Former Chiefs Quarterback Shares Awesome Update With Fans

With just over two months to go before the start of training camps across the NFL, Carson Wentz is still a man without a team. He was a backup quarterback last season behind Patrick Mahomes on the Kansas City Chiefs, but his experience over the years may allow him to get picked up by a squad before it is too late. Advertisement In the meantime, he seems to be enjoying himself. In a post on his official Instagram account, he mentioned that he spoke at two Christian conferences with linebacker Drue Tranquill, a teammate of his last season, in his native North Dakota. "Another fun trip back to North Dakota!" Wentz wrote. "Was honored to speak alongside good friend @druetranquill at @goevangel's Men's Conference followed by our annual @ao1foundation event in Bismarck. It's always fun getting to interact with the kids we are serving through the AO1 Foundation!" Not too long ago, Wentz was one of the NFL's brightest young quarterbacks. Advertisement The Philadelphia Eagles took him with the No. 2 overall pick in the 2016 draft, and the following year, he threw for 3,296 yards and 33 touchdowns in 13 games and made the Pro Bowl as he helped the Eagles establish themselves as a legitimate championship contender. Unfortunately for him, he suffered a torn ACL in Week 14, which ended his season. He had to sit and watch as backup Nick Foles stepped into the QB1 spot and led the Eagles to the Super Bowl championship. Sergio Estrada-USA TODAY Sports Wentz suffered additional injuries over the next few years, which robbed him of much of his ability. By the 2023 campaign, he had been reduced to being a backup. Advertisement It looked like he would pick up a championship ring last year with Kansas City, but the team got blown out in Super Bowl LIV. Ironically, it lost there to the Eagles, Wentz's former employer. Related: Baker Mayfield's Wife Had No Words After Buccaneers QB's Announcement

Wentz Signing With Cowboys Rumor An Insult To Dak

The Cowboys already have what most teams spend years searching for — stability and upside at quarterback. At QB1, they've got a steady, All-Pro leader in Dak Prescott — a guy who embodies everything this franchise wants to be. He's the face, the voice, the grown-up in the room. And now, they've doubled down on the future by acquiring Joe Milton — a raw, alien-traited prospect with a bazooka arm, plus size, and the kind of athletic tools you can't teach. Advertisement There is no quarterback stability with Carson Wentz. There is no upside. The Cowboys already have both without him ... Which makes the rumor that connects the roller-coaster QB who was once an Eagles first-round pick so maddening. Wentz is a name that carries more memory than momentum — a former contender turned league-wide insurance policy. He's played for five teams in five years. He is ... A panic button. A break-glass-if-needed rental for teams without structure. That's not the Cowboys. Pittsburgh and Cleveland, maybe. (Or maybe not, given that Wentz remains unsigned by all 32 teams.) But not Dallas. Advertisement The Cowboys don't need a flier. They need focus. The Cowboys don't need a circus. (See "Belichick vs. Schottenheimer'' here.) They need continuity. And they need to give Joe Milton the same thing they once gave Dak — the space to grow behind a clear leader, not get jammed in behind someone else's retread storyline. Oh, and as insurance, Will Grier is here - not as pedigreed as Wentz, but also not as much of a headline-grabbing noise-maker move, either. The Cowboys are built differently now. ... and not understanding that is an insult to what Prescott - lightning rod he may be to some due to the $60 million APY contract - has accomplished. Advertisement Adding Carson Wentz would be like lighting a match near a closed door: The results won't fix what's inside. ... It might just blow it all up. Pittsburgh Steelers' QB dilemma: Could Carson Wentz be the surprising fix they need?

