Is Titans QB Cam Ward the NFL's most 'forgotten prospect?

Is Titans QB Cam Ward the NFL's most 'forgotten prospect? Cam Ward, the No. 1 overall draft pick in the 2025 NFL draft, has largely been overlooked by the entire NFL. Even on draft day, the media was more focused on what was happening with Shedeur Sanders than on talking to a guy who was a zero-star recruit out of high school that turned into the top passer in his draft class. But, that's okay with Ward, he always operates with a chip on his shoulder and this only adds fuel to the fire. The Tennessee Titans future franchise quarterback isn't being overlooked by everyone, though. Kyle Brandt has ranted on the lack of coverage of Cam Ward on multiple occasions, and now Bleacher Report named him a top-five candidate for Offensive Rookie of the Year. It is rare to see the first overall pick become the forgotten prospect from his draft class. Well, that is precisely what's happening to Tennessee Titans quarterback Cam Ward. The most gifted thrower in the 2025 class has rarely been discussed since the rookie minicamp began. The Titans are in a rebuilding phase, and Ward is essential to any turnaround. That being said, it is questionable if the team has enough offensive talent around Ward to reap the full benefits of his abilities. Ward transferred to Miami from Washington State ahead of the 2024 college football season and ended up elevating the Hurricanes to a near-ACC championship and College Football Playoff berth. He is accustomed to elevating an average supporting cast and receiving corps. Ward is tasked with repeating this in Tennessee, as Calvin Ridley is his only above-average target. The weapons around Ward are young and unproven, including three rookie wide receivers and rookie tight end Gunnar Helm. History says don't count him out, but he'll need a magical debut to overcome the roster's limitations. Bleacher Report may have added Ward to this list, but they clearly don't think he should be there based on this write-up. It's almost as if it was an obligatory add in case he comes out and shocks the NFL the way Jayden Daniels did last year, a half-hearted inclusion. The Titans don't have a lot of big names or guys you might consider superstars at their positions. What they do have is consistent and reliable players, plus added some veterans to the offensive line. Tennessee is absolutely in a rebuild, and expectations should be modest for Ward, but let's not count out what the Titans have done to provide him with weapons and protection. Despite the undertone of the comments, Ward should definitely be included in this conversation because he has just as much of a chance to blow expectations out of the water as any other rookie.

Preseason game between Tennessee Titans and Minnesota Vikings will be nationally televised

The NFL announced Thursday that five preseason games will be nationally televised in 2025, and, surprisingly, the final one on the schedule will feature the Tennessee Titans. In Week 3, the Tennessee Titans will host the Minnesota Vikings at Nissan Stadium in Nashville, Tennessee. The game will be played under the lights and broadcast on CBS at 8:00 p.m. ET on Friday, August 22. After being shut out of the primetime schedule on the 2025 NFL regular season schedule, the league decided to spotlight the Titans on the final Friday of the preseason. The biggest question is, will Cam Ward see much action? The final week of the preseason is usually reserved for those fighting for roster spots, but in 2024, the Titans game-planned for the preseason finale and played most of their starters for an extended stretch. Advertisement This presents an interesting situation for head coach Brian Callahan, who will have to weigh several factors. With Ward being a rookie, he will need as many reps as possible before traveling to Denver for the season opener. But what other offensive starters should play with him, and for how long? Luckily, the Vikings will also likely have a young, inexperienced quarterback under center in J.J. McCarthy, making this an intriguing battle. This may also be the only time the national television audience will have the opportunity to see Ward in action. After the lack of coverage on Ward and the Titans throughout the offseason, Callahan might want to send a message that the Titans deserve more coverage. Can Cam Ward change the culture in Tennessee?

