CHSE cautions students against fraud calls seeking money to increase marks
BHUBANESWAR: With the admission process underway in higher educational institutions and results of Plus II Instant Examination scheduled to be declared, the Council of Higher Secondary Education (CHSE) on Monday cautioned students against cyber frauds seeking money to increase their marks or facilitate their enrolment in colleges of their choice. The Council urged the students and their parents not to believe in such calls and issued helpline number 0674 2300914 requesting them to report such cases instantly. 'Simultaneously, they should report such matters at their nearest police station and cyber cell,' said CHSE controller of exams (CoE) Prasanta Kumar Parida. Parida said they have received multiple complaints about fraud calls to students and their guardians seeking money to increase their marks in instant exam. The cyber fraudsters are also trying to lure students with fake assurance of improving their marks through rechecking. 'The fake calls have so far been received from two numbers 9583477659 and 8918813082, mentioning that they are Panda sir and Niranjan Sethi from CHSE. The fraudsters had even tried to contact a few staff from the Council,' the exam controller said. CHSE sources said over 1,000 students have appeared for the Plus II Instant Examination in June and are waiting for their results. Besides, thousands of students are also taking part in the ongoing admission process at Plus II as well as Plus III level. Though the Council officials assured that the three SAMS portals being used for online admissions are secure, they urged students to exercise caution while using computers in cyber cafes or sharing their details such as identity proof, roll number and phone number with others for form fill-up.

UG, PG first-year classes to begin from July 10
Bhubaneswar: The higher education department on Wednesday announced that classes for first-year students of both undergraduate (UG) and postgraduate (PG) courses will begin on July 10, as it released the detailed admission schedule for the upcoming academic session. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now For UG courses, the first round of provisional seat allotment under phase will be declared on June 12, with admissions scheduled from June 13 to 17. The second round of allotment will be published on June 22, and candidates can take admission between June 23 and 25. The third round of seat allotment will be announced on July 1, with admissions from July 2 to 4. A list of selected and waitlisted candidates will be released on July 13, with admission for this category on July 14. The second phase of UG admissions will commence after the Council of Higher Secondary Education (CHSE) declares the instant/supplementary results of the Plus II examination. For PG courses, the first round of provisional allotment will be out on June 13, and admissions will be held from June 16 to 18. The second round list will be published on June 23, with admission from June 24 to 26. The third round selection list will be announced on July 3, followed by admissions from July 4 to 8. The final list of selected and waitlisted candidates will be released on July 22, and admissions for them will be conducted from July 23 to 25.

UG admission form deadline extended till June 4
Bhubaneswar: The higher education department on Monday extended the last date for submission of the common application form (CAF) for undergraduate (UG) admissions to June 4. Initially launched on April 16 on the Student Academic Management System (SAMS) portal, the deadline was first set for May 20. "On the demand of several students, parents, and guardians, the higher education department has decided to extend the last date for submission of the UG common application form until 11.45 pm on June 4. The applicants are advised to complete the process within the extended timeline," said an official statement from the higher education department. So far, 2.52 lakh students have applied for 2.74 lakh UG seats available in 1,054 colleges across the state. Officials said the schedule for provisional seat allotments, including first, second, and third-round selections and the waiting list, will be announced later along with the admission timeline and the start of first-year classes. To streamline the process, the marks of CHSE board students will be directly retrieved from the board's database, removing the need for manual entry. This move is part of broader reforms aimed at ensuring a smoother and faster admission process under the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, said a higher education department official. Last year, over three lakh applications were received for 2.74 lakh UG seats in 1,059 institutions. The department expects a similar response this year, especially with the new course combinations under NEP 2020.

According to the official notice, 'A candidate, whose result has been withheld/cancelled for mass malpractice, shall not be eligible for Instant Examination-2D25'.
