Van Hunt reveals he proposed to Halle Berry

Van Hunt has revealed he has already proposed to longtime girlfriend Halle Berry. The musician shared that he had popped the question to the Catwoman star during an interview with "So I put out the proposal, and it's still on hold as you can see," Hunt said as Berry laughed. "It's just out there floating. You know, maybe you can encourage her." As for why Berry hasn't yet said yes to Hunt's proposal? The Oscar-winner said it's simple. "Well, I've been married three times. Van has been married once, and so no, we don't feel like we have to get married to validate our love in any way. We don't," Berry said. "But I think we will get married just because, out of the people I've been married to, this is the person I should have married," Berry added. "And I feel like I should, we should get married, but it's not because we feel like we have to. I think it's something that we would like to do just because we want that expression." Berry and Hunt went public with their romance in September 2020. Berry shares a daughter with ex-boyfriend Gabriel Aubry, and a son with ex-husband Oliver Martinez, to whom she was married from 2013 to 2016. She was also previously married to former baseball pro David Justice from 1993 to 1997 and musician Eric Benét from 2001 to 2005.

Danny DeVito Recalls Crushing on Co-star Michelle Pfeiffer During Batman Returns: 'She Was a Goddess'

Danny DeVito recently shared how he felt working alongside Michelle Pfeiffer on Tim Burton's 1992 film Batman Returns. In an interview for Variety's Actors on Actors series, DeVito described Pfeiffer as a 'goddess' and admitted, 'I lusted after her.' Playing the Penguin to Pfeiffer's Catwoman, he confessed that her presence made him self-conscious. 'If I knew she was going to be in a scene that day…I got all flushed. Put extra makeup on, 'Give me another pound of makeup.' It was very difficult,' DeVito recalled. DeVito clarified that it was his character, Oswald Cobblepot, not him personally, who was 'lustful.' He laughed when co-star Colin Farrell asked if Pfeiffer ever called security on him. DeVito replied, 'I kind of feel like she liked it. She liked Oswald.' His remark suggests that Pfeiffer appreciated the energy he brought as a Penguin. Despite playing a despicable character, DeVito made it clear he never carried that role home. Asked whether he ever took the character home, Danny DeVito firmly replied that he went home to Rhea Perlman and the kids. DeVito and Perlman have been married since 1982 and share three children: Lucy, Gracie, and Jack. Though the couple separated in 2017, they remain married. DeVito shared that regardless of the brutal or despicable roles he plays, he always sheds that persona once he leaves the set. Meanwhile, Michelle Pfeiffer continues to impress fans with stunning, makeup-free selfies that showcase her ageless looks. In April, she was honored with a hand and footprints ceremony at the TCL Chinese Theatre in Los Angeles, appearing in a chic black suit and satin blouse. Pfeiffer has been married to TV writer and producer David E. Kelley since 1993. The couple shares two children: Claudia, 32, and John, 30. DeVito and Farrell also discussed their views on alcohol. Farrell, sober since 2005, influenced DeVito to cut back. DeVito admitted he still enjoys just a sip of wine and likes gin martinis with cigars. However, when he's on the health kick, he avoids alcohol altogether. Both actors agreed they feel much better without heavy drinking.

Michelle Pfeiffer's Catwoman Is Legendary, And I Love Hearing Danny DeVito's Candid Thoughts About Working With And 'Lusting After' Her In Batman Returns

