Loewe opens ninth store in Italy with Cernobbio debut

Spanish luxury house Loewe expands its international footprint with the opening of a new boutique in the heart of Cernobbio, a picturesque town in Italy's Lombardy province. The space was designed by Italian luxury retailer Tessabit. The new boutique is located at 30 Via Regina, right in the city center. Inside, Loewe incorporates contemporary design elements, including green-toned tiles paired with wallpaper, creating an interplay of light and color. The brand used materials such as brass, walnut wood, and concrete to evoke a sense of heritage that aligns with both the local setting and Loewe's creative identity. The store offers a wide assortment of Loewe's collections, including womenswear, handbags, footwear, small leather goods, sunglasses and accessories. Reflecting the brand's Casa Loewe concept—centered on the intersection of fashion and art—the boutique features notable design pieces. These include Soji paper lamps by Japanese-American artist Isamu Noguchi, handcrafted ceramic vases by British designer John Ward and Utrecht armchairs designed by Dutch architect Thomas Gerrit Rietveld. With this latest opening, Loewe strengthens its retail presence in the Italian market, now operating nine locations nationwide. These include standalone boutiques in Rome and Milan, as well as shop-in-shops in the Italian luxury department store chain La Rinascente. Founded in 1846 in Madrid as a leather goods workshop, the LVMH -owned luxury brand is known worldwide for its craftsmanship and original creations. In March, Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez of Proenza Schouler assumed the roles of creative directors at Loewe. They succeeded Northern Irish designer Jonathan Anderson, who stepped down just days earlier to lead menswear design at Dior Men, another house under French luxury magnate Bernard Arnault 's LVMH empire.

The Buckhead store is the 10th in the U.S. for the LVMH-owned fashion house. On April 18, Loewe, the luxury fashion house owned by Paris-based LVMH, opened its 10th U.S. brick-and-mortar location at Phipps Plaza. The roughly 1,250-square-foot space offers women's ready-to-wear clothes, bags, shoes, leather goods, eyewear and other accessories, according to a press release. Vicki Hanor, senior executive vice president and managing director of luxury leasing at Phipps owner Simon Property Group, called the store a 'huge draw,' saying that Loewe is a 'major luxury house' that has rightfully earned its place on the global scene. GET TO KNOW YOUR CITY Find Local Events Near You Connect with a community of local professionals. Explore All Events 'Their tenancy at Phipps Plaza will continue to elevate our profile as the premier luxury destination in the Southeast,' Hanor told Atlanta Business Chronicle. The Chronicle first reported Loewe's planned expansion to Atlanta last summer. Loewe's Atlanta shop pulls inspiration from the Casa Loewe concept, where fashion collections are interspersed with art, craft and design, according to the house's website. It features ceramic tiles in peach and silver enveloping the façade and interiors. Artworks from Loewe's global collection, including work by Belgian-born artist Caragh Thuring, are on display throughout the store. The arrival of the Spanish label — founded in 1846 by Enrique Loewe — reflects increasing consumer demand for high-end brands in Atlanta and nods to the city becoming a strong retail market, Hanor said. She added that both local and out-of-town shoppers are drawn to Simon's Lenox Square and Phipps, which combined now host 65 luxury brands. In March, Loewe's revered creative director Jonathan Anderson left after an 11-year tenure. Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez of New York-based womenswear brand Proenza Schouler were appointed to the design position. Anderson was recently named the menswear designer for Dior, another LVMH house. LVMH is suddenly working to get back on top of the fashion world. Earlier this month, Hermès overtook the company in the race for Europe's most valuable luxury entity.
