Cristiano Ronaldo ‘coming to Hong Kong' but date not yet fixed
Cristiano Ronaldo 'is coming to Hong Kong,' spokespersons for the football superstar have said, as his CR7 Life Museum is set to open in the city next month. The date of the 40-year-old Portugal captain's visit has yet to be fixed, Tomás Froes, a representative of the CR7 Family Office, said on Thursday during a press conference that announced the opening date of the CR7 Life Museum in Tsim Sha Tsui on July 7. 'He hasn't yet decided where he'll continue to play. It will be announced very soon, probably today,' Luis Parafita, also a representative of the CR7 Family Office, said during the same press conference. 'What I can tell you right now – and we know the responsibility of what I'm just going to say – is that he's coming to Hong Kong,' Parafita said. 'That is happening.' When asked if Ronaldo will play in the August tournament in Hong Kong, Froes declined to reveal the star's schedule, saying it would be 'surprise [upon] surprise.' Ronaldo's schedule will be arranged after the footballer decides which team he will play for in the next season, Parafita said. According to the BBC, Ronaldo is close to agreeing to a new contract with Saudi club Al-Nassr, which he has played for since January 2023. Ronaldo posted on social media last month, saying that 'this chapter is over' following Al-Nassr's defeat by Al-Fateh to finish third in the Saudi Pro League. His contract with the club is due to expire at the end of June. Al-Nassr will be one of four Saudi Arabian teams playing in Hong Kong between August 19 and 23 for the Saudi Super Cup, a pre-season tournament of the Saudi Pro League. Second museum The museum, to be located in the K11 Musea shopping mall in Tsim Sha Tsui, will cover an area of 12,000 square feet and feature trophies from Ronaldo's football career, as well as exhibits from his life. It is the second instalment of the CR7 Museum, after the first one opened in 2013 in Ronaldo's birthplace, Funchal, Portugal. Unlike its Portuguese precursor, the Hong Kong museum is set to run for only a year. Organisers expect the Hong Kong museum will attract more than two million visitors. Having scored more than 900 career goals for his clubs and Portugal, Ronaldo is widely considered one of the greatest football players in history.

The Portuguese football star will also visit the city at some point when his museum is up and running in the K11 Musea shopping centre in Tsim Sha Tsui, they said. It is scheduled to open on July 7. According to Luis Parafita, one of the 40-year-old's representatives, Hong Kong was a 'natural' choice. 'This is the door to Asia. We have a huge fan base here,' he said. 'The connection that Cristiano already has with China and Asia is huge. 'Every year, he comes to this region of the world, so this was a natural selection, this [place] was very natural for us to choose.' Parafita said there were requests 'from all over the world' to host the museum, after the three-month test two years ago of a small museum in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, where Ronaldo plays for Al-Nassr. 'We understood that the fans expected much more, and now we have created here the first one that will travel to other places,' he said.

Visiting to discuss the player's museum, set to open in the city in July, representative says announcement is imminent Cristiano Ronaldo could have his future signed and sealed within hours, his representative said in Hong Kong on Thursday, amid reports that the Portuguese was close to agreeing a contract extension with Saudi Arabian club Al-Nassr. Speaking at a press conference about the player's CR7 Life Museum in Hong Kong, which will open in the K11 Musea shopping centre in Tsim Sha Tsui on July 7, Ronaldo's representative said an announcement was imminent. Asked whether the 40-year-old Ronaldo had made a decision about his future, with his Al-Nassr deal expiring at the end of this month, Tomas Froes said: 'It will be announced very soon, probably today.' The BBC has reported that the Portugal captain could extend his stint at Al-Nassr by two years. It came after Al-Nassr's Italian manager Stefano Pioli left the Saudi side on Wednesday. No reason was given by Al-Nassr, but Pioli, who took over last September after Luis Castro was dismissed over poor results, has been linked with a return to Italian club Fiorentina. Ronaldo paid tribute to his former manager on social media, writing 'thanks for everything'. Having joined Al-Nassr in 2023 after leaving Manchester United, Ronaldo has scored 99 goals in 111 appearances for the Saudi club, including 35 in 41 matches last season to earn the league's golden boot award. Hong Kong ramps up tourist offerings to greet summer holidays
