Kuwait to invite bids for 900MW gas turbines

Kuwait intends to issue tenders for the supply, installation and operation of gas turbines to expand the generation capacity of one of its power plants by nearly 900 megawatts (MW), the Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy Ministry has said. The Central Agency for Public Tenders (CAPT) has approved a request by the Ministry to issue tenders for the expansion project at Subiya station in South Kuwait, the Ministry said in a statement on Thursday. The project, which is intended to face a steady rise in domestic demand, is expected to be completed within 36 month, the statement said. In early 2025, the Ministry said it would invite bids for Subiya and another power plant as part of a drive to increase domestic power supplies. The Subiya project is estimated to cost around 257 million Kuwaiti dinars ($848 million) while the other one at Nuwaiseeb in Al-Ahmadi Governorate has a cost of nearly KWD950 million ($3.135 billion). Kuwait's CAPT approves four bids for Shuwaikh Water Complex

KUWAIT CITY - The Central Agency for Public Tenders (CAPT) on Wednesday approved four bids for the construction, completion, maintenance and development of the Shuwaikh Water Distribution Complex, along with the associated works, say sources from the Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy. The agency stated that the tender documents will be forwarded to the ministry for review. The ministry will then evaluate the bids and present recommendations within 30 days. Sources indicated that this tender is a major project for the ministry, as it is aimed at developing the country's water storage capacity by 71 million imperial gallons and boosting the daily pumping capacity of low-salinity water by 23 million gallons. 'Following approval from CAPT, the ministry will refer the tender to the State Audit Bureau (SAB) for further study and approval. Once the contract is approved, the ministry will proceed with implementing the project. The ministry has allocated an estimated budget of KD 7.1 million for the project,' sources added. Kuwait: $39mln approved for ICT in Terminal 2 project

KUWAIT CITY - The Ministry of Public Works has received approval from the Central Agency for Public Tenders (CAPT) to activate a reserve amount of KD 6 million for information and communications technology (ICT) for the construction and completion of the second package of buildings (service buildings, roads leading to the new passenger terminal T2, and parking lots). The ministry also obtained approval for a further increase of KD 6.018 million, bringing the total to KD 12.095 million. According to informed sources, the communications and information technology network is one of the components of the new passenger terminal T2 project, which aims to electronically link all parties involved in airport operations after its completion and handover to the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), the beneficiary entity. The ministry had allocated a total of KD 83 million to cover this aspect for the various stages of the project's implementation. On the other hand, the sources indicated that the ministry recently received approval from CAPT to proceed with a contract for the study and design of infrastructure improvement works in Abdullah Al-Salem and Nuzha, at a total cost of KD 301,500. They said the contract aims to assess the needs for upgrading the old sewage network, enhancing its efficiency, eliminating the malfunctions caused by aging infrastructure and the end of its useful life, as well as preserving the environment and reducing pollution. In addition, the sources revealed that an executive tender for the project will be issued once the study is complete, after which CAPT will offer it to companies to compete for it by submitting technical and financial bids.