Can Cam Ward change the culture in Tennessee? | Inside Coverage Jason Fitz, Charles Robinson, and Frank Schwab share their thoughts on the Tennessee Titans and if Cam Ward can come in and be a bright spot for the team long term. Hear the full conversation on 'Inside Coverage' - and subscribe on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, YouTube or wherever you listen. View more Video Transcript I'm wise of this team, but to an extent, I don't think they're going to win a ton of games. Advertisement They're not the 2023 Texans. They're not the 2024 command. Where are you on the under 5, 5.5. Where are you at? I can see them getting the 6. I mean just because there's there's soft spots in their schedule and but it's going to be close. Like they might win 5, they might win 6. There's going to be some coin flip game in there that determines it. So I don't think they're going to be good, but I do believe in Cam Ward. Like you talked about Charles, I think they get to the end of the season and they're like, we got a dude at quarterback. Let's get to work building this roster. And that's the difference between last year. Advertisement Last year I was like, uh, Will Levis, maybe he had some flashes, but, and it quickly fell apart there, right? Obviously. Cam Ward, I think, gives them hope for the future, and I think he's gonna play like that. He has played well everywhere he's gone. I like the fact that he was in 3 different programs in college and succeeded in all of them. He's kind of from a zero star recruit to. Number one pick of the draft. I like that path for him. He's already been on the bottom. He's dragged himself to be, uh, you know, the again, the first pick of the NFL draft. So I that that's the one thing. The Titans roster really is not good. Advertisement They're a pretty boring team, trust me. I've already written the preview. It's not that exciting for the Tennessee Titans except a quarterback where I think that we're gonna feel pretty good about the trajectory of the Titans going forward because of that one dude. I think Cam Ward's gonna have a really nice rookie season. Another guy I thought real quick, one other thing too with the Titans. And I only bring this up because somebody said it to me the other day, they were talking about, uh, like the, the Titans draft and well, a couple of different teams drafts or whatever. And uh it was it was another personnel man, and he really liked the Texas tight end they drafted, Gunner Helm, like he was like, man, he's like, he's like, I think they might have actually gotten a dude. Advertisement And people are going to be stunned that that guy's gonna end up being a really great tight end in the NFL. And I, I don't know why that just stuck out in my mind. So maybe it's not just Cam. Maybe, maybe it's, it's, it's Cam doing well, but also maybe it's a draft class where you're like, OK, they got a good draft class under their belt, like, this is how you do it. This is how you start to build that foundation. Uh, by the way, Gunner Holm, I drafted in one of my, uh, fantasy leagues when we did our one of our dynasty leagues. Uh, I just drafted him. I can't wait to tell this guy fits. I know, and now he's gonna be feel reaffirmed. Advertisement Uh, so I thought the Titans were gonna be a top 3 pick in the draft last year. I thought they were gonna suck. I am in repeat on the Titans. Uh, I don't, I haven't seen anything that makes me think that I should have a ton of faith in Callahan. And if we're just being honest, you're right. Frank, it's not a great roster. It wasn't a great roster sometimes when F Vrabel just bootstrapped him and they still won football games. I just don't have proof of concept to the head coaching position. I think the most likely solution, I would take the under right now on the Titans. I think a new coach next year from the now new GM is coaching Cam Ward. I still think Cam Ward has a shot to be a very good player in this league. I hope he does, but I, I think it's gonna be a different regime that brings him along. Sorry, Titans fans.

