans. Burks, 25, was the Titans' first-round pick (No. 18 overall). Tennessee acquired that selection (and a third-rounder) by trading A.J. Brown to the Philadelphia Eagles. That trade already looked bad for the Titans with Brown going on to have three outstanding seasons for the Eagles, including grabbing 106 receptions for 1,456 yards and seven touchdowns in 2023. Brown also went to two Super Bowls and won a championship last season. Declining Burks' fifth-year option essentially puts a cap on that unfavorable deal for the Titans. Philadelphia signed Brown to a four-year, $100 million extension upon trading for him and he's compiled 261 catches for 4,031 yards and 25 touchdowns in an Eagles uniform. Last year, he agreed to another extension — a three-year, $96 million package — that made him the highest-paid receiver in the NFL at the time. Burks was supposed to be Brown's replacement and looked suited for that role as a big receiver at 6-foot-3 and 225 pounds. As a junior for Arkansas, he made 66 catches for 1,104 yards and 11 TDs, while rushing for another 112 yards and a score. As a rookie, Burks showed promise but was limited to 11 games with a turf toe injury and a concussion. Burks finished with 33 catches for 444 yards and a TD, adding 47 yards rushing on four carries. Injuries limited him in his second season as well after he sustained a sprained LCL in his left knee during training camp and later suffered another concussion. He caught 16 passes for 221 yards in 2023. Burks began last season fourth on the Titans' depth chart at receiver. He sustained a knee injury during practice before Week 7 that eventually required surgery to repair a partially torn ACL. As a result, Burks played in only five games (starting two) with four catches for 34 yards. No surprise. Titans 'probably not' going to pick up 5th year option on Treylon Burks. — AtoZ Sports Nashville (@AtoZSports) April 28, 2025 Earlier in the week, Titans president of football operations Chad Brinker was asked if the team would pick up Burks' fifth-year option and he replied, "Probably not." That became official Thursday. While Burks is signed through the 2025 season, he might not be recovered from his knee surgery in time for training camp. 'He's got to come in and make some plays," Titans head coach Brian Callahan told "I think he's always had the ability and he's shown flashes of it, but we're just looking for the consistency to show up when it's time to show up.' In the meantime, Tennessee signed free-agent receivers Tyler Lockett and Van Jefferson, then selected wideouts Chimere Dike and Elic Ayomanor in the fourth round of the NFL Draft. The team also signed Xavier Restrepo, a teammate of No. 1 overall pick Cam Ward at Miami, as an undrafted free agent. Yahoo Sports draft analyst Nate Tice gave the Titans' draft class a B+ grade. Tice noted that their most interesting draft pick was Ayomanor out of Stanford. Tice wrote: Titans offensive line coach Bill Callahan might like Ayomanor's film more than anyone else in the building. Ayomanor is a dominant and competitive blocker on the outside who has inside-and-out versatility. He's a big-body receiver who plays big with and without the ball in his hands. He has the strength and ramp-up speed to win vertically and gain yards after the catch, but suffers from drops. Ayomanor is a useful player whose game fits on any type of team. His blocking and all-around solidness will help him see the field early in Tennessee.

Sucker days in Nixa: Crafts and community connections
NIXA, Mo. — It's that time of the year again. Nixa's annual Sucker Days begins tonight until 10:30 and then open from 9 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. on Saturday. The yearly event is held in May in the heart of Nixa, with displays of crafts, art, music, and community. OzarksFirst went to Main Street in Nixa, where event planners and vendors were still setting up this morning. Jim Ed Burks, owner of Hillbilly Kettle Corn out of Mountain View, Missouri, says he's been part of the event for the last half decade. 'It's a pretty good show,' Burks said. Burks not only makes and sells kettle corn, but also pork rinds, but it's how he got into this business that had nothing to do with craft fairs. 'My daughter went to a small school,' Burks said. 'The administrators wanted to do a carnival and I had to find vendors.' Burks said he found one kettle corn vendor, but when it was clear it wasn't going to work, that's when he said he took initiative. 'I got frustrated and I got all of this, and that's how it all started,' Burks said. Down Main Street, Christopher Kinney, owner of Clay Beard Studios, is setting up for the weekend. 'All [these items are] handmade by me. It's microwave, oven, dishwasher, safe, very functional items, mostly mugs and bowls, that sort of thing,' Kinney said. Kinney lives in Galena, but making the drive was a no brainer to be part of the event again. 'It's a fun event. It's been going for a long time and it's always a lot of fun,' Kinney said. 'There's a lot of people coming in, I see a lot of people from my other shows in Southwest Missouri, so they come and see us here as well, repeat customers, and it's good to see everybody.' According to a social media post from event organizers, there is no price to enter sucker days for either Friday night or Saturday. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved.
