According to Singaporean news portal 8days, the 44-year-old has experienced repeated cycles of weight gain and loss over the years. In a recent interview with Hong Kong media, Chung – one half of the Cantopop duo Twins – said she had to undergo significant weight loss for her role as a cancer patient in the film Good Goodbye . She described the process as an immense challenge, adding: 'As I'm getting older and my metabolism is slowing down, losing weight really isn't easy for me.' The singer also revealed that she struggles with body dysmorphia, sharing: 'It's not that I'm insecure about my looks, but I have body dysmorphia.' The interview quickly went viral online, with many netizens expressing their support for Chung and commending her honesty about her health struggles. Others also reassured the singer that the size of her body doesn't matter, as long as she's healthy and happy. 'Gillian has been plump and thin, but she has never been ugly,' one netizen commented. The Queen of Jazz is set to perform at the Axiata Arena, Bukit Jalil, Kuala Lumpur on Nov 8. 'For three hours, it's going to be a solid Sheila Majid repertoire,' the 60-year-old singer said at a press conference earlier today (July 15) to announce the show. Although she says she and her team are still finalising the setlist – possibly trimming it to two-and-a-half hours instead of three – one thing is certain: it will feature most of her beloved hits, starting with the crowd-pleaser Sinaran. 'Forty years is a long career. I never imagined being blessed with the love and support of fans who have stood by me all this time,' added Sheila. For the concert, she is teaming up once again with her long-time collaborators who are legendary for their work in the music industry including Mac Chew, Jenny Chin and Jennifer Thompson. Also joining in is Steve Ho, an acclaimed stage and lighting designer who has worked with Cantopop stars like Jacky Cheung and Eason Chan. While there is no significance to the date of the concert, Sheila said there's a significance to the venue picked. Admitting she is feeling a little nervous performing on such a big stage, she adds it is more because she always wants to give her absolute best to her fans. "But having said that, when I started performing 40 years ago, Axiata Arena didn't even exist. We had Stadium Negara, Stadium Merdeka and PWTC. "Now, I thought, why not? It's a major milestone, and this feels like the right time and place to do it," she explained, continuing that she only does big concerts when there's a real reason for it. "The last one I did was Big Band in 2023 at PWTC. But I'd already told fans that I'd be marking my 40th anniversary with something special in 2025. So here we are. "Also, I've realised that I now have Gen Z fans too ... and they're excited to attend as well. "So it made sense to pick a bigger venue (that could accommodate everyone)." Tickets to Sheila Majid 40 Years In Music will go on sale July 17, 10am via Tickets are priced between RM268 and RM768. There's also a "Party Zone" ticket priced at RM3,400, which admits four people. Back in May, his wife Au Yin Man revealed that they were a month and a half behind on their rent, which amounts to HK$15,000 (RM8,130) per month. She recently disclosed that their landlord had issued a 14-day notice to terminate the lease, leaving the family on the brink of eviction. With no means to secure alternative housing and the termination date fast approaching, the situation has grown increasingly dire. 'My birthday is at a dead end this year. There are six days left, and nothing has changed! It seems that the whole family will be sleeping on the streets soon,' she wrote on Instagram. Au added that their only option might be to seek shelter services, hinting at the possibility of family separation, according to Hong Kong portal Dimsum Daily. This revelation shocked many netizens, who expressed deep concern for the family's well-being – especially for the couple's four young children, aged between two and six. Cheung's career took a hit in 2019 after he announced his marriage to Au while still dating Hong Kong actress April Leung. In recent years, the singer, who was part of the Cantopop duo Boyz, has taken on various jobs to stay afloat – including cable wiring, construction work, distributing fliers and condoms, as well as making food delivery orders.