UFL schedule Week 10: What games are on today? TV channel, live stream, more Show Caption Hide Caption Does Cam Ward have the pieces of a successful rookie quarterback? Former NFL quarterback Jordan Palmer has 3 things he looks for in rookie quarterbacks, and 1st overall draft pick Cam Ward has what he's looking for. Sports Seriously The final week of the 2025 UFL regular season is here, but there won't be much on the line over the final four games of the campaign. The UFL's four playoff spots have been wrapped up, while the league has determined the locations for each conference championship game. That means the Birmingham Stallions, DC Defenders, Michigan Panthers and St. Louis Battlehawks may all consider resting some of their starters to stay healthy for the championship games. Meanwhile, fans of the other four teams – the Arlington Renegades, Houston Roughnecks, Memphis Showboats and San Antonio Brahmas – will get one last chance to cheer their squads on during the 2025 campaign. After that, each team will enter offseason mode, where uncertainty will surround rosters as players make the jump to the NFL. Here's what to know about the UFL's Week 10 schedule and how to watch all four matchups. UFL schedule Week 10: What games are on today? The final week of the 2025 UFL season will feature four matchups. There will be one game played on Friday and one Saturday before a doubleheader closes the regular season on Sunday. Below is a complete look at the spring football league's Week 10 schedule. (All times Eastern.) Friday, May 30 St. Louis Battlehawks at DC Defenders, 8 p.m., Fox Saturday, May 31 Houston Roughnecks at Michigan Panthers, 3 p.m., ESPN Sunday, June 1 Arlington Renegades at San Antonio Brahmas, Noon, ABC Birmingham Stallions at Memphis Showboats, 3 p.m., Fox UFL SCHEDULE 2025: Dates, times, TV channel, more for every spring football game Friday UFL game time, TV channel, live stream St. Louis Battlehawks (7-2) at DC Defenders (6-3) Start time : 8 p.m. ET : 8 p.m. ET TV channel : Fox : Fox Live stream: Fubo The Battlehawks vs. Defenders game will be a preview of the XFL conference championship game. As such, it's fair to expect both teams will hold a little something back, especially with the game already set to be held in St. Louis. The Defenders are expected to sit first-team quarterback Jordan Ta'amu and give Mike DiLiello a chance to prove himself. The Austin Peay product completed 17 of 29 passes for 206 yards and a touchdown while playing the second half of DC's Week 9 loss to Houston. Presently, the Battlehawks are expected to start Max Duggan, who took over for the injured Manny Wilkins as St. Louis' starter midway through the 2025 UFL season. Brandon Silvers could get time at quarterback as well after splitting reps with Duggan last week. Saturday UFL game time, TV channel, live stream Houston Roughnecks (4-5) at Michigan Panthers (6-3) Start time : 3 p.m. ET : 3 p.m. ET TV channel : ESPN : ESPN Live stream: Fubo, ESPN+ The Roughnecks are coming off a last-minute win over the Defenders. Can they stay hot to end the season against the Panthers? Houston will rely on quarterback Jalan McClendon to make that happen. He completed 21 of 30 passes last week for 232 yards and two touchdowns, while Lorenzo Lingard averaged 10 yards per carry on the ground. If those two can play well, the Panthers may have trouble slowing down the Roughnecks' offense. Of course, it's also worth noting the Panthers will play in the USFL conference championship next week. The game is already set to be played in Birmingham, so it isn't clear whether coach Mike Nolan will use this week to rest his starters. That could complicate Michigan's potential path to victory. DARYL JOHNSTON: UFL coaching departures not about lack of confidence in league Sunday UFL game times, TV channels, live streams Arlington Renegades (4-5) at San Antonio Brahmas (1-9) Start time : Noon ET : Noon ET TV channel : ABC : ABC Live stream: Fubo, ESPN+ The Renegades and Brahmas are both out of playoff contention, so this game will be all about pride. Arlington showed some last week by pummeling Memphis 30-12 despite already being out of the postseason race and could succeed against a similarly struggling opponent. San Antonio ranks last in the UFL in both points scored and allowed per game this season, so barring a big game from running back Jashaun Corbin, the Brahmas may be hard-pressed to end their five-game losing streak. Birmingham Stallions (6-3) at Memphis Showboats (2-7) Start time : 3 p.m. ET : 3 p.m. ET TV channel : Fox : Fox Live stream: Fubo The Stallions are set to host the USFL championship game next weekend. Like their other playoff-bound counterparts, they may opt to rest their starters with not much on the line. Meanwhile, Memphis is looking ahead to next season and has been splitting time between E.J. Perry and Dresser Winn at quarterback. If the Brahmas win, the Showboats will need to win to avoid tying for the UFL's worst record in 2025. If not, Memphis will simply be looking to close a disappointing season on a high note.

Will Levis says losing Titans' starting job to Cam Ward 'sucks,' but he's staying positive

Two years ago, Will Levis found himself falling in the NFL Draft after once being rumored to be a possible No. 2 overall pick. Instead, he was selected in the second round, prompting awkward moments in the draft green room. Today, Levis finds himself out of a starter's job after his Tennessee Titans selected Cam Ward with the first overall pick. It is a less than ideal situation for the third-year quarterback who once thought he would be the future of the franchise. "Anyone who's ever been in my situation would agree that it sucks," Levis said Wednesday, via Main Street Nashville. But the chin stays up, and the mentality stays the same. "I'm just trying to do the best I can to not let it affect me and just being the same dude every day in the building and being there for the guys however I can and just trying to get better every day," Levis said. Despite a new role, Levis plans on treating every day like he has in the last few years. "I haven't been a backup in a while, but I don't plan on shifting my mindset, regardless of what the situation is," he said. "I'm just going to be ready to play quarterback whenever my name is called." Levis showed promise early on, throwing four touchdowns in his NFL debut. But, overall, it's been less than stellar. In 21 games, he has a 5-16 record and has thrown for 3,899 yards and 21 touchdowns against 16 interceptions. He's completed just 61% of his passes. Levis figures to be the favorite to win the backup job against Tim Boyle and Brandon Allen. Follow Fox News Digital's sports coverage on X, and subscribe to the Fox News Sports Huddle newsletter.
