Jose Mourinho responds to claims he will make sensational return to former club
Jose Mourinho has dismissed suggestions he is set to make a sensational return to Inter Milan. Just days after their humiliating Champions League final defeat to Paris Saint-Germain, Inter were on the search for a new head coach with Simone Inzaghi stepping down. The Italian walked away from San Siro after four years at the helm, heading to Saudi Arabia to take the reins at Al-Hilal. Inter were eager to appoint Cesc Fabregas his successor only for the former Arsenal and Chelsea star to pledge his immediate future to Como during the week. Christian Chivu is now expected to be confirmed as the new Nerazzurri boss – but reports claimed Inter first targeted his former manager. Mourinho led Inter to a historic treble in 2010 with Chivu part of the side that conquered Italy and Europe. 'The Special One' has just finished his first season in Turkey with Fenerbahce, finishing nine points behind champions Galatasaray. Italian newspaper Repubblica claimed this week Mourinho was Inter's first choice option before Chivu was approached. But the former Chelsea, Manchester United and Tottenham boss has rubbished those claims. In a message sent to Italian journalist Ivan Zazzaroni through FCInter, Mourinho wrote: 'It's a big lie. There was never even any contact. 'They say this for pissed off people. And so they say it was difficult to leave Fenerbahce and blah blah blah.' Inter are expected to confirm the appointment of former Romania international Chivu in the coming days after a brief spell in charge at Parma. More Trending One of the first items in his in-tray will be Rasmus Hojlund with Inter in talks to sign the Manchester United striker. After a miserable second season at Old Trafford, United are ready to listen to reasonable offers for the striker who cost them £72million just two years ago. Hojlund is thought to have given the move the green light with it now down to United and Inter to agree a deal. United are hoping for a permanent sale but Inter's current offer is season-long loan with an option to buy for €45million. Inter Milan Reach Official Agreement with Romanian Coach Cristian Chivu
Rana Atef On Friday, Inter Milan reached an official agreement with Romanian coach Cristian Chivu, former manager of Parma, to take over as head coach of the first team, succeeding Italian Simone Inzaghi. Inzaghi departed Inter Milan to take over as head coach of Saudi club Al Hilal in the upcoming period. According to Fabrizio Romano, the agreement involves a two-year contract, a decisive step taken after negotiations with Cesc Fàbregas, coach of Como, fell through. Fàbregas had been a prominent candidate for the position. Cristian Chivu is no stranger to Inter fans, having played for the club during his playing career. He also held various coaching roles in the club's youth sector, where he led the U-19 team to the Italian youth league title. Last season, Chivu took on his first managerial experience at the senior level with Parma, stepping in under difficult circumstances when the team was 18th in Serie A, just one spot above relegation, during the 26th round of the league. However, Chivu successfully guided Parma to safety, finishing the season in 16th place, avoiding relegation to Serie B. read more Japan Stun Spain 2-1 to Qualify for World Cup Last 16 World Cup 2022: Get to Know Confirmed Line-ups of Japan and Spain Group E Decider Saudi Arabia Bid Farewell to World Cup after 2-1 Loss to Mexico Tunisia Achieve Historic Win over France but Fail to Qualify Tunisia to Clash against France in World Cup Sports Get to Know Squad of Group D Teams in World Cup Sports Al Ahly Gift EGP 70,000 to Players After Claiming Egyptian Super Cup Title Sports Bencharki Hits First 2 Goals with Al Jazira Since Leaving Zamalek Sports Arsenal Possible Line-up for Nottingham Forest News China Launches Largest Ever Aircraft Carrier Sports Former Al Zamalek Player Ibrahim Shika Passes away after Long Battle with Cancer Lifestyle Get to Know 2025 Eid Al Adha Prayer Times in Egypt Sports Neymar Announced for Brazil's Preliminary List for 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers News Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly Inaugurates Two Indian Companies Arts & Culture New Archaeological Discovery from 26th Dynasty Uncovered in Karnak Temple Business Fear & Greed Index Plummets to Lowest Level Ever Recorded amid Global Trade War Arts & Culture Zahi Hawass: Claims of Columns Beneath the Pyramid of Khafre Are Lies News Flights suspended at Port Sudan Airport after Drone Attacks News Shell Unveils Cost-Cutting, LNG Growth Plan

Inter Milan President Admits ‘Fabregas Was A Possibility, But He Wasn't Available' – Adds That Chivu ‘Isn't A Fallback Option'
Inter Milan President Admits 'Fabregas Was A Possibility, But He Wasn't Available' – Adds That Chivu 'Isn't A Fallback Option' Beppe Marotta says Cesc Fabregas was a 'possibility' for Inter Milan, and that Cristian Chivu is 'not a fallback option.' The Nerazzurri President spoke to Sky Sport Italia, via FCInterNews. He noted that Inter were not granted the possibility of signing Fabregas by Como. Advertisement It is hardly a secret that Inter Milan had considered Cesc Fabregas as a major candidate to replace Simone Inzaghi as coach. Reportedly, Nerazzurri Sporting Director Piero Ausilio had worked to personally convince the Spaniard. However, there was always the key matter of whether or not Como would sanction the move. Lariani President Mirwan Suwarson strongly rebuffed the Nerazzurri's interest, and stated that his club would refuse to release the Spaniard. Therefore, in the end, Inter moved for Cristian Chivu instead of Fabregas. Advertisement 'But we made a very precise choice,' he contended. 'We had a profile that aligned with the guidelines of the club and the ownership. Which were outlined at the start of the last season.' 'We were looking for a similar profile,' said Marotta. 'We explored carious possibilities,' the Inter President made clear. 'One possibility was Fabregas. However, he wasn't made available to us.' 'So we opted for Chivu,' Marotta said. 'Who's not a fallback option.'