Steelers consider Carson Wentz as low-cost solution to QB uncertainty (Image via: Getty Images) The Pittsburgh Steelers are currently stuck in a perplexing quarterback predicament, and the 2025 NFL season might just make or break their future. With no clear successor to Ben Roethlisberger's legacy in sight, the Steelers are forced to entertain a series of options, none of which bring certainty. While Will Howard was selected in the 6th round of the 2025 NFL Draft, it's clear he isn't ready to take the reins just yet. The reality of Carson Wentz in Pittsburgh How Carson Wentz Destroyed His Career... Though many in the football world have moved on from Carson Wentz, the Steelers could be the team to bring the former Pro Bowler back into the fold, albeit not in a starting role. Aaron Rodgers' decision looms large over Pittsburgh's quarterback situation, and should the 41-year-old choose to retire, general manager Omar Khan and head coach Mike Tomlin may have no choice but to pivot towards Wentz. While Wentz's glory days in the NFL are clearly behind him, his experience is undeniable. After starting 95 games in his career, including multiple playoff appearances, the 6-foot-5 signal-caller offers an invaluable wealth of knowledge. His career numbers, 153 touchdowns against 67 interceptions reflect a solid resume that, while no longer elite, can still be effective in certain situations. Steelers eye Carson Wentz as affordable veteran backup amid QB uncertainty Most recently, Wentz's role with the Kansas City Chiefs saw him serve as a backup to Patrick Mahomes. He hasn't started a game in nearly three seasons, but the 2024 campaign saw him step into a reserve role with limited play. While this reduced action has led many to question his readiness to start, Wentz could bring stability to Pittsburgh's quarterback room, especially if Rodgers chooses to decline the Steelers' offer. Moreover, Wentz wouldn't break the bank for the Steelers. As a veteran with a less-than-stellar recent performance record, Spotrac estimates that Wentz could sign a one-year deal worth just $1.9 million, a bargain for a player with his pedigree. However, Wentz isn't going to save the Steelers' quarterback position. He's not the long-term answer, and his days as a franchise QB are in the rearview mirror. But, if the Steelers need a reliable backup with experience who can step up in a pinch, Wentz might be their best option for the 2025 season. They can continue to gamble on untested players or settle for an aging veteran like Wentz to bridge the gap until a true solution emerges. Unless something drastic changes, the Steelers are in for a bumpy ride at quarterback.

How many Super Bowls have the Philadelphia Eagles won?

It took the Philadelphia Eagles 52 years to win their first Super Bowl. It didn't take them nearly as long to win their second, although it did take two tries. Seven years after the organization's first Super Bowl championship, the Eagles beat the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LIX 40-22 on Sunday at the Superdome in New Orleans. It was their second win in five Super Bowl appearances. The first two were losses — 27-10 to the Oakland Raiders in Super Bowl XV following the 1980 season and 24-21 to the New England Patriots in Super Bowl XXXIX following the 2004 season. Then came Super Bowl LII following the 2017 season. The Eagles were led by quarterback Nick Foles, who was a backup at the start of the season before stepping in for the injured Carson Wentz in Week 14. Their opponents were the defending champion Patriots, who were seeking their sixth Super Bowl title behind quarterback Tom Brady and coach Bill Belichick. Brady completed 28 of 48 passes for a Super Bowl-record 505 yards and three touchdowns, but it wasn't enough. Foles was named the game's MVP after he passed for 373 yards and three touchdowns and also caught a touchdown pass as the Eagles defeated New England 41-33. The Eagles returned for Super Bowl LVII following the 2022 season, this time with Jalen Hurts as their quarterback. Hurts accounted for three touchdowns and a two-point conversion, but a last-second field goal lifted the Chiefs to a 38-35 win, with quarterback Patrick Mahomes being named MVP. Two years later, the Eagles avenged that loss to the Chiefs at Super Bowl LIX.

Super Bowl LIX storylines: Draft capital from Wentz trade landed the Eagles A.J. Brown and so much more

The Eagles and Chiefs are starting to wake up from their pregame snaps and departing on the first round of buses heading to the Caesars Superdome for a gigantic matchup in Super Bowl LIX. The game is ripe with storylines, including quarterback Carson Wentz as the Chiefs backup quarterback with a chance to win his second Super Bowl ring, this time against the team that drafted him No. 1 overall. After a historic start with the Eagles, Wentz fizzled out, lost his job to Jalen Hurts, and was traded on February 18, 2021, to the Colts for a 2021 third-round pick and a conditional 2022 second-round pick that could turn into a first. After that trade, Wentz spent a season with the Colts before getting traded to the Commanders. After a season with Washington, Wentz signed with the Rams late in 2023 and spent 2024 with the Chiefs as Mahomes primary backup. Chiefs backup QB Carson Wentz has an indirect role in helping to assemble the roster that will try to prevent Kansas City from three repeating today. The Eagles traded Wentz to the Colts for a 2021 3rd-round pick and conditional 2022 1st-round pick. The Eagles then used that… Just hours before kickoff, Adam Schefter broke down how the assets acquired from the Wentz trade turned into A.J. Brown, DeVonta Smith, and Jalen Carter.
