Chamarajanagar med institute plans Cath Lab for better cardiac care
Mysuru: Chamarajanagar Institute of Medical Sciences (CIMS) has made a proposal to the state govt to establish a cardiac catheterisation laboratory on its premises. The facility, also known as a Cath Lab, will involve an investment of Rs 10 crore. The hospital plans to establish the Cath Lab at its critical-care block, which is nearing completion on its campus in Yedapura, on the outskirts of Chamarajanagar. Speaking to TOI, Dr Manjunath H G, the director of CIMS, said: "Establishment of a Cath Lab will help conduct minimally invasive procedures such as angiography and angioplasty. It will also help in detection and treatment of blocked arteries and prevent heart attacks." Even though CIMS is a 450-bed district referral hospital, it is yet to have a dedicated cardiology block. While cardiologists from state-run hospitals in Mysuru visit CIMS to screen patients twice weekly, they refer critical patients to Jayadeva Institute of Cardiovascular Sciences and Research Centre in Mysuru. Nearly 50% of the forest-covered Chamarajanagar district is dominated by poor, vulnerable sections of society. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Maryland Launches New Policy for Cars Used Less Than 50 Miles/day Bindright Undo As the district borders Tamil Nadu and Kerala, people from more than 148 villages and tribal settlements visit CIMS during cardiac emergencies and for other critical-care services. Often these patients have to travel to distant Mysuru city for better medical and trauma care. With the number of cardiac patients at the hospital showing a steady increase, the demand for screening and treatment of cardiovascular diseases has risen in the last few years. A Cath Lab is aimed at addressing this issue. In its proposal, the hospital has highlighted the importance of timely screening of patients with heart conditions, providing them with efficient cardiac services during emergencies, to help ensure faster diagnosis, quality medical care and thereby reduce mortality. Mahadeva M, the Chamarajanagar district Soliga tribal welfare association vice-president, has appealed to the govt to accord top priority to the proposal to establish a Cath Lab.

Delhi Police gets digital boost: New system to track stock in real time
-How can police officers check if a vehicle reaches the end of its service life? -In case of an emergency, is there a quick way to check the availability of arms and ammunition in stock? Police can now check all this and more, with just a single click. The Delhi Police has established a Central Inventory Management System (CIMS), the first of its kind within the force, enabling real-time tracking and management of every item in stock. With help from the Bhaskaracharya Institute for Space Applications and Geoinformatics (BISAG), the force has developed the application. The Delhi Police's Provisioning and Logistics (P&L) Unit will have command of the operation, while district and unit heads can update and manage the stock. Confirming the development, Deputy Commissioner of Police (P&L) Vinit Kumar said BISAG has been working with the Delhi Police for the past year, and the application has been developed for use across six different modules within the force. These modules cover Motor Transport, Fuel Stock, Arms and Ammunition, Office Supplies, Communication Equipment, and Hiring. The P&L unit is responsible for managing the stock of all Delhi Police resources and their allocation to districts and other units, the officer said. 'Maintaining a record of any item from the stock is a herculean task in a force of over 90,000 personnel. We have tried to make the system easier and more handy for us and our unit heads,' Kumar further said. 'Under the supervision of Special Commissioner of Police (P&L) Garima Bhatnagar, three of the six modules have already been launched under CIMS for testing,' he said, adding, 'The login credentials for the application will be shared with unit heads so they can submit requests before the stock is depleted.' The modules: Motor and Transport: Under this, unit heads can access detailed information about newly acquired vehicles in the force. Officers can retrieve all sorts of data — from the date of a vehicle's induction to its retirement. It also includes the number of times it has been serviced and its performance reports. Additionally, unit heads can receive notifications when a vehicle reaches the end of its service life. Petroleum, Oils, and Lubricants: The Delhi Police operates 11 petrol pumps for its vehicles. All these petrol pumps will be integrated with the CIMS system. Staff deployed at these pumps will be required to update the application each time a vehicle's tank is filled or fuel is issued to any vehicle. This will enable senior officers to monitor fuel availability at each pump in real time. Arms and Ammunition: This module is dedicated to managing the stock of arms and ammunition. The Delhi Police currently relies on SLRs, INSAS rifles, and AK-47s for long-range engagement, and 9-mm Glock pistols and revolvers for short-range operations. The authority to distribute arms and ammunition rests with the unit heads, subject to approval by officers of Joint Commissioner rank. In emergencies such as riots or hostile incidents, if a district or unit requires additional weapons and another district has surplus stock, this can be immediately checked through the system and shared accordingly. Central Supply Agency: From stationery items to office furniture, unit heads are required to update the application as soon as new stock is purchased. In addition to making purchases independently, they can also submit requests to the Central Command System, which is managed by the P&L Unit. Communication equipment: This module pertains to wireless sets, mobile phones, and other communication-related equipment used by the force. Hiring: This includes renting gadgets, vehicles, tents, or venues for policing purposes or other operational requirements of the force. Under this category, more than 80 types of items have been listed, which can be taken on rent upon updating the details on the CIMS.