There will always be debates over who the best live-action Batman was on the big screen, but, with apologies to Anne Hathaway and Zoë Kravitz, I'm not sure there's any real argument over who the best on-screen Catwoman has been. It has to have been Michelle Pfeiffer in Batman Returns. Pfeiffer's Catwoman was absolutely iconic, though her wearing a skintight body suit may have had a lot to do with that. One person who clearly loved Pfeiffer in Batman Returns was her co-star Danny DeVito. In the new Actors on Actors from Variety, DeVito talks with modern Penguin Colin Farrell, and he admits that he would go the extra mile if he knew he was sharing a scene with the actress. DeVito said… I had Michelle Pfeiffer. I'm not comparing anything, but I'm just saying, she was a goddess. If I knew she was going to be in a scene that day. . . . I got all flushed. Put extra makeup on — 'Give me another pound of makeup.' It was very difficult. Michelle Pfeiffer was only brought in to play Selena Kyle in Batman Returns after Annette Bening became pregnant and couldn't play the role. Pfeffer went on to create the version of Catwoman that all others would be compared to. It is almost certainly one of the sexiest performances in any comic book movie. DeVito says he loved working with the iconic actress, and can't help but mention the sex appeal element, saying… Just so wonderful. And I lusted after her. To be clear, DeVito isn't talking about himself lusting after Michelle Pfeiffer here. He's pointing out that lusting after Catwoman was part of his character, Oswald Cobblepot. Having said that, it doesn't sound like the actor minded much. When asked by Colin Farrell how the actress might have felt about all this, DeVito thinks Michelle Pfeiffer enjoyed it all. He added... I kind of feel like she liked it. She liked Oswald. To be fair, everybody is lusting after Catwoman in Batman Returns, it's very much intentional, as Selina Kyle uses her sex appeal to her advantage throughout the film. It's a significant part of the movie, and also a significant part of the reason that many parents, and corporate sponsors, were upset with Batman Returns. It was seen as too mature regarding both sex and violence for a Batman movie, and led to the major realignment of tone that we would see under Joel Schumacher with Batman Forever and Batman & Robin. Danny DeVito clearly loved making Batman Returns, and the rest of us still love watching it. It's one of the best, if not the best, big-screen Batman adventures to date. That's not entirely because Michelle Pfeiffer is so unforgettable, but it certainly doesn't hurt.

Original Catwoman Julie Newmar, 91, Seen During a Rare Public Appearance in L.A.

Julie Newmar, best known for originating the role of Catwoman, was spotted out in Los Angeles on May 15, marking a rare public appearance for the 91-year-old actress Newmar has been quite private in recent years, only making rare fan appearances at fan events and posting on social media Her latest public outing comes shortly after she shared a post on Instagram stating that she "was depressed" until reading fan comments on a clip of her as CatwomanThe original Catwoman is still on the prowl! Julie Newmar, the actress best known for originating the role of Catwoman in the '60s Batman TV series, was spotted out in Los Angeles on Thursday, May 15, marking a rare public appearance for the star. During the outing, Newmar, 91, drove a motorized scooter on the street and, to fans most accustomed to her iconic black catsuits, was practically unrecognizable in a light-colored, casual ensemble. The actress wore gray sweatpants, a pair of fuzzy slippers and a blue button-up shirt. She also wore a wide-brimmed hat, which kept the L.A. sun out of her eyes. Though Newmar does not step out often, the 91-year-old is somewhat active on her Instagram account, where she last posted on May 13. 'Our most glorious garden yet,' the star recently captioned several photos of the flowers blossoming at what appeared to be her L.A. home. Earlier this month, she also posted the link to a clip from her turn as Catwoman alongside Adam West in Batman, which ran for three seasons from 1966 to 1968. (Though Newmar only starred in a total of 13 episodes, they are some of the most iconic, with four taking the top spots on IMDB's top-rated Batman episode list.) 'I was depressed -- then I read what people had to say about me in the comment section. Oh My!!' Newmar wrote alongside a screenshot of the clip, a scene in which Catwoman attempts to seduce the titular hero, played by West. 'She's amazing,' one top comment on the video reads. 'I loved her as a child, and as an adult I can appreciate her comedic genius. Such an incredible presence ❤️.' 'Julie Newmar is by far my favorite Catwoman!' another person wrote. 'She had such a mesmerizing presence everytime she was on screen ❤️.' Prior to her sighting in L.A., Newmar's most recent public appearances — though few and far between — have all been connected to her Catwoman roots. In June 2024, she attended a fan event, where she playfully sported cat ears while signing autographs for admirers. In 2017, she also made appearances at fan events, including Amazing Las Vegas Comic Con and CatCon, where she also nodded to the beloved antihero with a cat-inspired ensemble. While reflecting on her career in an interview with Bring Me the News, Newmar previously said, "I'm realizing that through all the shows I've done — the television, film and stage — all the mediums I've worked in, Catwoman's costume was the one that allowed me to tell the story through my body." "The words were brilliant, and funny on top of that," she told the outlet. "The producer hired the right people to do all the lighting, to do this, that and the other, and it was the right time in the right decade. It all worked." Newmar slipped back into her catsuit — figuratively, at least — decades after Batman first aired, voicing the iconic feline in animated movies Batman: Return of the Caped Crusaders and Batman vs. Two-Face, which were released in 2016 and 2017, respectively. Since Newmar first originated the role in the '60s, some of the biggest names in Hollywood have donned the iconic black catsuit, including Eartha Kitt, Michelle Pfeiffer, Halle Berry and Anne Hathaway. In Matt Reeves' The Batman in 2022, Zoë Kravitz played the iconic anti-hero alongside Robert Pattinson as the title character. Newmar's non-Catwoman film credits, meanwhile, include a starring role in another '60s series, My Living Doll, an appearance in George Michael's 'Too Funky' music video and, perhaps most famously, a cameo as herself in 1995's To Wong Foo, Thanks for Everything! Iconic 60s actress looks unrecognizable as she heads out in LA on mobility scooter

