Dave Meltzer Gives Match A Negative Rating, Calls It The Worst Match He's Ever Seen
Dave Meltzer calls Minoru Suzuki vs. Butterbean the worst match he's ever seen. Wrestling journalist Dave Meltzer didn't hold back in his review of a recent bout featuring Minoru Suzuki and Butterbean. Writing in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, he called the match the worst he's ever seen. Advertisement At WrestleCon's Mark Hitchcock Memorial SuperShow, Minoru Suzuki faced Butterbean, which had Butterbean, recovering from a leg injury. He struggled to move, the match also had Dan Severn as referee, who was also limited by age. Reacting to the match, Dave Meltzer said, 'The match was brutally bad. It was said that it would have been the worst match anyone had seen this year except the next match happened. Minoru Suzuki wrestled Butterbean do a double count out. This was, in fact, the worst pro wrestling match I've ever seen. Unlike the last match, at least this one the crowd was so sympathetic to Butterbean that they made a lot of noise, chanted 'Fight Forever,' and after the double count out chanted 'one more round.' 'Dan Severn was referee. Severn, who is almost 67, was not moving well. Butterbean couldn't move at all. There was a story that he was recovering from a broken leg. He had been wheelchair bound and terribly overweight, and worked with DDP to where he's out of the wheelchair and can kind of move, but not move in the sense to do a pro wrestling match. They were filming a documentary so he wasn't allowed to lose. In the condition he was in, Suzuki couldn't possibly lose to him. Plus if he was on his back it would have been hard for him to get back up. They did the double count out and announced a double count out. People booed that heavily.' Dave Meltzer gives -459.7 star rating to Minoru Suzuki vs. Butterbean match 'They wanted another round (they were doing two minute rounds, it ended late second round) or at least chanted that way. I do get this was so awful it was perversely entertaining unlike the prior match which just seemed like the crowd was stunned watching how bad it was. Then Severn talked to the ring announcer and I figured they were going to give the crowd one more round, and the ring announcer again said it was a double count out. I have no idea why you'd announce that a second time, and the second time people booed louder because they actually wanted it to continue. This was -459.7 stars, like the worst match ever (-273.15 if you live outside the U.S.). Worse that the Sheik & Volkoff match on Heroes of Wrestling.' Advertisement 'I was told Suzuki was very upset backstage because he had never had a match this bad. The reality is none of this was Suzuki's fault. Butterbean had no business in the ring. The thing is, people were really into the idea of the match and thought it was awesome when it was announced, and nobody had any hopes for it to be good match. But I can't imagine anyone expected anything this bad. The main event was Zack Sabre Jr. & Shane Haste & Bad Dude Tito over Flip Gordon & Hechicero & Michael Oku in a ***½ match when Sabre tapped out Gordon.' Meltzer mentioned that Suzuki was reportedly upset backstage following his match. As he never experienced a match of such low quality match. Boxing cult hero Butterbean leaves fight fans distressed as he gets back in the ring aged 58 after losing 90kg
American boxing icon Butterbean, real name Eric Esch, has sparked concern among fight fans after making an unlikely return to the ring at the age of 58 after losing an incredible 90kgs. Butterbean, a former IBA super heavyweight champion, pro wrestling and kickboxing star, has gone on an incredible weight loss journey in recent years after revealing that he at one stage tipped the scales at 233kg (515 pounds). He credited his remarkable transformation to working out with DDP Yoga, a program started by former WWE wrestler Diamond Dallas Page. Butterbean last fought in 2013, when he took on against Kirk Lawton in Australia - injuring himself in the process. The beloved heavyweight, who has decided to get back into combat sports, stepped into the ring last weekend to wrestle Minoru Suzuki in Las Vegas. The wrestling legend clearly took it easy on Butterbean, who appeared to be struggling physically at times throughout the match. 'Why was Butterbean wrestling,' demanded another. Another fan referenced a Johnny Knoxville quote from Jackass: 'Is Butterbean ok?' In 2022, Butterbean claimed that he was on the verge of a boxing comeback - and wasted no time in calling out YouTuber Jake Paul. 'I'm at fight weight. You'll have to listen to my podcast coming up to find exactly how much weight I have lost, but I haven't weighed this in over 20 years so that'll give you an idea,' he said. 'The big announcement is I'm gonna fight one last fight. It's gonna be one year from now. Jake Paul, if you're ready, I'm here for you my friend. 'Let's get it on, me and you Jake Paul.' Butterbean issued a challenge to wrestling star Brock Lesnar in February, saying he is 'ready to come back' into the ring In early 2025, the heavyweight icon issued a challenge to wrestling and UFC star Brock Lesnar. Lesnar is the only man to have won the heavyweight championships in WWE, UFC and the NCAA. 'I'm going to do it one more time', Butterbean said. 'I would love to fight Brock Lesnar in a boxing match. 'He runs his mouth, he's a big guy, it would be a great fight and something that people would want to see'. 'It's going to be a real fight, not this grab the money and run thing. I don't want an exhibition, I want a real fight'. 'I just had a deal with the owner of energy drink company Lucky Energy, which are going to help make it happen'.

