Report: Nets may trade Cam Johnson and 19th pick to get Lottery pick
Report: Nets may trade Cam Johnson and 19th pick to get Lottery pick The Brooklyn Nets came away from the 2025 NBA Draft Lottery hoping to get the first overall pick that would allow them to take Duke forward Cooper Flagg to begin their rebuild with a hot start. Unfortunately for Brooklyn, they came away from the Lottery with the eighth overall pick, but it looks like they are trying to take the Draft into their own hands. Per NetsDaily on Wednesday via X, the Nets "may want to move up from #19 to the lottery, offering CamJ and #19 to Raptors or Rockets for either Raps 9th or Rockets 10th plus a bad contract." Since the Lottery passed, there has been consistent reporting alluding to the possibility of Brooklyn trying to shake things up by either using their best pick to move up or by getting another Lottery pick. "That would give Nets two picks in top 10 (presupposing neither team would need picks for Giannis trade.)," NetsDaily's post continued. Nets forward Cam Johnson has been consistently brought up in trade rumors ever since last offseason when the Nets began their rebuild by trading Mikal Bridges to the New York Knicks in exchange for draft picks, but it seems like these reports about Brooklyn and the Draft are increasing in frequency. Brian Lewis of the New York Post reported in May that "there is a sentiment around the league the Nets could look to land a second lottery pick by consolidating and packaging some combination of Johnson, those picks at the end of the first round and/or future draft capital." This report followed one by NBA insider Jake Fischer in which the belief among rival teams is that the Nets are going to attempt to trade up in the Draft. When it comes to the term "bad contract," it will be interesting to see what that means for either the Toronto Raptors, who have the ninth overall pick, or the Houston Rockets, who have the 10th overall pick. Johnson, who is slated to make $20.5 million for the 2025-26 season, could potentially get Brooklyn someone like center Jakob Poeltl or forward RJ Barrett from the Raptors or players like forwards Jabari Smith Jr. or Dillon Brooks from the Rockets.

NBA Rumors: Nets Could Steal 76ers' Star In Free Agency
NBA Rumors: Nets Could Steal 76ers' Star In Free Agency originally appeared on Fadeaway World. The Philadelphia 76ers are in a concerning position heading into the 2025-26 season. While they feature several talented players on their roster, they may have a difficult time retaining them due to their prevailing cap space issues. Advertisement One particular player that may cause the 76ers some trouble is their guard Quentin Grimes. The 25-year-old has shown a lot of upside, thus demanding a lot of attention from teams in the offseason. As a restricted free agent, Philadelphia may not have the resources required to retain him in the case he is presented with a big offer sheet, as is expected from the Brooklyn Nets. The Nets have an incredible amount of cap space heading into next season. With the first apron expected to be at roughly $195 million, Brooklyn has more than enough money to present to the 76ers' rising star to sign him. Grimes was earning $12.4 million in the final year of his contract, a paltry sum when considering his ceiling. Although the guard only played in 28 games for Philadelphia last season, he displayed all the makings of a star, averaging 21.9 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 4.5 assists. These numbers only look better when considering that he recorded shooting splits of 46.9% from the field and 37.3% from beyond the arc. Advertisement Brooklyn's interest in Grimes could be justified in many ways. The 25-year-old appears to be the ideal partner for Nets guard Cam Thomas, potentially forming one of the most lethal young scoring duos in the league. Additionally, the 76ers guard has also shown an ability to make plays on his own, thus helping players such as Cam Johnson on the wing and Nic Claxton in the paint get more scoring opportunities. The only obstacle in Brooklyn's approach is whether Philadelphia intends to prioritize matching any offer presented for Grimes. The 76ers will be facing some major issues with cap space heading into the offseason. Their trio of Joel Embiid, Paul George, and Tyrese Maxey eats up a majority of their cap space next season. While Maxey is gifted in his own right, the team has a solid backcourt partner for him in Jared McCain, their rookie who showed flashes of brilliance during the season. Advertisement In this regard, Philadelphia may simply opt not to re-sign Grimes, showing faith in McCain's development. However, signing Grimes would also see the 76ers potentially lose their full non-taxpayer MLE, forcing them into a bit of a corner when it comes to signing other key players. The offseason will require the 76ers to strategize their moves for the upcoming season very carefully, especially considering their No. 3 pick in the upcoming draft. Meanwhile, the Nets may also need to take stock of their situation. With players like Claxton, Cam Johnson, and Day'Ron Sharpe being mentioned in trade rumors, Brooklyn may have to reposition their team accordingly. Report: Nets may use Cam Johnson in trade for another 2025 NBA Draft Lottery pick
