Louisville basketball, Cincinnati reportedly finalizing neutral-site series. What to know

Louisville basketball is reportedly adding another longtime rival to its 2025-26 schedule. The Cardinals and Cincinnati are finalizing an agreement to play a two-year, neutral-site series beginning this season, according to a report Friday from Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports on X, formerly Twitter. Advertisement This year's game, per Rothstein, will be played at Heritage Bank Center in downtown Cincinnati. UC called the arena home for more than a decade after it opened in 1975. In 2026-27, the teams will play at Freedom Hall, U of L's old stomping grounds of 54 years. The last time the Cards took the court there before moving to the KFC Yum! Center was March 7, 2010, when they upset top-ranked Syracuse, 78-68. Louisville has played Cincinnati 100 times, more than any opponent in its 111-year history. But they haven't met on the court since the 2022 Maui Invitational — the Bearcats won, 81-62. Before that? You have to go all the way back to 2014, when both teams were members of the American Athletic Conference. Advertisement The Cards hold a 56-44 lead in the all-time series with UC, which dates back to 1921. This year's game will be a homecoming for coach Pat Kelsey, who grew up in Cincinnati and both played and coached at Xavier. Cincinnati is coming off a 19-16 finish in 2024-25, which was coach Wes Miller's fourth season at the helm. Having missed out on the NCAA Tournament, the Bearcats participated in the inaugural College Basketball Crown in Las Vegas. They lost to UCF in the second round. As of Friday, Louisville had confirmed three games on its 2025-26 nonconference schedule: U of L has also reportedly agreed to play cross-state rival Indiana on Dec. 6 at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis. Advertisement Before Rothstein's report on the Cincinnati series, Louisville athletics director Josh Heird said during a Friday appearance on WLCL 93.9-FM that the Cards won't play St. John's and former coach Rick Pitino at Madison Square Garden this season. Pitino told reporters at the Final Four in April that the schools were in negotiations to make that happen. Making the grade: Go behind the scenes of some of Oklahoma City's top-performing schools

