Jenkins has been a brilliant addition for Northop Hall
Fresh from their triumph against Division Two leaders Ainsdale, Hall are looking forward to their trip to St Helens Town. Jenkins, who returned to the club ahead of the current campaign, took five wickets in the success against Ainsdale and he now has 57 for the season, at an average of just 11 apiece. It was Jenkins and James Hurlin who shared all the wickets last time out and skipper Ben Slater said: 'They bowled really well together. It was a great partnership between them both. They got the 10 wickets between them. 'Carwyn (Johnson) and Fin Jenkins put on a 60-odd partnership. It just shows the depth in the squad. 'They could have batted on for a lot longer. It's one of those, you've got to take a positive approach and they ran well.' Northop Hall Seconds will have home comforts for their meeting with New Brighton Seconds. There's a return to action for Chirk after they sat out last weekend's matches in the Shropshire League. A win will be the aim for Chirk, who pay a Division One visit to Newport. Liam Walker's side could do with a positive outcome, having lost their last four contests. In Division Seven, Chirk Seconds are at home to Harcourt.

Trio disappointed as they all slip to league losses
Paul Jenkins had the hosts in a spin, taking 6-57 in his 27.4 over haul as Wavertree were bowled out for 135. Carwyn Johnson also took 3-27 before he top scored with 37 as Hall's reply only reached 123 - 13 runs short of a winning score. Third-placed Hall are now 38 points behind leaders Ainsdale, who beat Prestatyn by seven wickets. Second-placed Caldy won by 24 runs at St Helens Town, who were bowled out for 152. In Division One of the Seconds XI League, Hall were beaten by three wickets at home to Wavertree. Mike Williamson (36) and Gareth Fox (34) helped Hall to 143 but despite Liam Evans-Ford taking 4-77, the visitors reached 144 for seven. Chirk were skittled out for just 76 in a 176-run home Shropshire League hammering at the hands of Worfield Seconds. The visitors opened up with 252 for seven, Billy Swarbrick and Hidayat Haroonkhail taking two wickets each. Shaun Walker's 34 was the highlight of Chirk's response as Tom Parker landed 5-25. It was just as bad for Chirk Seconds in Division Seven as they were thrashed by 164 runs at Condover Seconds, who posted 218 for eight (Alfie Shaw 4-55). Harry Lunt (11) was the only one to reach double figures for Chirk, who were dismissed for just 54. Rick Moore's super century was all in vain as Chester Boughton Hall lost by six wickets at home to Nantwich in the Cheshire County Premier League. Moore blasted 108 in Hall's 232 with Andrew Metcalf adding 40 before Luke Robinson's unbeaten 126 led the visitors to a match-winning 236 for four (Jack Williams 3-87). Neston celebrated a 71-run win at home to Oxton, who were bowled out for 136 chasing the hosts' 207 for five. Matthew Maritz top scored with an unbeaten 83 for Neston as he put on 98 with David Manchett (52 not out). Matthew Strong snapped up 5-39 as Oxton were bowled out cheaply.

Northop Hall will look to their threatening attack again
Hall are one of three teams battling for the two promotion spots and bowling has proved to be a real strength of the side, who head to Wavertree tomorrow. Paul Jenkins finished with a superb six for 54 return in 21.5 overs during the eight-wicket success versus St Helens Town last time out and he was well supported by Carwyn Johnson (3-41) and James Hurlin (1-24). Slater said: 'It was really comfortable and Paul Jenkins bowled an excellent spell, well supported by Carwyn and James. We've not played everyone just yet, but as in an overall attack it's definitely one of the best in the league. 'Ainsdale have a very good attack, so ours is up there.' Matthew Jones (57 not out) and Slater (31 not out) led Hall to their latest success. 'I think one of those things over the last couple of weeks, if the top order aren't scoring runs, the middle order can all score runs,' added the skipper, who will welcome Finley Jenkins back into the line-up for tomorrow's away encounter. Northop Hall will be looking to achieve their eighth triumph of the campaign tomorrow, but Slater is not anticipating an easy contest versus sixth-placed Wavertree. 'They are a good side and they are always a solid team,' he added. 'They can bat time if they need to.' Hall Seconds will look to make the most of home comforts versus Wavertree Seconds. It's about making a return to winning ways for Chirk in Shropshire League action tomorrow. Following a decent spell in Division One, Liam Walker's side lost out by four wickets at Bomere Heath in their most recent encounter. A better outcome will be the aim as Chirk host mid-table rivals Worfield Seconds tomorrow. In Division Seven, Chirk Seconds pay a visit to Condover Seconds.

