CMF Phone 2 Pro Gaming Test - Wuthering Waves, Zenless Zone Zero, Genshin Impact & PUBG Mobile

The Nothing Phone series has made a name for itself with its distinct visual flair, boasting an industrial, almost prototype-looking design for its mobile devices. In the same vein, its sub-brand, CMF by Nothing, features a clean yet unique modular aesthetic with its phone series, which debuted with the Nothing CMF Phone 1 in 2024. A year on, CMF has unveiled its second iteration, the aptly named CMF Phone 2 Pro, offering the same modular case design alongside hardware improvements over its predecessor, like its slimmest and lightest chassis yet, measuring at a depth of 7.8mm and weighing a mere 185g, an advanced four-camera system, and a 6.77″ FHD+ flexible AMOLED display capable of delivering 1.07 billion hues of colour at a 120Hz refresh rate. When it comes to performance, the device packs in the newly upgraded MediaTek Dimensity 7300 Pro 5G processor with an 8-core CPU and 2.5 GHz clock speeds, with the company claiming that this provides 10% faster processing and a 5% improvement in graphics when compared to the CMF Phone 1. GPU-wise, the device is powered by the Mali-G615 MC2 mobile graphics processor, which is admittedly a step down compared to the more advanced Adreno chips in recent phones. In practice, when put through the gaming gauntlet of Wuthering Waves , Zenless Zone Zero , Genshin Impact and PUBG Mobile , the device understandably struggles to hit the coveted 60fps in most titles, but it does impress in its ability to disperse heat and has great thermal management across the board. Check out how the CMF By Nothing Phone 2 Pro runs in the video above, which covers performance indicators, starting temperatures, and more. The CMF Phone 2 Pro is out now at S$399 on Lazada, and Shopee. Kevin is a reformed PC Master Race gamer with a penchant for franchise 'duds' like Darksiders III and Dead Space 3 . CMF Phone 2 Pro review in 5 points: Meaningful upgrades over CMF Phone 1 make it an easy recommendation

Phones under Rs 20,000 often make many compromises. The CMF Phone 2 Pro makes a few, too, but it still gets the basics right (meaning that it has a good display, clean software, dependable battery life, so on and so forth), while putting in a few extras that together make it a strong contender in its price range. I tested the CMF Phone 2 Pro for two weeks and I believe that it is one of the most well-rounded smartphones you can get below Rs 20,000 today. You can read our full review of the CMF Phone 2 Pro here. Here, we give you a more concise take on why it could – and should – be your next Phone 2 Pro: Key specificationsBefore I summarise my experience with the CMF Phone 2 Pro, here is a quick look at the key specifications of the 6.67-inch flexible AMOLED panel with 120Hz refresh rate and 3,000nits peak brightness Processor: MediaTek Dimensity 7300 ProStorage and RAM: 8GB RAM, up to 256GB storageRear camera: 50-megapixel primary sensor, 50-megapixel telephoto lens (2x optical zoom and up to 20x ultra zoom), 8-megapixel ultra-wide lens with a 119.5-degree field of viewSelfie camera: 16-megapixelBattery: 5,000mAh with 33W fast charging supportOS: NothingOS 3.0 based on Android 15 advertisement CMF Phone 2 Pro review in 5 points-Design and ergonomicsNothing says that the CMF Phone 2 Pro is the slimmest phone it has made so far. At 7.8mm, its sleek profile stands out. The phone is light and easy to handle even with one hand. Basically, it is a big-screen phone that doesn't feel sent us the mint green variant, which is a nice departure from the usual colour palette we typically see in this price range, and the shimmer finish adds a playful touch while maintaining a premium signature back panel design of the CMF Phone 1 is continued on the CMF Phone 2 Pro with screws and a small dial to attach accessories. However, swappable panels are no longer part of the product offering.-DisplayThe CMF Phone 2 Pro's display is quite bright, which means you will never find yourself struggling with legibility even under direct sunlight. The display's colours are punchy, and scrolling or gaming feels smooth and responsive. Compared to the CMF Phone 1, bezels on the CMF Phone 2 Pro have been trimmed down, and the large bottom chin is almost gone. There is room for some more refinement, but this screen is among the best you'll get in this and UIPowered by the MediaTek Dimensity 7300 Pro chipset, the CMF Phone 2 Pro can handle day-to-day tasks like calling, multitasking, and social media, effortlessly. Even with heavy use, the phone does not lag while switching between multiple on the CMF Phone 2 Pro is also mostly fine, though the phone struggles a bit in sustaining peak performance during particularly with demanding really stands out, just like all Nothing phones, is the clean and ad-free software. The CMF Phone 2 pro runs NothingOS 3.0, which is based on Android 15. It is intuitive and easy to get used to. Even my 60-year-old mother-in-law had no trouble adapting to it. Nothing promises three years of Android updates and six years of security patches. -Battery performanceThe CMF Phone 2 Pro has excellent battery life. I regularly got a full day of use even with 5G and heavy usage. On lighter days, it could stretch even beyond a day. Nothing's software optimisation plays a big role here, and it shows in how it performs in the real world. This is a phone you can depend on to keep up with your routine without hunting for a charger towards the end of the debut triple-camera setupThe CMF Phone 2 Pro's camera is a major upgrade. The company has debuted a triple camera system on the CMF-branded phone with the Phone 2 Pro. And the phone is able to largely deliver on the hype it created around it. Photos come out sharp, with accurate colours and decent background blur in portrait mode when you give it lots of light. Low-light shots aren't perfect (you can notice some noise and dynamic range doesn't go very wide) and the shutter can be a bit slow. Regardless, it performs better than most phones in this range. Nothing also offers swappable lenses for those who want to experiment a bit more with Phone 2 Pro: Quick verdictThe CMF Phone 2 Pro feels like a sensible step up from its predecessor. It does not overwhelm you with gimmicks. Instead, it focuses on the things that matter – display, performance, battery, and usability. At a starting price of Rs 18,999, and the promise of long-term software support, the CMF Phone 2 Pro delivers great value for money. If you are looking for a dependable daily driver that also looks good, it should be on your list.

