Khamzat Chimaev's coach assures cardio on a 'different level' ahead UFC 319 title fight
Coach says to expect a better conditioned Khamzat Chimaev for UFC 319. NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. – Cardio. That's the first thing critics of Khamzat Chimaev point out when looking for any flaws in the Chechen fighter. Although he's generally been a dominant force in the UFC, more often than not running over his opponents in Round 1, Chimaev (14-0 MMA, 8-0 UFC) has had a couple of performances where people have questioned his ability to perform deep into a fight. Ahead of his five-round UFC 319 main event against UFC middleweight champion Dricus Du Plessis (23-2 MMA, 9-0 UFC), those questions have been put forward again by many in the MMA community. However, Joakim Karlsson, Chimaev's head coach, assures that Khamzat has evolved past those issues, and they won't be present on Aug. 16 at United Center in Chicago. "Man, you can't compare Khamzat, now, this time, with (the one from) one, two years ago," Karlsson said at a media day. "It's totally different. He has a different strength and conditioning coach now. It's a different level now. I don't think it's fair to compare him from one, two years ago. It's not the same." Apart from training with famed strength and conditioning coach Sam Calavitta, Karlsson has seen Chimaev step up in all areas of the game now that he's finally fighting for UFC gold. "He's just taking training more serious now," Karlsson explained. "He has good dedication to what he does because now it's serious stuff, it's coming up to a championship fight. So he's been more serious about everything. He's taking care of nutrition, sleep, recovery and everything. He's good."

UAE, Russian Presidents discuss bilateral strategic partnership in Moscow
UAE President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan met with Vladimir Putin, President of the Russian Federation, to discuss enhancing the strategic partnership between the two countries, in addition to regional and international issues of common interest. The two leaders met on Thursday at the Kremlin as part of Sheikh Mohamed's official visit to Russia. During the meeting, Sheikh Mohamed and Putin reviewed progress in UAE-Russia cooperation, particularly in the fields of the economy, trade, investment, space, and energy, as well as other areas that serve the development-focused priorities of both countries and reflect their aim to bolster their strategic partnership. It provides a special bilateral cooperation framework focusing on services and investment, including in the areas of financial technology, healthcare, transportation, logistics, professional services, and others. Suhail Mohammed Al Mazrouei, UAE Minister of Energy and Infrastructure, and Andrey Nikitin, Russian Minister of Transport, also signed a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in the field of land transport. Khamzat Chimaev responds to Paulo Costa's accusations. NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. – Khamzat Chimaev has finally given his side of the story of the accusations fellow UFC middleweight Paulo Costa made against him. Last month, in the lead-up to UFC 319, Costa claimed that Chimaev (14-0 MMA, 8-0 UFC) privately made contact with his wife on Instagram and sent her "nasty" messages. Costa didn't specify what was said exactly, but it was enough to get him fuming, calling for a fight against Chimaev both before and after his decision win over Roman Kopylov at UFC 318. Since that July 19 pay-per-view, Chimaev didn't fully address those accusations until now. Speaking to MMA Junkie and other media, Chimaev denies ever reaching out to Costa's wife, he says it was quite the opposite. "Why should I DM somebody's wife?," Chimaev said. "She DM before the fight like when I announced the fight like, 'Khamzat, please don't take it seriously. We're just trying to make money and hype.' I don't care what they are, just going to f*ck your boy up, and that's it. And then he takes it all personally and stuff. I don't care." Chimaev is set to challenge champion Dricus Du Plessis for the middleweight title in the main event of UFC 319 – which takes place on Aug. 16 in Chicago. The Chechen fighter is soley focused on winning UFC gold, but made it clear he wouldn't mind an eventual fight with Costa. He just doesn't see it as a likely possibility. "Bro, I beat the guys who beat him," Chimaev said. "Maybe in the future if he wins a couple of fights, but I don't think he will do that. In the last five years, he's only won one fight."

The US Air Force wants to buy Cybertrucks for target practice because they may start showing up on the battlefield
The Air Force is looking to buy two Cybertrucks for "live missile fire testing." It said the Tesla pickups were "likely" to start appearing on the battlefield. It added that they don't "receive the normal extent of damage expected upon major impact." The US Air Force wants to blow up some Cybertrucks. It's looking to buy two of them to use for munitions testing as they will "likely" soon start appearing on the battlefield, per documents posted on a US Government contracting website on Wednesday. The pickups are part of a larger order of 33 vehicles for "live missile fire testing" at the White Sands Missile Range in New Mexico. The contract stipulates that the Cybertrucks need only be towable, not functional, and their batteries must be removed. The procurement documents were first reported by the defense blog The War Zone. In a separate document justifying why the Tesla vehicles were specifically required, the contracting officer said that US adversaries were "likely" to begin using the stainless steel-clad trucks on the battlefield due to their durability. "In the operating theatre it is likely the type of vehicles used by the enemy may transition to Tesla Cybertrucks as they have been found not to receive the normal extent of damage expected upon major impact," the document says. The Air Force and Tesla did not immediately respond to requests for comment from Business Insider. Tesla's CEO, Elon Musk, said the pickup was built to be "apocalypse proof" when it launched in 2023. Last year, Chechen warlord Ramzan Kadyrov showed off a modified Cybertruck decked out with a machine gun that he said would be sent to the front lines in Ukraine. Kadyrov later accused Tesla of remotely disabling the would-be war machine, calling Musk "not manly." Experts previously told Business Insider the Cybertruck would be "useless" on the battlefield. The electric pickup has also faced eight recalls since its launch for issues including parts falling off and the accelerator pedal getting stuck. Musk predicted Tesla would eventually sell over 250,000 a year in 2023, but the automaker has sold only 10,700 so far this year, per auto industry consultancy Cox Automotive.
