The YSL BLack Opium Le Parfum offers a more vanilla-heavy fragrance that has been hailed as "intoxicating" in reviews, with a 50ml now half-price at Boots after being dropped from £115 to £57.50. Massive saving aside, it's the cheapest it can be bought for at the moment, as rival retailers Superdrug, Lookfantastic and The Perfume Shop still stock it at full-price. This interpretation of the iconic perfume was only launched in 2022, with its original floral gourmand fragrance still offering its famed notes that include pear accord, green mandarin, orange flower petals, jasmine sambac and cinnamon. However, the iconic coffee accord has been twisted with four different, yet still complimentary, notes of vanilla, which is said to be its most important ingredient, to create an "unexpected smoothness, with uncompromising intensity." Meanwhile, the unique glossy bottle that has been crafted from a precious black stone, with its dazzling glitter emblem at the heart, eludes to the luxuriousness of the fragrance contained within. As for the YSL Black Opium Le Parfum, Boots shoppers wanting to take advantage of the half-price discount will be glad to hear it has amassed a 4.7 rating from thousands of customers who say it "lasts all day" and "literally turns heads" when it is worn. One five-star review read: "I love the fragrance. I used a lot the first time, not realising how intense it was. It lasts all day and continues to smell great. I literally turn heads when I wear it." Don't miss Boots' half-price discount on the YSL Black Opium Le Parfum (50ml) that is now £57.50, down from £115. A third buyer left a simple but positive review: 'Great price for quality, only two weeks using it so far so good. It has the perfect size and temperature control to avoid burning your hair.' In contrast, someone else shared: 'This new one isn't as good as my previous unfortunately... takes longer and for some reason makes my hair more static.' Still, others continue to rate it highly: 'Excellent straighteners. I use them at 150° to limit damage and they perform really well even at that low temperature.' Head to Boots to get the Remington Shine Therapy S8500 Hair Straightener while the offer lasts.

Chris Appleton Breaks Silence on His Divorce From Lukas Gage, 2 Years Later

It's been two years since his whirlwind romance with actor Lukas Gage came to an end, but it seems Chris Appleton has no regrets. The celeb hairstylist, who's best known for laying styles on Kim Kardashian and Dua Lipa, recently opened up about his divorce from Lukas for the first time since their separation. During an Aug. 6 appearance on Jay Shetty's On Purpose podcast, Chris revealed how the breakup affected his mental health and why he waited to talk about it so openly. 'This is the first time I've ever spoke about this,' he said. 'I think people have this perception, from social media probably, that I have it together... But the truth is, especially during that time, I was going through a lot of private pain.' In case you need a refresher: Chris and Lukas went public with their relationship in February 2023 and tied the knot just months later in April. According to court docs obtained by People, Chris then filed for divorce in November 2023, citing irreconcilable differences as the reason behind their separation. Their divorce was ultimately finalized in June 2024, with the former couple agreeing to waive spousal support. 'Moving fast doesn't always mean you're reckless,' Chris said of the quick timeline. 'I think sometimes it means you're hopeful.' According to the stylist, he 'would rather love and fall than to never feel anything at all.' He added, 'You can love someone and there not be a forever happy ending. I think you learn so much from it. I think any relationship I've ever gone into, I've learned so much from it.' Though this is the first time Chris has spoken about the end of his short-lived relationship, Lukas previously referred to the marriage 'manic' during a March 2024 appearance on Watch What Happens Live! with Andy Cohen. 'Manic, absolutely unhinged,' he said about the impulsive decision before referring to the fur coats they wore at the Las Vegas chapel where they tied the knot. 'I had a manic episode for six months. Those jackets, those furry jackets…' Lukas continued, 'What happened to me? I don't know, literally, what went through my head. But we live and we learn.' Here's hoping we get more deets from Chris when his memoir, Your Roots Don't Define You, drops next year. Chris Appleton gets candid on short-lived Lukas Gage marriage, coming out to his children

Chris Appleton is a hopeless romantic and won't apologize for it. The celebrity hairstylist, best known for his work with reality-TV star and media mogul Kim Kardashian, opened up about his high-profile marriage to "White Lotus" star Lukas Gage during an Aug. 6 interview on the "Jay Shetty Podcast." Appleton, 42, and Gage, 30, married in April 2023 in a star-studded ceremony that saw Kardashian as the couple's officiant and country music icon Shania Twain perform. However, just six-and-a-half months later, Appleton filed for divorce in Los Angeles court in November 2023, according to court documents reviewed by USA TODAY. The beauty mogul cited "irreconcilable differences" as the reason for the couple's split. Appleton reflected on the intense media scrutiny of his divorce in his conversation with host Jay Shetty: "It was definitely the first time that I'd experienced that magnitude of people being so invested in my private life." Chris Appleton romantic history: Ex Lukas Gage describes 6-month marriage as a 'manic episode' Why Chris Appleton doesn't regret Lukas Gage divorce A few months after Appleton and Gage's divorce, Gage described their marital relationship as "a manic episode for six months" in a March 2024 interview on "Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen." "What happened to me?" Gage told host Andy Cohen. "I don't know literally what went through my head, but we live and we learn." Despite his short-lived marriage to Gage, Appleton told Shetty that there were no hard feelings looking back on the abrupt breakup. "Moving fast doesn't always mean you're reckless," Appleton said. "I think sometimes it means you're hopeful. I think any relationship I've ever been in, I've gone into with an open heart, and I have no regrets about that. I think we shame people too much for leading with an open heart." Chris Appleton honored: Kim Kardashian gushes over celebrity hairstylist Chris Appleton talks emotional toll of coming out to children Appleton, who came out as gay after starting a family with former partner Katie Katon, got candid on the emotional toll that coming out had on him and his children. The hairstylist and Katon share son Billy, 22, and daughter Kitty-blu, 20, who were 8 and 6, respectively, at the time of Appleton's revelation. "They were upset 'cause they knew I was upset, and they were confused and all of a sudden, I just felt like I just messed their life up," Appleton reflected. "I felt like I'd failed as a dad because my job was to protect them. And if anyone ever hurt them, I would protect them. But I was the one hurting them." Appleton, who came out when he was 26, added that his declining mental health at the time led to a suicide attempt. "I felt like it would be better for them to have a dad that was dead than a dad that was gay," Appleton said. "I don't think I ever wanted to die. I wanted to kill the thing that I felt that was destructing my life and the thing that made me feel different as a kid. The thing that made me not blend in with all the other boys and girls." Despite the harrowing experience, Appleton said the ordeal was a "turning point" that inspired him to embrace his queer identity. "I realized I couldn't hate myself any more than I had," Appleton said. "I spent my whole life creating a different world that I thought everyone wanted me to be and tick all the boxes, but I knew I had to reveal the truth." From Leicester To Los Angeles: Meet Chris Appleton, Hair Stylist To The Stars

