Raul the new named linked with the vacant RB Leipzig head coach role

Bild reports that former Real Madrid Castilla head coach and ex-striker, Raul, is a new name linked with the vacant RB Leipzig head coaching role. Raul is leaving his role as head coach of Real Madrid's second team, Castilla, as he looks to take the next step in his career. The former striker has previously rejected former club Schalke, as they search for their new head coach. It has been rumoured that there has been contact between Leipzig and Raul. Advertisement However, the name that is gaining traction is head coach Alexander Blessin. kicker reports that Blessin and former Werder Bremen head coach Ole Werner are both candidates for the role as well. Leipzig ares struggling to find a new permanent head coach as their two main candidates are Cesc Fabregas and Oliver Glasner, both have valid reasons not to leave their current clubs, especially as Leipzig failed to qualify for Europe. Fabregas is continuing to build a project at Como, while Glasner has qualified for the Europa League with Crystal Palace after winning the FA Cup. This past season has proven a reality check for Leipzig, as without Champions League football, they are no longer as attractive destination as they first thought. GGFN | Jack Meenan

Como boss Cesc Fabregas rejects Bayer Leverkusen move

Serie A side Como faced the threat of losing Cesc Fabregas but the Spaniard has now rejected the chance to join Bayer Leverkusen. La Gazzetta dello Sport have reported that Como have informed the German side that they see Fabregas as an unsellable entity and he will stay at the club this summer. Advertisement There was previously a meeting involving Fabregas and the Bayer Leverkusen management, with the Spaniard having considered the move at one point. But he has now decided to stay at Como and honour his current contract. The ex-Arsenal player has now understood that Como are ambitious and want to operate at the highest level. So much so that he is already looking at potential targets for the summer, with Barcelona's Eric Garcia a target. Bryan Cristante is also a target and Deportivo's Yeremay Hernandez is also liked by the club. Como want to back Fabregas as much as they can in the summer. Kaustubh Pandey I GIFN

Celtic 'agree deal' for two blockbuster friendlies as Brendan Rodgers sees pre-season schedule take shape

The Hoops are gearing up for the defence of their Premiership title as well as the Champions League qualifying rounds Celtic will reportedly step up their preparations for next season by taking on Como and Ajax in a summer tournament in Italy. Brendan Rodgers ' side are already booked in to face Cork City over in Ireland on Tuesday July 8 before getting off for a training camp in Portugal days later. ‌ The Premiership champions will then host Newcastle at Parkhead on Saturday 19, giving them the chance to face off against Champions League opposition ahead of their play-off to reach the revamped group stage at the end of August. ‌ And according to Sun Sport, the Hoops will also take on Serie A high-flyers Como and Eredivisie giants Ajax in late July. They report that Como - who are managed by former Arsenal, Barcelona and Spain star Cesc Fabregas - will be hosting a tournament in the picturesque Italian city. They add that Ajax will be taking part in the tournament due to their close close partnership with the Serie A side and that a deal has now been agreed to see Celtic face the pair on July 24 and July 26. Rodgers' team will then kick-off the defence of their Premiership title on the following weekend of August 2/3. Ajax looked set to win their first Dutch title in three years earlier this month only to concede the championship to rivals PSV Eindhoven on the final day of the season after a shocking collapse. ‌ The Amsterdam club have since parted company with manager Francesco Farioli and are said to be keen on bringing Liverpool first-team coach Johnny Heitinga back to the club. Former defender Heitinga started his playing career with Ajax and briefly served as the first team' interim manager in the second half of the 2022/23 season.
