Jessie J announces breast cancer diagnosis in emotional video

LONDON, June 4: British pop star Jessie J has revealed that she has been diagnosed with early-stage breast cancer. In an emotional video shared with her fans on social media Tuesday, the 37-year-old singer described the diagnosis as a 'shock,' but assured followers that it was detected early. 'Cancer sucks in any form,' Jessie said. 'But I'm holding onto the word early.' The diagnosis came just before the April 25 release of her comeback single, No Secrets, marking her return to music after a four-year hiatus. Jessie, whose real name is Jessica Cornish, said she would undergo surgery following her performance at Capital FM's Summertime Ball at Wembley Stadium on June 15. In her video, Jessie admitted she wrestled with whether to share the news publicly but ultimately decided to be open with her fans. 'I want to share it. I've always shared everything that I go through in my life,' she said. 'Before No Secrets came out, I was diagnosed with early breast cancer. I have been in and out of tests throughout this whole period. I'm not processing it because I'm working so hard.' She added with characteristic humor, 'It's a very dramatic way to get a boob job.' Jessie confirmed that she plans to "disappear for a bit" after her June concert to undergo surgery. "I will come back with massive ts and more music," she joked, before clarifying, 'No, I'm not getting massive ts. Or am I? No, no… I must stop joking.' Keeping the mood light in the post's caption, she quipped: 'No (more) Secrets — and is it too soon to do a remix called Living My Breast Life?' She explained that humor has always been a coping mechanism during difficult times. 'All jokes aside… This last two months have been so amazing, and having this go on alongside it has given me the most incredible perspective,' she wrote. 'BUT... your girl needs a hug.' Later, in an Instagram Story, she reflected, 'Just shared something super personal I've been holding onto for 9 weeks. The timing has been mad but beautiful... But honestly, I need to process it. I need a hug.' Following her announcement, Jessie received an outpouring of support from fellow artists and fans. Pop star Rita Ora commented, 'You're literally my favourite person and I'm praying for you. My mother had it, and I know surgery and any treatment is mentally tough — I'm here for you.' Paloma Faith added, 'Sending so much love. I have every confidence you will beat this.' Singer Marvin Humes wrote, 'Ain't no one stronger than you… you've got this,' while his wife, Saturdays singer Rochelle Humes, added, 'We love you so much.' Amy Dowden, Strictly Come Dancing star and breast cancer survivor, wrote: 'Sending so much love and strength.' Jessie's diagnosis adds to a long list of personal challenges she has overcome. She suffered a miscarriage in 2021 — the emotional experience forming the inspiration behind No Secrets. Two years later, she welcomed her son, Sky, with basketball player Chanan Colman. She recently shared a sweet moment about motherhood: 'Whenever Sky hears me singing, he looks at everyone in the room and says, 'Mummy's singing.' He finishes the songs I sang to him when he was a baby.' Jessie has also battled multiple health issues since childhood. Diagnosed with heart disease at nine, she suffered a stroke at 17 just after graduating from the BRIT School and signing her first record deal. In 2021, she revealed she went temporarily deaf, a condition that delayed a previous album. At an April appearance during Advertising Week Europe in London, she said: 'My health has always kept me balanced. All these things have felt like they were keeping my feet on the ground.' Despite these hardships, Jessie maintains a forward-looking spirit. 'Living in fear doesn't stop the thing you're scared of from happening,' she said. 'I may as well live in the moment while [my son] is not hurting himself, instead of being scared that he is.' Jessie continues to promote No Secrets, the lead single from her upcoming sixth studio album, even as she prepares for surgery. 'To get diagnosed with this as I'm putting out a song called No Secrets, right before Living My Best Life — which was all pre-planned — I mean, you can't make it up,' she said with a smile. True to form, Jessie is facing her diagnosis with humor, honesty, and unflinching openness — a combination that has defined her career and connected her with fans around the world.