No drainage & poor sanitation causes outbreak of diarrhoea
Raipur: A diarrhoea outbreak in Thetha Debri Basti of Shanti Nagar, Bilaspur, affected around 40 residents, including children, due to poor sanitation and suspected consumption of contaminated water. Chief medical and health officer (CMHO) Dr Pramod Tiwari informed that while the situation is currently under control, five patients are still undergoing treatment—three at the state-run Chhattisgarh Institute of Medical Sciences (CIMS), Bilaspur, and two in a private hospital. Authorities identified unhygienic conditions—particularly illegal settlements near a stagnant pond with no drainage—as the likely cause. Municipal officials plan to take corrective action after summer. According to Dr Tiwari, the outbreak was first reported on May 26 when 28 individuals presented symptoms of diarrhoea, creating an alarming situation. However, all were treated with preliminary care and discharged as their condition was not serious. "There were no critical cases among the initial group, but we remain vigilant," he said. Preliminary investigations point to contaminated water and poor sanitation in the area as the root causes of the outbreak. Further civic intervention to improve sanitation infrastructure in the area is expected in the coming days. Bilaspur Municipal Corporation (BMC) health officer Anupam Tiwari, who is monitoring the arrangements at the Basti, told TOI that the corporation team collected water samples and tested them, but no contamination was detected. He said the cause of the outbreak appeared to be the unhygienic conditions in the area.

RBI mandates reporting of digital lending apps via CIMS portal from May 13
Regulated entities (REs) will now be required to report details of their digital lending apps (DLAs) through the centralised information management system (CIMS) portal of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), the regulator said in a circular. According to the circular, the portal will be operational for reporting from May 13, and entities will have time till June 15 to upload their initial data. The directions include measures aimed at increasing transparency in digital lending practices, particularly in how loan products are aggregated and presented to potential borrowers. 'The instructions require REs to furnish details of their DLAs through the CIMS portal of the RBI,' the regulator said in the Reserve Bank of India (Digital Lending) Directions, 2025. RBI further said the list of DLAs is being made available on the website for the limited purpose of aiding customers in verifying the claim of a DLA's association with an RE. The list would be based on data submitted by the REs on the CIMS portal, without any further validation check by the RBI. The list will be updated automatically. The new directions are aimed at consolidating and streamlining various regulatory instructions to offer better transparency to customers, it said. Some of the measures say that an RE should conduct enhanced due diligence before entering into an agreement with a lending service provider (LSP) for digital lending. It should take into account an LSP's technical capabilities, robustness of data privacy policies and storage systems, among others. If the LSP has agreements with multiple REs for digital lending, then the LSP must provide a digital view of all the loan offers matching the borrower's request on the DLAs. These should meet the requirements of the borrower. The name of the unmatched lenders would also be there in the digital view. Commenting on new directions Vijay Mani, partner and banking and capital markets leader, Deloitte India, said 'The move by the RBI to consolidate earlier guidelines on digital lending and bring in new measures relating to LSPs is a welcome move. Consumers can expect to see greater transparency and better experience. REs have an immediate deadline to meet — reporting on the CIMS portal by June 15. LSPs have more time — until November 1 — to comply with the requirements relating to presentation of multiple REs to borrowers. They have a lot of work to do to ensure full compliance.'