Pinson City Council considers ordinance that would raise pay of next mayor, council
PINSON, Ala. (TRIBUNE) – The Pinson City Council held the first reading for an ordinance that would increase the salary of the next mayor and council during its meeting Thursday night. As required by state law, the raise would go into effect after the next municipal election in August. According to Nathan Prewett of the Trussville Tribune, the current maximum compensation is $9,500 for a council member, $10,100 for the mayor pro-temp, and $70,200 for the mayor. If the new ordinance is approved, the new maximum compensation will be up to $11,990 for council members and up to $12,740 for the mayor pro-temp, and $86,500 for the mayor. The council will revisit the ordinance at their next meeting on Feb. 20. Earlier in the meeting, the council also held a first reading for an amendment to a temporary business license ordinance. City Attorney Shane Black explained that the ordinance regarding temporary businesses states that they could obtain a permit at a reduced rate from the city as opposed to being required to have a regular business license at the greater rate. The amendment restates the ordinance and adjusts the definition of what a temporary business is, he said. A temporary or transient business is defined by the ordinance as any business that is conducted for less than three days and when there are no more than two events or incidents where the business is conducted within the city per year. Mayor Robbie Roberts said that vendors such as arts and crafts vendors usually qualify as temporary businesses. He also stated that the city does not have a 'system' for such businesses unlike the larger ones such as the Butterbean Festival. 'This would allow us to be able to have these events at various locations depending on what the event is and perhaps time of year and level of interest by vendors in the community,' Roberts said. Black further explained a significant highlight of the ordinance, which is Section 5. '[The idea was] that some of the events that you have in Pinson such as City Fest, Butterbean and the like, there are vendors that set up at the events and that in those cases the city does not have an expectation that the vendor will get a business license,' Black said. As an example, if there is a vendor selling cotton candy at the Butterbean Festival the vendor is not expected to get a business license. Section 5 allows the mayor to give exemptions if criteria are met. The criteria includes the brief duration of the business; educational, social or recreational benefits to the city, 'any negative consequences or special events likely to result from the imposition of requirements articles in the business,' Black said. The section also allows the council to override the mayor's decision if necessary. Also during the meeting, City Clerk Marie Turner gave a report on the recently demolished building on 4302/4306 Main Street, stating that the total cost was $7,029.32. A public hearing will be held at the Feb. 20 meeting to consider approving the cost. Center Point Fire District Deputy Chief Al Tinney and Palmerdale Fire District Chief Taylor Hancock gave their reports for the month of January. Tinney said that there were 837 calls, 35 fires (13 structure fires), 204 assist occupants, 14 weather-related hazardous conditions, 519 EMS calls, 354 EMS transports, nine mutual aid given and four mutual aid received. He also mentioned that their training facility will be hosting a recruitment program on Feb. 24. Hancock reported 155 calls, two structure fires with no injuries, and 130 EMS calls. In his report earlier in the meeting, Roberts said that traffic signals at Highway 79 and Highway 151 have been malfunctioning and that the city is in contact with ALDOT to have them repaired. He also mentioned that streetlights no longer working at several intersections throughout the city will be replaced with LED lights. In other business the council: Announced the tentative shred day dates as March 29, June 21, Sept. 20 and Dec. 13, Annexed a property on Mars Avenue, and Approved an amended contract with the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office. Pinson City Council meets on the first and third Thursdays of every month at City Hall on 4410 Main Street. Live-streamed meetings can be seen on the city's Facebook page.