Report: Nets may use Cam Johnson in trade for another 2025 NBA Draft Lottery pick The Brooklyn Nets have four first-round picks in the upcoming 2025 NBA Draft and while that is an enviable amount of bites at the apple, their first pick is eighth overall. With Brooklyn still in the early stages of its rebuild, there is the thought that they want to bring in as much young talent as possible and it sounds like they're thinking big. "There is a sentiment around the league the Nets could look to land a second lottery pick by consolidating and packaging some combination of Johnson, those picks at the end of the first round and/or future draft capital," Brian Lewis of the New York Post wrote when discussing forward Cam Johnson. What makes this report interesting is that NBA insider Jake Fischer reported earlier this month that the Nets were regarded as a team that would try to move up in June's Draft. The reporting prior to the Draft suggests that Johnson may not be getting too comfortable heading into his fourth season in Brooklyn, assuming he is on the roster for the beginning of the regular season. Johnson, 29, was the subject of many trade rumors last season after the Nets traded Mikal Bridges to the New York Knicks last summer for a bevy of draft picks. Johnson is coming off his best season in his six-year NBA career after averaging 18.8 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 3.4 assists per game while shooting 47.5% from the field and 39.0% from three-point land. However, despite the fact that Johnson seems to be improving under head coach Jordi Fernandez, Brooklyn still has to consider if someone like Johnson is more valuable to the franchise as a player or as a trade asset. It's unknown what kind of pick the Nets would be able to get by using Johnson, but if they were going to use their picks from this Draft, the 19th, 26th, and 27th overall picks, they may have to use everything other than No. 8 to move up into the Lottery. Johnson has two years and $43 million left on his deal so any team acquiring him wouldn't need to a boatload of cap space to make the trade work.

Lions Best Everblades In ECF Game 5
The Trois-Rivieres Lions are one win away from punching their ticket to the Kelly Cup Final for the first time in franchise history. Trois-Rivieres took a 3-2 lead in the Eastern Conference Finals Saturday with a 3-1 win over the Florida Everblades at Colisee Videotron. The Lions, who were shut out in Game 4, were more aggressive in their approach during Game 5. They took control almost from the opening faceoff, generating several high-danger chances. Florida had some opportunities too, including two shots that hit the post during a power play. The Lions finally broke through against Everblades goaltender Cam Johnson when Tyler Hylland finally broke the deadlock with the Lions' first goal in two games at the 14:47 mark of the first period. Early in the middle frame, the Everblades tied the game on a power-play goal from Oliver Chau, scored just 12 seconds into a penalty to Jakov Novak. Trois-Rivières responded with consistent pressure, directing 14 shots at Johnson in the period. Meanwhile, the Everblades only managed two shots on goal in the frame, and the score remained even heading into the final period. The Lions struck early in the third, with Chris Jandric scoring a power-play goal at the 1:04 mark to restore the lead. From there, head coach Ron Choules' squad tightened up defensively and allowed very few quality chances. Florida attempted to mount an attack by outshooting the Lions 11-10 in the final frame, but couldn't get anything past netminder Luke Cavallin. Alex Beaucage sealed the win with an empty-net goal late in regulation, completing the 3-1 victory and putting the three-time Kelly Cup champions on the brink of playoff elimination. Cavallin stopped 20 shots to earn the victory, while Everblades goalie Cam Johnson saved 30 in the loss. The Toledo Walleye punched their ticket to the Kelly Cup Final with a win over Kansas City on Saturday, taking the Western Conference Finals series 4-1. They now await the winner of the Eastern Conference Finals. Game 6 will take place Tuesday night at Hertz Arena in Estero, Florida. Puck drop is set for 7:30 Pm ET. If a Game 7 is necessary, that will also be played in Estero on Wednesday at that same time.

