A new literary festival is set to take place in Cavendish, P.E.I., this fall.
The Cavendish Literary Festival is a three-day event, running from Sept. 26 to 28, to be held in the home of the famed author of Anne of Green Gables L.M. Montgomery.
Manuscript
The manuscript for Anne of Green Gables is one of the most important artifacts from author Lucy Maud Montgomery's life.
Readers, writers and established authors will have the opportunity to connect and share their work.
'Surrounded by the natural beauty and charm of Cavendish, participants will have the opportunity to tap into their creativity, connect with fellow storytellers, and celebrate the transformative power of literature,' reads a news release from the festival.
Historical fiction author Donna Jones Alward and journalist, broadcaster and novelist Linden MacIntyre are scheduled to headline the event. Other programming highlights include:
creative writing workshops
author panels and discussions
wellness activities including yoga, guided nature walks and breathing workshops
social gatherings and networking events
'Cavendish has long been a place of literary inspiration,' said Darcy Butler, executive director of Tourism Cavendish Beach, in the release. 'It's the perfect setting for a festival of this kind, and we're very excited to welcome readers and writers to experience everything our Cavendish has to offer!'
Events will take place throughout Cavendish, with a goal of bringing tourism to the area during the shoulder season.
