The most recent episode of 22 Kids and Counting showed viewers how new mother Katie was coping with her initial months of parenthood. Katie had relocated from an 11-bedroom family mansion, where she resided with numerous siblings, to a compact flat. She gave birth to her first child Ronnie with her partner of six years Connor Carter last October, though the journey hasn't been entirely straightforward for the 22 year old. During the programme, she discussed her difficulties with two-hourly night feeds and feeling "isolated", expressing regret about leaving the family home, reports the Mirror. Shortly after welcoming her son Ronnie Hudson Carter, the pair relocated to a modest flat situated just two hours away from the family residence. Katie has found the situation particularly challenging since her partner Connor returned to employment. Discussing the circumstances, she explained: "A baby takes up a lot of room, there just wouldn't have been room in my mum and dad's house for us all. "Last night, he woke up every two hours...I don't think anything prepares you for having your own, I didn't expect this to be me. Connor went back to work today and it is harder, you've got to do everything yourself. "It is a lot harder living on your own. At home you've got your parents and your siblings to help, whereas when you're at your own place you've got to do it on your own. I wasn't prepared for any of that - the loneliness." Katie is a mum of one Katie confessed that she especially misses her mum and dad and feels quite isolated. Later in the episode, Katie expresses how she misses the hustle and bustle of living at home with her numerous siblings. The young mum has been visiting her family home most days, but her mother Sue felt the need to administer some "tough love". She stated: "She was coming round every single day, 8:30am and then not going back until 6pm - I think she was missing everybody." She further added: "Katie coming round to the house every day is not really gonna help her settle into being in the flat on her own. Trying to help her, there's got to be a bit of tough love there." A clip shows Katie out for a walk with Ronnie as she says: "My mum's text - said I can't come round very strange." She elaborates: "Memories like Ronnie's first smile or his first giggle, I'd like to share the moments with all my family, they're missing out on that. Some days I do regret moving from home." Bosses decided to pull the series after just two episodes and instead re-launched the remaining episodes last July as Mums On Strike with a slightly re-tooled edit and premise. However, insiders have now confirmed to the Mail Online that the show has been shelved despite the revamp. A source told the publication: "Wife On Strike was reminiscent of the Wife Swap days when millions of nosey viewers would tune in for their reality fix. "But it just failed to catch on with the audience and was underperforming in the highly competitive prime time slot where original dramas could easily pull in double the numbers. "While the rest of the series eventually aired under a new name, a decision was made to quietly rest the show with no further episodes planned." The Sun has reached out to Channel 5 for comment. In the programme, it saw the wives of the household move out of the home and give up all household chores and jobs. They left the family home leaving the rest of their family to pick up the pieces and undertake all the jobs normally left to them. Wife On Strike bore striking similarities to popular Channel 4 show Wife Swap. Axed Channel 5 show Mum On Strike returns to air in shock U-turn The programme which featured two totally different wives swapping households to see how others approached family life was first launched in 2003 to huge appeal. It produced many iconic moments and continued to run until 2009 when the format was axed. It aired a total of eleven series across its six years on air.
