Peter Malinauskas on The Chase Australia
Don't miss out on the headlines from SA News. Followed categories will be added to My News. Premier Peter Malinauskas has come up on a question for a popular Australia television game show, with a character admitting she was distracted by how good he 'looks in his swimsuit'. The question on the show, The Chase Australia, asked contestants, 'which Labor politician was elected State Premier First? The answers available for contestants were, former Victorian Premier, Daniel Andrews, Premier Peter Malinauskas, and New South Wales Premier, Chris Minns. The contestant answered correctly with former VIC Premier, Mr Andrews, but it was the Chaser, Cheryl Toh, who stole the moment, admitting that she got the answer wrong because she was thinking about Mr Malinauskas' looks. 'I had a bit of a brain fade there, thinking about how good Peter looks in his swimsuit,' she said. 'He's a really good looking fit guy and I got so distracted.' The moment drew laughs from all involved in the back-and-forth about Mr Malinauskas, who in 2022, was photographed at the North Adelaide Aquatic Centre shirtless. Host Larry Emdur responded to Ms Toh, reminding her what game show she worked on. 'You do now this is the Chase, not the Bachelor right,' he said. Ms Toh responded to the game show host, adding one more thing to say. 'Peter Malinauskas could go on the Bachelor if he wasn't already married,' she said. The Chase Australia is a game show which has been running since 2015, where contestants compete against the Chaser (Ms Toh), who is considered a 'quiz expert'. ITV The Chase star breaks huge rule as he says 'I'll make them a favour'
Our community members are treated to special offers, promotions and adverts from us and our partners. You can check out at any time. More info The Chase star Paul Sinha broke a significant rule on the ITV quiz show just before the final chase. During Thursday's episode (May 22), Bradley Walsh was back in charge, welcoming four new contestants to the teatime programme. The 64-year-old host introduced Dave, Sophie, Adam and Liz to the show where they were challenged with general knowledge questions. They faced off against Paul, also known as The Sinnerman, who certainly brought his top game. First to step up was Dave, who impressed viewers by earning £7,000. The West Midlands contestant managed to keep his cool during the tense face-off with the professional quizzer, banking his winnings and securing his spot in the final chase, reports the Express. Unfortunately, his teammates struggled to maintain his winning momentum. Next to face the Chaser was Sophie, who earned a respectable £4,000 in her cash-builder round. However, the pressure got to her and she was caught out with three questions left. Her teammate Adam also met the same fate after earning £3,000 in the cash-builder round. Adam threw caution to the wind despite stumbling over some simple queries. Opting to disregard his team's counsel, he chanced his arm at the lofty £53,000 offer, only to be eliminated by the chaser with just one question remaining. Liz then stepped up to the plate, equalling her fellow contestant Dave's impressive £7,000 win. She managed to just scrape through to join him in the final round, where Paul extended a rare olive branch to the pair. Paul said: "I rarely give make favours if there's only two back but they both got £7,000 in their cash builder and they could get a really good score. So I'll make them a slight, very slight, favour." With suspense hanging in the air, Bradley eagerly queried: "What's the target to beat?" The chaser disclosed: "19", prompting Liz and Dave to exchange a knowing look, as they were tasked with a potentially attainable goal of 19 correct answers. But when it came to the final chase, the pair only managed to answer 12 questions correctly with their two point advantage. In the final match, Paul caught them with 10 seconds to spare after three pushbacks from the team of two. The Chase airs weekdays on ITV1 at 5pm

The Chase's Darragh Ennis tests fans with quiz question that only 5% of people answer right