Promotion-seeking Northop Hall aim for home comforts benefit
However, there are no certainties and third-placed Hall will not be taking lowly visitors St Helens Town lightly. Skipper Ben Slater said: 'Obviously, we're not taking our eye off the ball. They only came down from Division One last year and they have got some good players in their squad.' It's just a case of trying to win matches from Hall's perspective as they look to maintain the pressure on Ainsdale and Caldy, the sides in the Division Two promotion spots. Northop Hall Seconds are on their travels to New Brighton Seconds tomorrow. Chirk are on an excellent run of form in the Shropshire League and they will be looking to continue the positive vibes when they make the Division One trip to Bomere Heath tomorrow. It's a meeting of two in-form teams, with both triumphing in their last two run outs. Last time out, Chirk were able to get the better of Cound by 16 runs in a tight showdown. Captain Liam Walker led from the front with his effort of 88 in Chirk's 157 all out. Hidayat Haroonkhail then picked up four for 25 as Cound's response was concluded on 141. Nitish Sharma (2-22) and Walker (2-28) also impressed for Chirk. In Division Seven, Chirk Seconds host Condover Seconds. St Asaph's Will Ryan will be the captain when Wales National County (North) tackle Staffordshire Seconds this Sunday. Stone Cricket Club will be the venue for the 50 overs-per-side encounter. A trio of St Asaph players are in the North Wales 12, with Dan Evans and Matt Ryan also included. Hawarden Park's Evan Shaw is included, alongside Bangor pair Nat Scott and Jamie Grimshaw, Menai Bridge's Patrick Glover, Neston's Ben Beaver (pictured above), Nantwich's Jason Foulkes and Newtown's Griff Davies. The line-up is completed by Denbigh duo Harrison Jones and Ranija Abeysinghe. North Wales will look to build on their 71-run success versus Shropshire Academy last time out. Harrison Jones (71), Brymbo's Sam Aplin (54) and Will Ryan (52 not out) pushed North Wales to 295 for four, before three wickets apiece from Jason Foulkes and Matt Russell played their part in the home side's 224 all out.

Northop Hall are aiming to keep promotion push on course
Slater and his Northop Hall side are enjoying a fine season in Liverpool Competition action and they are well in the mix to secure promotion from Division Two. Looking to stretch their unbeaten run, Hall make the trip to Whitefield (Roby) tomorrow, while they were left frustrated last time out as their crunch top-of-the-table showdown with Caldy had to be abandoned. Skipper Slater said: 'We thought we had a chance of seeing where we were at, but unfortunately the rain came. 'We managed to get out for five-ish overs, but after that the heavens opened. I think it would have given us an idea of where we are at, so it was a bit disappointing.' Hall have experienced defeat on just one occasion so far this summer and they will be targeting a sixth success of the season at Whitefield, who are currently in ninth place. 'It's one of those,' admitted Slater, looking ahead to tomorrow. 'In this league, anyone can beat anyone. I think they're a relatively new team to the competition, but they've had a bit of a change in squad since last year.' Liam Evans-Ford is rewarded with his promising second team showings by stepping into the first XI once more. There are home comforts in store for Hall's second team tomorrow as they tackle Highfield. In the Shropshire League, Chirk will be aiming to maintain their promising run of form. There have been three wins in their last four encounters for Liam Walker's side, who will be looking for their fourth Division One triumph of the campaign as they welcome fourth-placed Cound. The upturn in outcomes has moved Chirk up into seventh position in the table and they will head into the encounter on the back of a 35-run success at home to Quatt Seconds. Ten overs were knocked off each innings and Chirk's effort in the middle produced 193 for seven. Captain Walker led the way with 86 from 87 deliveries, while opener Oliver Gough struck 58. Walker said: 'It was a good day. We batted well and we bowled well. 'Me and Ollie had a good partnership that set us on the way. We would have liked to kick on to 200-210, but we limped a bit at the end.' Quatt's reply ended on 158 for seven. Mark Shaw was the pick of the attack with three for 33, while there was a wicket apiece for Gough and Luke Gardner (pictured below). Looking ahead to tomorrow, Walker added: 'They have got a good side and they have got good players in their side. They will be strong batting, but we will take it as it comes. 'It's been good (three wins out of four). We never start well, to be honest.' Chirk Seconds are looking to bounce back from a 51-run reverse when they travel to Ludlow Thirds in Division Seven.
