CM Punk Explains Why He's Reluctant To Embrace WWE: Unreal
CM Punk reacts to Netflix's upcoming WWE: Unreal docuseries. Netflix is set to premiere WWE: Unreal on July 29, 2025. The new docuseries will pull back the curtain on WWE, giving fans access to the inner workings of the company. Taking fans from the writer's room to major events like WrestleMania and Royal Rumble, the series aims to reveal how iconic storylines come to life. During an appearance on Unsportsmanlike with Evan Cohen, Chris Canty, and Michelle Smallmon, CM Punk shared his perspective on the show. He acknowledged that he's not the ideal person to promote it, noting how he's always tried to protect the magic of the business. CM Punk has mixed feelings about WWE: Unreal 'I'm probably the wrong guy to put on this show to try and talk it up. It is not that I'm so much against it. It's that my entire existence in my profession, professional wrestling, you're taught and you're brought up, and you're old school, you protect the business. It's always been that way. Since the 1920s or 1930s, everyone knew that wrestling was predetermined. They talk about how they didn't know, and how in the 1980s we just kind of blew it wide open. And now we're exposing the business. If you're living under a rock, you don't know, but most people do know. 'What this show is going to do is just show us backstage in our environment, interacting with each other. That's really for the fans. You see it all the time with football shows like Hard Knocks. That's a big one. You're in the room, you're seeing the special teams, Xs and Os, and the relationships between the coaches and players and families. That's sort of what we're doing. We're following suit in a way. It's just really strange, for me at least, because I've always been taught you protect the business, you don't let the insiders in.' WWE takes fans behind the scenes in their new docu-series titled Unreal, watch
Ever since WWE started its journey with Netflix, the company has been more open about their storylines, characters, and overall workings. WWE wrestlers have started participating in more interviews to talk about how the business works and what all goes into putting together such a prolific show. Now to take things further, the company has just dropped the trailer for their new docu-series Unreal, where for the first time ever, WWE will lay it bare for the world to see exactly what goes on behind the curtains. As a kid, you want to believe that WWE and all the gripping storylines it comes with are real, but the fact of the matter is that it is a scripted show. People point that out quite often, but what they fail to realise is the level of genius that it takes to write, produce and perform a show that has been running for more than 50 years. This is what the makers wish to convey through Unreal: to take the criticism directed at the company and its employees for being 'scripted,' and show just how challenging it is to bring everything together behind the scenes. ALSO READ: WWE Raw Highlights: Former world champion returns to save Jey Uso and CM Punk, as Paul Heyman gasps in horror We see the CCO (Chief Content Officer) of the company Triple-H, who himself is a 14-time world champion, explain the intentions behind Unreal. He says, 'This is for the people that think, 'Isn't that just a bunch of guys pretending to fight?'' When you see the behind the scenes, I don't know how you can't fall in love with the business.' All the interviews and the backstage footage shown in the trailer seem to point towards a Drive to Survive-coded show, which will use all the drama present in that ring and office to give the audience an immersive experience. We see superstars like CM Punk and John Cena talk about their journey with the company, and it looks like we are also going to understand exactly what happened with Cena and his unprecedented 'heel turn'. Directed by Chris Weaver, Unreal will feature five episodes, with each episode running 50 minutes. The stars confirmed to appear in the docu-series are Triple H, Cody Rhodes, John Cena, Rhea Ripley, CM Punk, Jey Uso, Bianca Belair, Chelsea Green, Charlotte Flair, and Xavier Woods. The long list of executive producers includes NFL legend Peyton Manning, who has another documentary in the pipeline titled Hip Hop Was Born Here, releasing on July 22. WWE Unreal will be available for streaming from July 29.

WWE Confirms New Roman Reigns Nickname
Roman Reigns is the 1 again. Reigns made his return during the closing segment on Monday's WWE RAW after CM Punk beat Bron Breakker to earn a WWE World title match at SummerSlam. The scene in the ring turned into chaos, as Bronson Reed and Bron Breakker attacked both Punk and Jey Uso, who tried to make the save. Advertisement Roman Reigns walked down to the ring and promptly saved the day, making his first appearance on WWE TV since the night after WrestleMania 41. Fans might have noticed that Reigns was wearing a new shirt that featured his RR logo in a circle and TC1. This has now been confirmed as 'OTC1,' which will be his new nickname moving forward. WWE Shop has a new 'OTC1 Collection' of merchandise, which includes two shirts, gloves, and a Tribal Chief Championship. This name was first reported as being workshopped by @WrestleVotes earlier this month. Sources claimed that OTC1 was how Reigns would be marketed to hype his in-ring return, which is expected at SummerSlam. Who will Roman Reigns feud with? It's unclear what Roman Reigns' plans at SummerSlam are right now. Based on Monday night's events, it's speculated that he could work against Bron Breakker or Bronson Reed. However, WWE has not confirmed any plans for Reigns at this time. Multiple title matches were confirmed for SummerSlam on Monday night. Musician Jelly Roll's tag team match was also confirmed on Friday's episode of SmackDown. Advertisement Last week, Paul Heyman called Reigns out on RAW, claiming that Reigns didn't have the balls to come back and step up against his new stable. Well, Reigns called that bluff and returned to save the day. Now we just have to wait and see who he steps in the ring with at SummerSlam. Check out everything that went down on WWE RAW here. Roman Reigns commented on his return after the show. Paul Heyman did too, although Heyman's remarks were a little more heated than the OTC1's statement.