The Chase star Darragh Ennis, better known as The Menace, has shared a seemingly simple quiz question on his social media which the majority of people can not answer correctly. The Chase star Darragh Ennis has presented fans with a question that only those among the top 5% of brains will be able to answer correctly. If you're a fan of quiz shows, there's a good chance you've tuned into ITV's The Chase, where hopeful contestants attempt to outrun the Chaser by answering a series of tough questions. These Chasers are professional geniuses, the very best of UK quiz gurus and they regularly prove their talent by beating teams on the programme. Darragh Ennis, better known as The Menace on the Bradley Walsh quiz show, not only stumps contestants on the telly but also delights followers with brain teasers and intriguing facts on his social media profiles. In one of his recent TikToks, the Chase star sent viewers into a frenzy, revealing that a staggering 95% can't crack his clever question. In his video, Darragh says: "Do you want to know a really easy sounding quiz question almost everybody will get wrong? Seriously, about 95% of people will get this wrong, and it sounds so simple." He then poses his simple task: "Name a berry." You may think this is straightforward and many believe it would basically be a freebie point at your local pub quiz. But hold your fire before blurting out the first answer that comes to mind because there is a twist, the Mirror reports. While most people typically blurt out strawberry or perhaps raspberry in response to this seemingly simple question, Darragh has pointed out that these aren't actually berries. So if you guessed either, you've just joined the majority of people who messed up the answer. Join the Daily Record WhatsApp community! The Chaser clarified: "If you said strawberry, blackberry, or raspberry, you're wrong. They are not technically berries. "Berries are a very specific type of fruit. They have to come from a single ovary of a single flower, and have no stones for seeds. So if you said peach, plum, or cherry, they're not berries either. "But what are berries, and this is the bit that is absolutely bonkers, are things like bananas, aubergines, and watermelons." Some fruits, such as cranberries and blueberries, are right to call themselves berries. In an unexpected twist, avocados also make the cut as berries despite their seemingly stony centre due to their thin, fleshy layer around the seed. Darragh couldn't help but throw in a pun towards the end of the clip about comedian Matt Berry. He told his followers: "If you said Matt Berry, then you're the most devious quizzer in New York City. You can take two extra bonus points." Join the Daily Record WhatsApp community! Get the latest news sent straight to your messages by joining our WhatsApp community today. Viewers had a mixed reaction to the clip, while some were caught off guard, others boasted that it was "common knowledge" to know which fruits are actually real berries. One confident viewer replied: "Banana! Because it's got seeds inside. Strawberries are drupes because their seeds are outside. "Peaches are stone fruit, not berries. You'd have to get up pretty early in the morning to stump me with that one, Darragh!" A fellow commenter added: "No such thing as a universally easy question. It's easy if you know it, and it's not if you don't."

ITV The Chase host Bradley Walsh left confused by contestant's link
The Chase viewers rushed to social media to share their thoughts after they saw the latest batch of contestants on the ITV show The Chase enthusiasts didn't miss a beat when they noticed an amusing connection between the contestants' names on the show. The latest episode featured four fresh contenders, Alvin, Simone, Theo, and Dave, ready to face off against one of Britain's top quiz maestros for a sizeable cash prize. Bradley Walsh welcomed them onto the ITV programme. The foursome, strangers until the show, hoped to outwit the Chaser—Shaun Wallace, aka 'The Dark Destroyer'. However, eagle-eyed viewers were quick to take to social media to highlight the humorous coincidence among the player's names. A viewer was amused by the "Chipmunks reference", while another chortled: "Are they all Chipmunks?" A third added: "It's the Chipmunks. Dave, and then Alvin, Simon, Theodore!" And yet another remarked: "Alvin, Simone and Theo on The Chase. They knew what they were doing there right? Please tell me they did." The Chaser Shaun also caught onto the reference commenting: "It's the cast of Alvin and the Chipmunks." Host Bradley responded: "I'm sorry I've never seen that, that was completely lost on me," reports the Liverpool Echo. In the beloved 2007 family flick, three chipmunks with a knack for singing—Alvin, Simon, and Theodore—set their sights on stardom in the music world, under the care of Dave Seville until discovered by a music producer. Viewers couldn't help but chuckle at the coincidence of Alvin, Simone, Theo, and Dave appearing together on 'The Chase'. However, this isn't the first occasion the series has seen a group of contestants with