An iconic actress who rose to fame in the 1960s was spotted on a lowkey outing in Los Angeles this week. The star - who has worked alongside other celebrities such as Marilyn Monroe and Adam West during her decades-long career - soaked up the warm sunshine during a scooter ride in a quiet neighborhood. The Tony winner is none other than Julie Newmar, 91, who is known for her role as Catwoman in the Batman TV series in the 60s. She kept it casual wearing a pair of gray trousers as well as a light blue shirt and black slippers. Newmar was born in Los Angeles in August 1933 and pursued her passion for performing by becoming a dancer at an early age. When she was a teenager, Julie notably was a prime ballerina for the Los Angeles Civic Grand Opera Company. Throughout the early 50s, she had a number of uncredited roles - including being a chorus girl in the 1953 movie Gentleman Prefer Blondes, which had starred both Marilyn Monroe and Jane Russell. The following year, Julie appeared in the film Seven Brides For Seven Sisters and at the time, she was credited with the last name Newmeyer. In 1959, Newmar starred in the Broadway play The Marriage-Go-Round which earned her a Tony Award for Best Featured Actress in a Play. Two years later, she also appeared in the film adaptation of the play which had also cast Susan Hayward and James Mason. Based on her performance, Julie garnered a Golden Globe nomination for Most Promising Newcomer. From 1996 through 1967, the actress took on the role of the first live-action Catwoman in the series Batman - which also starred Adam West and Burt Ward. During an interview with the Television Academy in 2023, Newmar described the character as 'sexy, seductive, sensuous.' She added, 'The part fit me because I worked to physicalize it, and I have a certain sense of humor that fit the character.' She kept it casual wearing a pair of gray trousers as well as a light blue shirt and black slippers Julie appeared in a total of 13 episodes in the show and Eartha Kitt took over the role in the third season. In regards to the success of the series, Newmar attributed it to the show being in color. 'Very few television shows were in color in 1966. The producer at 20th Century Fox [William Dozier] understood what it should look like. And he got the best writers and expensive color film.' She continued, 'Notably, the camera was occasionally tilted in order to give it that extra boost of camp. Camp was a new thing [on TV].' And while talking to Closer in 2023, the star opened up about whether she knew the role of Catwoman would become iconic. 'Of course not. I mean, you have positive feelings when you are performing it. The people around you are supportive, and the script was wonderful. 'So was everything else. All the other actors - Adam West and Burt Ward were fabulous in the parts. It's something that just comes together sometimes.' Other celebrities have portrayed Catwoman over the years - including Michelle Pfeiffer, Anne Hathaway, Halle Berry and Zoe Kravitz. When asked who her favorite portrayal of the character has been, Julie answered, 'Michelle Pfeiffer, hands down. 'She can do anything. She is my favorite because she's far and away the best actress. She brought levels of creativity to the part.' Other television series that Julie appeared in includes The Love Boat, Columbo, The Defenders, The Twilight Zone, Star Trek and The Beverly Hillbillies. Before her role in Batman, she also had a leading role in the sci-fi sitcom My Living Doll from 1964-1965. She portrayed a prototype robot named Rhoda - and Newmar called the role the 'biggest challenge of my career.' Julie told the Television Academy, 'She was a doll with an IQ of 180-something. She wasn't a real human being. She didn't have understandable emotions - and that would throw off the timing. 'It was the hardest part I ever had to do, the biggest challenge of my career,' the actress expressed. 'It took me many weeks to make it real, so that my body became the character and I didn't have to intellectually direct my movements and behavior. Eventually, Rhoda's movements came naturally to me.' Julie's last credited role was in 2017 when she voiced Catwoman for Batman vs. Two-Face. Newmar has dabbled in other business ventures over the years, such as real estate. As the star approaches her 92nd birthday, the Hollywood icon enjoys spending time on the internet. 'I love the computer. I love the internet. I love the immediate resource of ideas and people around the world. I mean, this is huge progress. And I like to write. I also like to think. 'If I had to get out and go to a studio, that's slow. I love where I am now because things go very fast. I think I'm at the epitome of my life,' she told Closer.