Students, teachers, backpacks, pencils and books are all hallmarks of any public school in Oklahoma, though some may have 2,000 kids in the building while others seat just 200 or less. But what factors make some of those schools academic leaders? Each year, public schools in Oklahoma are graded on the Oklahoma State Report Card, which measures six indicators — academic growth, chronic absenteeism, academic achievement, English language proficiency progress, postsecondary opportunities and graduation — in an effort to provide a snapshot of school performance. Each indicator receives a specific point value that translates to a letter grade. The Oklahoman looked at individual report cards for each of the 526 public school campuses in 10 counties in central Oklahoma — Canadian, Cleveland, Grady, Kingfisher, Lincoln, Logan, McClain, Oklahoma, Payne and Pottawatomie — to determine how many 'A' schools there were in all of those counties. For the 2023-24 school year, only a combined 34 school campuses in those 10 counties received an "A." Armed with that information, The Oklahoman recently visited five schools in central Oklahoma — a suburban high school, a suburban elementary school, a K-12 elementary and high school, a charter school and a school in a dependent district. Among the questions: What are their formulas for success, and what can they teach other schools across the metropolitan area and the rest of Oklahoma? Through interviews with superintendents, principals and teachers, here's a look at how schools like Deer Creek High School in Oklahoma County, Lomega High School and Elementary School in Kingfisher County, Maple Public School in Canadian County, Theodore Roosevelt Elementary School in Norman and Dove Science Academy in Oklahoma City received an "A" on the latest report card — and what they shared that make their schools successful. At the schools in this small rural farming community, it's not just the work of educators and parents, it's also the work ethic of the students that contribute to their success. Here's how they're meeting those high expectations. Maple serves only about 200 students, but it's developed a reputation as one of Oklahoma's best school districts. Their 'off-the-formula' makeup might be a key reason why. These tuition-free, STEM-focused charter schools largely serve low-income students, but the students are only part of the picture. Here's how faculty get the entire family involved. This school is one of the few city-area schools to get an 'A' grade. A special focus on their teachers helps keep their staff energized and always learning. This school in Edmond is already big at 2,000 students, and is rapidly growing. Here's a look at how they're keeping up with their students' rapidly changing needs. Here is a look at the schools in the Oklahoma City area that earned an "A" on the Oklahoma State Report Cards: Canadian County Maple Public School (Calumet) Piedmont Early Childhood Center Cleveland County Brink Junior High School (Moore) Oakridge Elementary School (Moore) Roosevelt Elementary School (Norman) South Lake Elementary School (Moore) Wayland Bonds Elementary School (Moore) Grady County Amber-Pocasset High School Middleberg Public School (Blanchard) Pioneer Public School (Chickasha) Kingfisher County Lomega Elementary School Lomega High School Lincoln County None Logan County Mulhall-Orlando High School McClain County Blanchard Intermediate Elementary School Blanchard Middle School Oklahoma County Academy of Seminole Charter High School (based in Oklahoma City) Bethany High School Bethany Middle School Classen SAS (Oklahoma City) Clegern Elementary School (Edmond) Cross Timbers Elementary School (Edmond) Deer Creek High School Deer Creek Intermediate School Dove Science Academy Elementary School (Warr Acres) Dove Science Academy High School (Oklahoma City) Dove Science Academy Middle School (Warr Acres) Edmond North High School Edmond Santa Fe High School Harding Charter Preparatory High School (Oklahoma City) Oakdale Public School (Edmond) Santa Fe South Pathways Mid-College (Oklahoma City) Payne County Richmond Elementary School (Stillwater) Sangre Ridge Elementary School (Stillwater) Westwood Elementary School (Stillwater) Pottawatomie County None This article originally appeared on Oklahoman: These OKC schools got an A on the Oklahoma State Report Card

Doja Cat teases '70's and '80s-inspired album with 'modern twists'

Doja Cat's new album 'Vie' will "fully encapsulate" the '70s and '80s - with some "modern twists". The 'Say So' hitmaker is expected to release the follow-up to 2023's 'Scarlet' sometime this year and she has shared snippets of what fans can expect. Speaking on Los Angeles' 102.7 KIIS FM radio station recently, she said: 'I'm really punching my foot through the wall into that situation. I want to really fully encapsulate that time and still give it some modern twists here and there.' In November, the 'Paint The Town Red' hitmaker took to X to share the names of 13 songs from the album. She highlighted five of the songs - 'Cards', 'Acts Of Service', 'Make It Up', 'Did I Lie' and 'Crack' - as her "favourite". Doja later noted: "Songs are in no particular order. Starred my favorites. (sic)' However, she later deleted the post. In September, the 29-year-old rapper and singer declared that she doesn't want to write hits just to "protect her pockets". Doja admitted she has done songs in the past just to be popular, and said she wanted to experiment with the eclectic mix of genres that she loves, including jazz, neo soul, indie and rock music. In an interview conducted by singer Jack Harlow for Present Space, Doja said: "I really love jazz music, and I love neo soul, and different kinds of rock music and indie and experimental music. That stuff tends to get pushed to the side by the general populace, and I didn't see it in the past for me, so I did the thing that I knew would stick. Now, I feel like I can take those elements that I have from the music that sticks and put it into this soup of different genres that I really love and enjoy and respect, and make something new with it. That's what I've always loved to do, is swirl a lot of different sounds together, but really in the future, I want to start going in a different direction sonically that isn't supposed to just protect my pockets necessarily, and isn't just supposed to woo the younger fans or the people who only want to hear sexual themes or self-medication or stuff like that. There's so much to life and it's been a pattern of writing about those things for me, but now I want to stretch the canvas." The star stepped away from her conventional pop style on 'Scarlet', focusing on hip-hop and R'n'B.
