Bear Grylls reveals future of Celebrity Bear Hunt and pays poignant tribute to Netflix co-star Holly Willoughby - admitting 'she hasn't had an easy journey'
Bear Grylls has revealed the future of Celebrity Bear Hunt and paid a poignant tribute to his co-star Holly Willoughby. The reality show competition hit our screens on streaming service Netflix back in February. The eight-part series saw 12 famous faces get hunted by Bear after being dropped in an American jungle. Since the show wrapped up, many have wanted to know if there will be another series in the future. Speaking on BBC Radio 2 over the weekend, Bear said: 'God willing, we are bringing Bear Hunt back. 'And we're hoping to do it live so it's going to be a live version, which Netflix have never done before - raw, real, hunt them down!' From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the DailyMail's new Showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop. Speaking about his co-star Holly, Bear said: 'Holly was so fun to work with. I'd never had that before working alongside someone like that, she hasn't had an easy journey but what a great girl she did brilliantly, she really did' While Bear was busy hunting the stars down, he was also joined by former This Morning host to present the programme. Speaking about his co-host Holly, he added: 'Holly was so fun to work with. 'I'd never had that before working alongside someone like that, she hasn't had an easy journey but what a great girl she did brilliantly, she really did.' The show was produced by Bear, Delbert Shoopman, Ben Mitchenn, Olly Nash, Saul Fearnley and Charlie Bennett. The production company who made the show was The Natural Studios, Workbee and Talkback. Fans were also obsessed with the star-studded cast. Rapper and cook Big Zuu was crowned winner of the first series. Journalist Steph McGovern and singer Una Healy ended up placing joint second. Model Lottie Moss, actor Kola Bokinni, comedian Joe Thomas, Strictly's Shirley Ballas, former rugby union player Danny Cipriani, singer Mel B, retired tennis star Boris Becker, TV star Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen and model Leomie Anderson also took part. It comes just weeks after it was revealed that the show 'faced the axe' after just one series. It's been reported that the show, which proved to be a hit with viewers and critics, needs to have mega-budget cuts if it is to return with hosts Holly, 44, and Bear Grylls, 50, likely to face pay cuts. A cheaper location is also being sought, as well as plans for fewer expensive celebrities. A source has now told The Sun: 'It got excellent reviews and was a brilliant production. Bosses were happy with its performance. 'Yet if it is recommissioned, cuts will 100 per cent be made and this could include talent salaries — both Holly and Bear as well as the celebs. 'All measures are being explored. As to location, think Clacton or Croatia, not Costa Rica.' MailOnline contacted Netflix, Holly Willoughby and Bear Grylls ' representatives for comment at the time. The 2025 cast jetted off to Costa Rica in May last year to film the show. An insider told The Sun last year: 'Signing up Steph and Joe have made this one of the most diverse and unusual celebrity line up ever seen on a show like this. 'The dozen celebrities come from incredibly different backgrounds - whether it's ballroom dancing, singing, sport or interior design. They'll each bring something to the mix. 'None of the choices are obvious - particularly not Steph and Joe, neither of whom have been on our screens in some time.' Celebrity Bear Hunt is available to stream on Netflix now.
