Dilli Dark Makers Asked By CBFC To Add Unique Disclaimer

Last Updated: CBFC asked Dilli Dark makers to add a message clarifying it doesn't depict real Delhi and isn't meant to offend. Directed by Dibya Das Roy, it addresses racism and social issues. If you're going to watch Dilli Dark in the theatre, you might notice something different at the start. The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has asked the makers to add a special message before the movie begins. Dilli Dark, directed by Dibya Das Roy, is a funny but serious movie about racism and social issues in Delhi. The CBFC wanted the filmmakers to add a note saying the movie doesn't show the real Delhi and isn't meant to hurt or offend the people living there. People involved with the movie said the board was worried that some might think the film is attacking Delhi or its citizens. So, this message helps explain that the movie is just a story and not about hurting anyone. An insider told Mid-Day, 'While understanding the satirical tone, the board felt that the narrative might be interpreted by some as a generalisation of Delhi and its residents. The disclaimer was suggested to prevent a backlash." The disclaimer says that the movie is a made-up story. It doesn't show the real life or spirit of Delhi, and it's not meant to hurt or offend the people who live there. Dilli Dark, praised at various film festivals, tells the story of a Nigerian MBA student living in Delhi who faces both obvious and hidden racism. A senior member of the film team, who wished to stay anonymous, said, 'If adding this disclaimer stops people from misunderstanding the film, we're fine with it. But since the movie is already rated A, we don't really think the disclaimer is necessary." Some strong language in the film has also been muted. Dilli Dark is a 2023 Indian drama film made in both English and Hindi. It is directed by Dibakar Das Roy and stars Samuel Abiola Robinson, Geetika Vidya Ohylan, and Shanatu Aham. The film was shown at various film festivals. The plot revolves around Michael Okeke, a charming young man from Nigeria, left his home six years ago to make a life in the busy and often chaotic city of New Delhi. Though he has mixed feelings about the city, he hopes to find true love and a better job. However, life in Delhi pulls him into a tough world revolving around the '4 Cs": cell phone, cocaine, cash, and clients. First Published:

Housefull 5: 11 seconds axed from Akshay Kumar starrer, what didn't make it to final cut?

Housefull 5, starring Akshay Kumar, Abhishek Bachchan, and Ritesih Deshmukh in lead roles, is grabbing headlines even before its release for all the right reasons. Recently, the much-awaited film's trailer was released, and it promises a fun rollercoaster ride. Now, according to a report, 11 seconds have been cut from the film by CBFC before granting them a U/A 16+ certificate. Yes, you heard that right! A report in Bollywood Hungama stated that the makers had to make some small changes in Housefull 5, including some dialogue and chopping some scenes of around 11 seconds, to pass the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). Several changes were made before being given a U/A 16+ certificate. Dialogues such as 'nikaal dungi' and 'apne' were edited. Words like 'item' and 'haram' were substituted with more appropriate alternatives, and a dialogue at the 1-hour 53-minute mark was ordered to be removed. Apart from the above-mentioned dialogues, the film received three visual cuts. According to the cut list, a scene depicting 'champagne coming' was trimmed, while two scenes featuring some hand gestures were 'suitably modified'. Additionally, a scene featuring 'sensual visuals' was shortened by 2 seconds. Overall, 11 seconds of footage were trimmed from the final cut. Only after these changes were made, Housefull 5 received a censor certificate from CBFC. Earlier, Pinkvilla exclusively reported that the producers had submitted two different versions of the comedy thriller to CBFC. The source also shared that given the long star-studded cast of the film, the run-time of Housefull 5 is longer than other films of the franchise which is 2 hours and 43 minutes. Housefull 5 features a star-studded cast including Akshay Kumar, Riteish Deshmukh, Abhishek Bachchan, Sanjay Dutt, Nana Patekar, Jacqueline Fernandez, Sonam Bajwa, Nargis Fakhri, Jackie Shroff, Chitrangada Singh, Soundarya Sharma, Chunky Pandey, Nikitin Dheer, Johnny Lever, Dino Morea, Shreyas Talpade and Fardeen Khan. It is all set to hit the theaters on June 6, 2025

Housefull 5 gets U/A certificate after CBFC trims ‘champagne comming', ‘sensual visuals', and dialogues; both Housefull 5A and 5B versions cleared

The fifth installment of the hit Housefull franchise is all set for a theatrical release on June 6, and just ahead of its premiere, the comedy entertainer has cleared all formalities with the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). Directed by Tarun Mansukhani and produced by Sajid Nadiadwala , Housefull 5 has been granted a U/A 16+ certificate, but not without a few mandatory cuts and tweaks. Minor audio and visual edits ahead of release As per a report by Bollywood Hungama, the CBFC instructed the makers to implement minor modifications before granting clearance. On the audio front, changes included altering the dialogue 'nikal dungi' and another line starting with 'apne', along with replacing certain words such as 'item' and 'haram' with more socially acceptable alternatives. One particular dialogue at the 1 hour and 53-minute mark was also ordered to be removed. Visually, the film saw three key edits. A scene involving 'champagne comming' was trimmed, and two scenes containing inappropriate hand gestures were suitably modified. Additionally, a brief moment featuring 'sensual visuals' was reduced by two seconds, contributing to a total of 11 seconds of trimmed or altered footage. Housefull 5 - Official Trailer Dual certification: A new strategy? In an interesting move, the CBFC has certified two versions of the film—Housefull 5A and Housefull 5B—on May 28. While it's unclear how the two versions differ, both have the exact same runtime of 165.48 minutes (2 hours, 45 minutes, and 48 seconds), making this a first-of-its-kind strategy for a mainstream Bollywood film. CBFC Tones Down Sensual Scenes, Alters Words In Akshay Kumar's Housefull 5: Report

Last Updated: CBFC asked for multiple audio-visual changes in Housefull 5, including replacing words and trimming sensual visuals by 2 seconds. Akshay Kumar's much-anticipated film Housefull 5 is gearing up for a grand release on June 6, 2025, and ahead of its debut, the movie underwent a round of changes as mandated by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). Directed by Tarun Mansukhani, the film boasts a star-studded ensemble including Abhishek Bachchan, Riteish Deshmukh, Jacqueline Fernandez, Nargis Fakhri and Sonam Bajwa. The CBFC has granted Housefull 5 a U/A 16+ certificate but not without asking for several modifications. As per a report by Bollywood Hungama, certain audio elements had to be altered or removed. These include the replacement of the words 'item' and 'haram', while a specific dialogue at the 1 hour 53 minute mark has been completely cut. Another line, featuring the phrase 'nikal dungi', was also modified. What's even more intriguing is that Housefull 5 will release with two versions, each having a different climax. This marks a first for a Bollywood film. Both versions, however, share the same runtime – 165 minutes and 48 seconds – as per the certification details. Whether this bold move of offering dual climaxes will give the film an edge at the box office remains to be seen. With a release lined up for the Bakra Eid weekend, Housefull 5 is expected to open to packed houses. The film also features an impressive supporting cast including Sanjay Dutt, Fardeen Khan, Shreyas Talpade, Nana Patekar, Jackie Shroff, Dino Morea, Chitrangada Singh, Soundarya Sharma, Chunky Pandey, Nikitin Dheer, and Johnny Lever.
