Kaizer Chiefs: Ex-Pirates duo of Mako and Monyane's expectations

Kaizer Chiefs assistant coach Cedric Kaze has touched on recruitment at the club and how Paseka Mako and Thabiso Monyane are treated no differently. The duo were signed after parting ways with Orlando Pirates in June. Some fans have were under the impression that Amakhosi only signed the two players because they were from Pirates. Kaze though, rubbished the claims, saying the club signs quality players who can fit into their system. Both players have already made their debuts for Kaizer Chiefs this season. 'When you recruit a player, you don't recruit a player differently because he comes from the other side [Pirates]. You recruit a player because of the quality that he has and the work that you see he could be able to do to help the team,' Kaze said, as quoted by SPORTSWIRE . 'I believe that they have already experienced the pressure where they come from, the amount of pressure that we have. It's not only one team, but there are also a lot of teams that are big clubs, and when you come from a big club, then you know the expectations,' he added. Kaizer Chiefs have been the team to watch this season, having won back-to-back league matches and currently top the Betway Premiership. Chiefs assistant coach Kaze calls for calm after Amakhosi's promising start to the season

Kaizer Chiefs supporters are excited after their promising start to the Betway Premiership campaign as one of the early season pacesetters but assistant coach Cedric Kaze is calling for calm. Amakhosi narrowly beat Polokwane City 1-0 at FNB Stadium on Wednesday night and are tied on six points with rookies Durban City, Marumo Gallants and Sekhukhune United at the top of the pile. Kaze said there is a lot of work ahead as they look to fight their way into the top eight bracket at the end of the season, something they failed to do last season. 'It is true that we are confident but we also need to calm down with all the excitement because this is only the second match of the season,' he said. 'There are 28 games to go in the season and we still have a long way to go. We still have a lot things to work on but we look more like a team than before. You can struggle at times by not playing well but in the moments of weakness we are there for each other. That is what I have noticed at this stage of the season.'

Kaizer Chiefs: New signing and R28.5 million striker

Kaizer Chiefs assistant coach Cedric Kaze has hinted that the club could still make several signings before the transfer window closes in September. So far, Amakhosi have announced seven new signings for this season. Head coach Nasreddine Nabi has assessed most of the new players during the team's pre-season camp in the Netherlands last month. This past weekend, Kaizer Chiefs played their first Betway Premiership match and managed to edge out Stellenbosch FC 2-0 in Athlone to extend their unbeaten run against the Cape side. 'Let me just say that if an opportunity presents itself that is worth it, we will take it,' Kaze said. 'We still have a foreign spot, but we will not fill it up just because of filling it up. 'If an opportunity is worth it we will probably take it,' he added. This week, Kaizer Chiefs announced the signing of former Cape Town Spurs winger Asanele Velebayi. The attacker joined for free following a despute from his previous club. Etiosa Ighodaro has been the subject of transfer speculation, with Chiefs reportedly interested. The Nigerian striker is valued at around R28.5 million by Transfermarkt. Mamelodi Sundowns are not looking to loan him but are prepared to offload him for the right price. Kaizer Chiefs updates: New full back and winger

Betway Premiership giants Kaizer Chiefs have good news. Assistant coach Cedric Kaze confirmed Paseka Mako is back from injury and ready for selection. The former Orlando Pirates star suffered a broken arm that ruled him out of the pre-season tour, the Toyota Cup tie, and the 2-1 opening win over Stellenbosch FC in the league. The 31-year-old from Zebediela, Limpopo, is now Kaizer Chiefs' fifth fit left back. Mako, who has vast experience in 233 Betway Premiership games from his spells at Chippa United and the Buccaneers, will be available for selection as Amakhosi take on Polokwane City in Johannesburg this evening…Full story here. Kaizer Chiefs star Pule Mmodi is back. The 32-year-old winger from Theunissen, Free State, has served his suspension after the red card he picked up against Sekhukhune United on 17 May last season. That sending-off ruled him out of Kaizer Chiefs' first Betway Premiership match of the new campaign — Sunday's 2–0 win over Stellenbosch FC at the Athlone Stadium. Last season, Pule was one of Amakhosi's most reliable players, with four goals and one assist in 24 games, including the Nedbank Cup and Carling Knockout…Full story here. The wait's over. Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Ethan Chislett, signed from Port Vale in England, is ready to start his Betway Premiership career.