Aldi's 'naughty' new offering outside McDonald's has fast food fans in stitches

There's nothing worse than making it to McDonald's and realising you've missed the 11am cut off to get your hash brown fix. In fact, 62% of Brits believe this is too early to stop serving breakfast, with more than a fifth of us wanting breakfast food to be available all day. Well Aldi might just be the answer to our prayers, as it looks to give the beloved fast food chain a run for its money. The budget supermarket is hitting the road in its very own food truck, pulling up outside select McDonald's from 11.01am to offer its own free version of the breakfast staple. That's right, you'll be able to get your hands on Aldi's freshly cooked Oakhurst Breakfast Hash Browns all day. There's no need to rush hungover in your pyjamas to the drive through any longer. The tour will start at London McDonald's branches on ThursdayMay 29, before continuing to other UK cities on Friday. Depending on stock levels, the food truck may continue to operate over the weekend, but if they're as popular as we think they're going to be, then you'll need to be quick. The supermarket claims its hash browns have garnered cult status among breakfast connoisseurs. It even says its 'outdoes' McDonald's in blind taste tests by food critics and social media accounts. Capital FM host @‌aimeevivian shared her love of the viral hash browns on TikTok, saying: 'It's another run don't walk to Aldi! I love a cheeky Maccies hash brown as a treat. So to find these in @‌Aldi UK was a touch!' Others in the comments dubbed the supermarket hash browns 'perfect' and 'just like Maccies', so we have a feeling they'll satisfy those cravings. TikToker @dadthefoodie said: 'They look like McDonald's… you can't tell any difference.' Others online questioned how Aldi were 'getting away' with the stunt. One wrote: 'How the hell did you get away with that,' while another said: 'I love Aldi for sooooo many reasons but the fact they always choose violence has to be number one.' Others called the stunt 'Pure naughtiness!' and dubbed Aldi 'legends' for their new truck. If you're unable to make it to a McDonald's car park, you can grab a bag of 10 hash browns at Aldi for just £1.99. It's a steal when you consider the fast food chain charges £1.49 for a single hash brown. Then again you've got to cook it yourself, and we don't know if we've got the patience for that. But this isn't the only breakfast staple budget supermarkets do well. Lidl also made headlines last week after its sausages beat out competition from M&S, Heck, Jolly Hog and Sainsbury's, in a blind taste test. The supermarket sausages received a score of 77% because of their 'juicy texture' and 'perfect meaty flavour' – talk about high praise. More Trending Aldi's sausages came seventh in the taste test just behind Morrisons and Asda with a score of 69% – putting it on par with The Jolly Hog and Co-op. The revamp is targeting Sky's plethora of radio channels, which allow you to tune into stations such as BBC, Capital FM, Heart and talkSPORT without needing a separate speaker. So why is everything moving? A post on Sky's community pages says the reason things are being switched around is to "close the gaps in the EPG" (Electronic Program Guide). ‌ Hopefully, this should make it far easier to get to the things you want to listen to. ‌ It's been confirmed that the upgrade is taking place this week, starting May 27th. Along with getting those new radio channels this week, there's another reason to check your Q box. Sky has confirmed that it is offering free movies until May 31 to say sorry for this month's issue that left some users without access to contnet. ‌ "We're gifting you a Sky Store Buy & Keep movie — it's our way of saying thank you for bearing with us," Sky said in an email. Movies available as part of the gift include blockbusters such as Bullet Train, Jumanji: The Next Level, Les Misérables, Venom, Gladiator, Brides Maids and The Equalizer. To grab this bonus, Sky Q customers can click on the Sky Store from the homepage. Then they will see a 'Your Sky Store gift on us' tile at the top. It's then simply a question of picking a film. "Once downloaded, this is yours to keep forever," Sky added.

Sky Q undergoes massive TV guide shake-up with over 30 channel changes coming in HOURS – and it includes BBC stations

SKY has unveiled a massive overhaul to its channel list with more than 30 set to move tomorrow. The huge shift includes a number of BBC stations, as well as favourites like talkSPORT and Capital FM. 1 In recent years, a number of big brands have opted to leave TV services and stick to traditional radio plus digital listening - such as Magic and Absolute Radio at the end of 2023. To fill gaps from these departures, Sky has decided to re-arrange the channel numbers for a big chunk of the radio stations it offers on satellite. This affects all Sky Q and Sky+HD boxes. Most only shuffle a few digits but it's good to take note to ensure you know where to find your favourites. The changes are due to take place on Tuesday (May 27). It marks the first major change to radio stations available through Sky since 2022. See the full list below: talkSPORT - current number 0108. New number 0107 Capital FM - current number 0109. Hannah Waddingham confirms ‘Ted Lasso' Season 4 begins filming in July: 'It's a beautiful resurrection'

Hannah Waddingham Get ready to head back to Nelson Road as 'Ted Lasso' is officially kicking off production for its highly anticipated fourth season this July. Hannah Waddingham who plays the iconic Rebecca Welton recently revealed the surprise revival of the Apple TV+ series that many fans believed had ended for good after its emotional third season. Speaking on Capital FM, the Emmy winner and two-time Golden Globe nominee expressed her excitement saying, 'We thought we'd mourned the loss and now it's rising from the dead!' Waddingham will reprise her role as the fierce yet heartfelt AFC Richmond owner in what promises to be a fresh new direction for the beloved series. After Season 3 wrapped in 2023, many assumed the series had concluded its story. But Apple quietly renewed 'Ted Lasso' last year for a fourth instalment. According to Deadline, the upcoming season will mark a major shift, with Jason Sudeikis 's Ted Lasso now coaching a women's soccer team, injecting the story with new energy while keeping the original charm intact. Waddingham praised the show's creative team calling them 'Jedi Knights,' adding that the series is shaped by a writing room full of 'feminist men' and 'fabulous women,' whose collaboration has resulted in what she described as 'so beautifully drawn' scripts. Familiar faces make a comeback Alongside Waddingham and Sudeikis, key cast members like Brett Goldstein (Roy Kent), Juno Temple (Keeley Jones) and Jeremy Swift (Higgins) are all set to return. Their reunion signals that even the format may evolve but the heart of the show remains unchanged.