Could the Nets trade Cam Johnson to 76ers prior to 2025 NBA Draft?
Could the Nets trade Cam Johnson to 76ers prior to 2025 NBA Draft? The Brooklyn Nets have four first-round picks to use in the upcoming 2025 NBA Draft, but they did come away from the Lottery with the disappointing result of the No. 8 overall pick. While Brooklyn could select a player at that spot that would likely make an impact for the Nets, there is a possibility of them trying to trade up in the Draft for a player with a more dependable profile. If the Nets stay with the eighth overall pick in the Draft, they would probably be looking at players like Maryland center Derik Queen, Duke forward Kon Knueppel, and French forward Noa Essengue, just to name a few. Any of those players would be a good selection at that position, but Brooklyn could be more interested in someone like Rutgers forward Ace Bailey or Baylor guard VJ Edgecombe. For Brooklyn to get the chance of taking Bailey or Edgecombe, they would likely have to end up with a top-4 pick. The good news is that the Philadelphia 76ers may be willing to part with the No. 3 pick in the Draft, but it would most likely come down to what the deal looks like. Sixers Wire's Ky Carlin gave his take on what it would cost for Philadelphia to move off the third overall pick: Why would the Sixers be interested in Cam Johnson? Ky Carlin, Sixers Wire: The Sixers have stated in the past that they plan on making a selection at No. 3, and it makes sense when considering they do need an injection of youth to this roster, but plans change. I wonder that if Cam Johnson is truly available, the Sixers would love to put a bid in for him. He shot 39% from deep on high volume (7.2 attempts) and is a good fit as a catch-and-shoot player for Philadelphia. One has to believe the Sixers would be interested. Also, the Sixers would still be acquiring some sort of draft pick from the Nets so they would still be able to nab a younger piece. Sharif Philips-Keaton, Nets Wire: The Sixers would be one of many teams interested in Johnson, especially since he's coming off the best season of his career. Philadelphia put together a roster that theoretically should have been a competitor on paper, but injuries to Joel Embiid and Paul George put a damper on those dreams. Johnson isn't the healthiest guy that the Sixers could trade for, but played through a lot of nicks and bruises to suit up for 57 games. What would a potential deal look like? Ky: This is where things get tricky. Of course, it would involve swapping the No. 3 pick to Brooklyn for the No. 8 pick (or some combination of picks 19 and 27), but Johnson makes $20 million in 2025-26 so the money would be a bit tough to match. The Sixers could send some combination of Kelly Oubre Jr. and Andre Drummond–assuming both players opt into their player options–and another player, probably Eric Gordon, but it would be tough to get done. Plus, swapping these picks would save about $5-to-8 million and create some more wiggle room to bring back Quentin Grimes and Guerschon Yabusele in free agency. Sharif: The Nets may want to use assets other than Johnson to sweeten the deal, but if they were willing to use him to get the third overall pick, Brooklyn could also open up a starting role for another young player. Oubre and Drummond would make the money work and they would get a path to playing time in Brooklyn for the most part. It's possible that the Nets could be interested in a reunion with Lonnie Walker IV, but that would depend on what the guard rotation looks like. Why would the Nets want to do this type of deal? Ky: They want to move up, don't they? The Nets just finished the first year of a rebuild while the Sixers still have their eyes on contention. The idea of the Sixers getting younger sounds good on paper, but when's the last time a team won a championship with a rookie being a key contributor in the rotation? Philadelphia should be looking into adding a win-now type of player and Johnson makes sense for them. The Nets should be looking to add a top 3 pick in this draft to accelerate the rebuild a bit. Sharif: Reportedly, the Nets are expected to find a way to trade up in this draft and the Dallas Mavericks are expected to take Cooper Flagg with the first overall pick and go from there. The San Antonio Spurs may be a trade partner, but they would probably want more than Johnson and the eighth overall pick for the right to select Dylan Harper. The Sixers are most likely the best candidate for the Nets to trade with and Philadelphia has a way to make the money work in a Johnson trade that wouldn't saddle Brooklyn with players whose contracts last beyond the 2025-26 season. The Nets would probably be looking for a trade like this.