intriguingly interconnected names. An episode recently had viewers chuckling with an Avengers twist, featuring players named Tony, Steve, Thor, and Natasha, a fact that didn't go unnoticed by fans or The Menace who made a quip on the matter. Earlier in the year, a "cheesy" event occurred when eagle-eyed viewers spotted names resembling cheeses - think Gordon Ola as Gorgonzola and Leslie Dale for Wensleydale on the popular ITV quiz programme. On his regular quest for knowledge, Shaun faced off against Dave from Northumberland, who notched up £7,000 in the Cash Builder and nabbed a spot in the finale following an impressive round. Theo was eager to match Dave's success; however, after a nail-biting quick-fire session, Theo was eliminated by The Dark Destroyer's swift takedowns. Simone crossed the pond from the USA for her chance at quiz glory. She chose caution over risk and brought back a modest £1,000 to the pot. With high hopes, Alvin stepped up as the last contestant aiming to reach the final but found his efforts thwarted by The Chaser's relentless pursuit. In a tense final chase, Simone and Dave could only muster an 11-point lead, insufficient to best The Dark Destroyer who sent them home with over half a minute spare, ensuring they left with nothing but the experience.

The Chase viewers rage as contestant's 'correct' answer is rejected
Fans of The Chase have raged online after a 'correct' answer given by a contestant was rejected by host Bradley Walsh for a pedantic reason. The ITV quiz show, which started in 2009, sees four players aiming to land a huge prize jackpot by answering more questions than the show's experts, aka Chasers. It's meant to be a tough quiz to crack, with hundreds of contestants not having the requisite knowledge to take home the big prize. But one viewer was denied a point by Bradley, 64, during Wednesday's episode, despite giving a 'correct' answer during the tense final round, which sees contestants answering quick-fire questions to stay ahead of the chaser. Facing off against chaser Darragh Ennis, aka The Menace, teammates Gary, Sarah, Ailsa, and George took a fair chunk of money into the final round. Their total was £48,000, and that was after George took the minus £9,000 offer, knocking his team's potential takings down from a whopping £14,250 each. To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that supports HTML5 video But their impressive game hit an unexpected stumbling block when George answered a question 'correctly', only to be told by Bradley that he'd given the wrong answer after all. When he was asked, 'The term 'carjack' is a blend of 'car' and what other word?' George confidently answered that the other word was 'hijacked'. Expecting to be given the point, the hopefuls were denied it and were eventually caught by The Menace with very little between the two sides. Bradley then explained that the answer George was actually looking for was 'hijack' – which, admittedly, is a different word, even if it is incredibly similar. After initially explaining this to the team, the Blankety Blank and Gladiators presenter added: 'Bad luck with hijacked! You needed hijack.' However, viewers at home were less than happy with the result, with several taking to social media to lodge their complaints over the incident. Reacting on X, Swalk commented, 'Hijack – that was harsh!' while Jonty Sapier also complained with an expletive-laden post accompanied by an angry face emoji. To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that supports HTML5 video Also unhappy was Rob Smith, who said, 'Hijack … Hijacked. This show is getting [worse] every day,' while Bye Horse was dumbfounded: 'Hijacked instead of hijack? [No chance]!' No matter how righteous the viewers' anger was, The Chase is known to be a rock-solid quiz show; hence, it is still one of the most popular on TV, pulling in 3-5million viewers every day as of 2024. In fact, it's been watched by so many people over the years that some viewers think they've spotted how to work out the conclusion to each episode. Fans think that when the Chaser is allowed to explain the thinking behind their answer, it indicates that the final round might be about to be cut very short by a victorious Chaser. More Trending 'There's a lot of waffle in this episode, does that mean the final chase is going to be over very quickly?', Jason posted on X while watching the quiz play out in February. 'The way in which *everyone* is talking the hind legs off a donkey here suggests a target of about three in the Final Chase and a lot of time to have to fill,' user Mysterion_Voice commented.
