Horror as girl, 12, plunges to her death from apartment window after petty argument with friend
A sleepover turned tragic when a young Massachusetts girl fell to her death from a third-story window after an argument with a friend over food. Arya Lebeau, 12, was staying with friends at an apartment complex in Southbridge, about 60 miles west of Boston near the Connecticut border, when she got into a disagreement about a slice of pizza early Saturday morning, according to The Southbridge Police Department and the Worchester County District Attorney's Office quickly launched an investigation into what they are calling an 'unattended death'. Though authorities have shared few details so far, the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner is waiting on the results of an autopsy to determine the exact cause. 'I dropped her off for her sleepover, and I just feel like I'm waiting for her to come home,' Charlene Cabrera, Arya's mother, told NBC News. 'I just want justice for my daughter,' she added. 'I want to make sure that this is investigated properly and that we have everything we need to make sure she gets justice.' On Friday night, Cabrera dropped her daughter off at a friend's house after being told a parent would be there, ensuring her young daughter would be supervised, WCVB News reported. However, just two hours later, she received the worst news a parent could hear - her daughter had fallen from an apartment window, and no adults were home. Like Cabrera, Jeremy Lebeau, Arya's father, only learned after the tragedy that the kids had been left home alone. 'Part of her summer list was to have sleepovers, which is what she was doing,' he told the outlet. 'She was the greatest child I could have in my life. I miss her,' he added. 'I just want closure - no matter what, I just want closure, I want answers.' While the investigation is still ongoing, Dimas Cabrera - a woman identifying herself as Arya's grandmother - shared more details about what happened leading up to her granddaughter's death in a Facebook post. She explained that an argument over a slice of pizza quickly escalated, leading to the 12-year-old girl being kicked out the window and falling on her head. The fall, according to the woman, also might have started as a game to 'scare' Arya but quickly got out of hand. Despite being rushed to the hospital for life-saving treatment, Arya tragically passed away just hours later early Saturday morning from her injuries. 'She was so hopeful for the future, and this summer she was really looking forward to many activities with her friends.' A GoFundMe page has been set up to help fund a proper memorial service and support Arya's family as they grieve, honoring the precious memory of her young life. 'I cannot express the amount of grief I feel at the loss of my only baby,' Cabrera wrote to the GoFundMe page. 'I have no words, but would like to thank every single person, parent and child for reaching out and for your loving support,' she added. 'It is truly beautiful seeing a whole community coming together to support her.' 'I know we will raise enough money to give my baby girl a peaceful rest.'

ID released for child who died after falling out of window in Central Mass.
The name of a child who died after falling out of a window at a Central Massachusetts home Saturday has been revealed. Arya Lebeau, 12, of Southbridge, died after she fell from a third-story window on Saturday, May 24 in Southbridge, according to the Worcester County District Attorney's office. 'It is with profound sadness that we share the passing of our forever loved Arya Lebeau,' a GoFundMe account organized by a family friend and neighbor reads. 'This fund will help her mother, Charlene Cabrera, in her time of grief of a loss so overwhelming, to provide a fitting memorial service and support her family as they grieve, and to honor the cherished memory of Arya's young life,' it reads. The campaign has raised more than $14,000 of its $16,000 goal as of Tuesday afternoon. The Office of the Massachusetts Chief Medical Examiner is expected to perform an autopsy, the Worcester County District Attorney's office previously said. Lebeau's death is under investigation by the Southbridge Police Department and Massachusetts State Police detectives assigned to the D.A.'s office. Mother of 12-year-old girl who fell to her death from window in Southbridge seeking answers
A 12-year-old girl is dead after falling out of a third-story window in Southbridge over the weekend. Arya Lebeau was at a friend's house when she fell to her death, her mother, Charlene Cabrera, told Boston 25 on Monday. 'We don't have any answers right now, but I'm hoping that soon we will get answers,' said Cabrera. Cabrera wants to know exactly how her daughter Arya fell out of a third-story window on Saturday. She says her daughter was at a sleepover at her friend's house, and heard there may have been an argument between them. 'Next thing, my daughter fell through the window. There really isn't much more to say about it, you know what I mean. It's just very tragic and should have never happened,' said Cabrera. A memorial now marks the spot where Arya died outside the apartment building on Village Drive in Southbridge. The Worcester County District Attorney says they responded to the unattended death of a child after that child fell out of a window. 'I mean, I want justice for my daughter, so if something did happen, (was) malicious, then ' said Cabrera. An investigation is ongoing, while the flowers, candles and balloons pile up for Arya both where she died and outside her home. Her mother is now holding on to the memories. 'Just her loud personality, she was beautiful, like so beautiful. She wanted to be a model. She loved doing her dances and her makeup. She loved doing her makeup and her hair,' said Cabrera. Cabrera says she's thankful for all of the support from this community as she plans a funeral for her daughter and hopes to get some closure soon. 'I know with everything going on, there's a lot of hate from a different perspective, but I only want to focus on the love and the love that my daughter put out there,' said Cabrera. The DA says the Medical Examiner is still performing an autopsy and this child's death is still under investigation. This is a developing story.
