Cambridgeshire firefighters tackle Wilburton landfill blaze
More than 20 firefighters were called to tackle a large landfill site Fire and Rescue Service was called to the site on Pools Road in Wilburton near Witchford at 17:58 BST on from Ely, Chatteris, Cottenham and Soham, along with a water carrier from Ramsey, attended and worked throughout the night to extinguish the inspections took place throughout Friday and an investigation into the cause is ongoing. A14 closed in Cambridgeshire after collision
Part of the A14 has been closed following a collision, say Cambridgeshire Fire and incident happened on Saturday morning to the east of Newmarket - between the Waterhall interchange at junction 38 and the Kentford interchange at junction are reports of queueing traffic on the section at the Cambridgeshire/Suffolk are being advised to find alternative routes. Major motorway closed after van erupts into flames – sparking more bank holiday travel chaos as 18m drivers hit the road
TRAFFIC has come to a halt on a major motorway after a van caught fire, sparking chaos for bank holiday travellers. Motorists are being held up on the M11 northbound between Junction 9 for Great Chesterford and Junction 10 for Duxford in Cambridgeshire due to the blaze. National Highways said Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue Service is at the scene. In a traffic update this afternoon, the highways agency said: "Traffic is being held on the M11 northbound between J9 GreatChesterford and J10 Duxford due to a van fire. "Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue Service [is] on scene. "We'll keep you updated, please expect delays." 18 million Brits are expected to hit the road this Bank Holiday weekend, amid fears of widespread delays. The RAC has warned of delays on Friday, May 23, and Saturday, May 24, when the highest number of trips are expected to be made. It is projected that each day could see 3.4 million journeys as Brits make a getaway for the long weekend. Firefighters tackled a blaze which began in a garden and spread to a bungalow, garage and van. Four crews from Peterborough and Huntingdon were called to Morpeth Road, Peterborough, at about 14:20 BST on Friday. They were able to control the blaze, which had also affected two other gardens, by about 17:30, a Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue spokesperson said.