Consumers are so spoilt for choice these days, it's almost hard to pick. But our crack Sun Tech team has chosen their top budget mobiles, revealing a slick handset that costs under £250 and a budget iPhone you've probably missed (with 26 HOURS of battery life, no less). 5 Some phones cost as little as £250 Credit: Jamie Harris / The Sun 5 There's even a cheaper option for iPhone fans Credit: Sean Keach / The Sun Too often people tend to stick to what they know when upgrading, rather than considering more budget-friendly options that are just as good. The Sun's tech team gets their hands on loads of smartphones all the time, from the big, fancy devices to the cheap handsets. Technology has now got so good that even the cheaper phones pack a punch, with many of the must-have features you would expect in an expensive mobile. This includes fantastic battery, great cameras and tools that are actually useful to you. Here are the three we recommend buying this year so far. CMF Phone 2 Pro 5 Jamie Harris - Assistant Technology and Science Editor Chances are, you've never heard of CMF nor its parent brand Nothing. The company only came about in 2020 and has shaken up the scene with much cheaper Android smartphones that do away with the usual bland designs. I've not long reviewed the CMF Phone 2 Pro and I was impressed with the rugged look and how tough it felt in my hands. The battery is also really good for a brand new phone this cheap, going well into the second day with regular usage. Apple shows you tips and tricks on the new Iphone 16e with Apple Intelligence So how much is it? A shocking £249. Yes, there are some parts of it that aren't as good, such as its resistance to water, with a lower rating compared to other phones. And while the camera isn't as impressive as others on the market you can still get some fairly decent shots. You can read my full review on the CMF Phone 2 Pro here. iPhone 16e 5 Sean Keach – Head of Technology and Science Every year we all complain that the latest iPhone doesn't look all that different to last year's iPhone. Or even the one before that. Well friends, that's a good thing. It means most smartphones are now extremely good – even if you're buying a properly cheap model, or one that's a bit old. Please don't feel like you have to splash out on the flashest mobile with a four-digit price tag. You almost certainly don't need one. Enter the iPhone 16e, which is currently the cheapest model in Apple's line-up. It came out earlier this year (so you can say it's new) and – to the untrained eye – looks just like the iPhone 16 (so you could feasibly pretend that it is one to your mates). The battery life is wild. Apple says you'll get 26 hours of video playback from it – and I struggled to run it down in my iPhone 16e review. In fact, it serves up four more hours of use per charge compared to the pricier iPhone 16. It looks the part with an all-screen design (including a posh 6.1-inch OLED display that's probably better than your telly), Face ID scanning, and an Action Button that can be mapped to identify a song playing nearby or remind your daughter to feed the dog. It's even sort of future-proofed because it supports Apple Intelligence AI tricks (even the iPhone 15 doesn't have that) thanks to the speedy processor on board, and also includes a USB-C charging port, for which cables are now extremely common. And the upside is that this model costs £599, which is a whopping £200 less than the entry-level iPhone 16. Bargain. That means you can get some very low monthly prices. We covered a Sky Mobile iPhone 16e deal recently that was £19 a month for the phone plus an extra £11 for 40GB of 5G data. And let's be honest: when the new iPhone 17 comes out later this year, you can probably pretend you've got that too. Samsung Galaxy A56 5 Millie Turner - Senior Technology and Science Reporter While I'm an Apple girl through-and-through, the Galaxy A56 5G is a good enough deal to tempt even me. This budget handset enjoys most of what's good about the main Galaxy S25 phones, without the eyewatering price. For just £499, consumers can get a glossy new smartphone jam-packed with Galaxy AI features. The A56 runs on Android 15 with Samsung's very latest One UI 7 on top. That means it comes with some of Samsung's biggest AI tools, some of which only just landed on the much more expensive Galaxy S25 series. Like the magic eraser, for example, which can remove objects from photos. Or, the AI-powered auto trim tool that quickly cuts videos to their best moments. Samsung has also pledged to offer up to six generations of Android OS and One UI upgrades, as well as six years of security updates. This is an increase from the four operating system updates and five years of security updates offered on the A55. It means you get two extra years of not needing to upgrade your device, while still getting to enjoy some clever AI tools.