Celebrity hair stylist Chris Appleton has opened up about the challenges of coming out as gay in his twenties to Katie Katon, his former partner, and their two children. 'I was like, "I'm going to hurt all these people I've created this life with,"' Chris told On Purpose podcast with Jay Shetty. 'We were together for nine years, had two kids and it was a magical nine years. I honestly thought I had it all figured out.' He explained that he 'held [his] breath' between the ages of eight and 27, after which he couldn't do it any longer. When he could 'finally be honest' with himself about his sexuality, he told his wife of 'nine magical years, Katon. 'That was a process,' he said. 'I also had to respect that she needed to go through her own grief.' He went on to explain the 'hardest part' was telling his kids, who are both now adults: Billy, 21, and Kitty-Blu, 20. 'And I think mentally for me, I couldn't really ever get my head around that,' he said, adding that he'd worried they'd 'get bullied' because their dad was gay. Chris Appleton is a celebrity hair dresser. Before he found fame, he worked in a hair salon in Leicester, and grew up in a working class family. He then moved to London, where he honed his hairdressing skills by working up to styling celebrities. In an interview with Pop Sugar, he called his mother his 'muse', explaining he was around nine when he started doing her hair. 'You know, she had a hard life. She was a working mum of 5, so I wanted to make her look glamorous and important even if she didn't feel that way. I'd do her hair in these movie star undoes, like she had been on a red carpet. I remember every time she looked in the mirror, she was taken aback by how different she looked. She'd stand up a bit taller, her shoulders would go back, and it was then I realised, Wow, you can make people look good, but you can also make them feel good. That's where it all started for me,' he said. Things took off for Chris from there, and he now has a whole host of A-list clients under his belt. Chris Appleton was born on June 14, 1983, making him 42-years-old. Kate and Chris actually met in the hair salon when he was just 13 years old. They had their first child, Billy, in 2002, then two years later welcomed their daughter, Kitty-blu. Chris shares a close relationship with his two children - and they presented him with the Fitness Achievement Award at the Hollywood Beauty Awards in 2021. 'Bursting with pride & couldn't be happier that Billy & Kitty-Blu presented me with a fitness achievement award at the @hollywoodbeautyawards today,' he wrote on Instagram. 'Not the only two people in the world that make me look short lol, it was a serious proud dad moment. Love you 2 more than you know.' Appleton's first celebrity client was musician Rita Ora. 'We just vibed. She booked me the day after for a big performance, and I stayed with her for two years. She booked me for every campaign, every red carpet, her tour. I travelled the globe with her. Fortunately I've worked hard to learn my craft, because she wanted to do it all — hair extensions, wigs, hair clip-ins, colour,' he told Pop Sugar. Chris has also worked for Kim Kardashian, Dua Lipa, Jennifer Lopez, Katy Perry Christina Aguilera and Sofia Vergara - to name a few! Not anymore. Chris tied the knot with Euphoria actor Lucas Gage in April 2023 in a star-studded ceremony - Kim Kardashian was the couple's officiant and Shania Twain performed. But sadly, Appleton filed for divorce from Gage after seven months of marriage, with a settlement being reached in June 2024. Nearly two years, he has shared insight into the breakup for the first time. 'You can love someone and there not be a forever happy ending,' he told the On Purpose podcast. 'And just because it's not forever doesn't mean it didn't mean something.' He continued, 'Any relationship I've ever gone into, I've learned so much from it—what's important to me in terms of boundaries, how I want to be loved, how I want to love—and that's a beautiful thing. It means you're always growing and evolving.'

Chris Appleton reflects on coming out to his kids: 'I was feeling shame for them'

Celebrity hairstylist Chris Appleton shared how he told his children and former partner that he was gay, and how he felt like he could 'finally exhale' after he came out. Appleton opened up about his nearly two-decade coming out journey on the Aug. 6 episode of 'On Purpose with Jay Shetty. ' Appleton explained that by the time he was 26, and after being in therapy and moving to Los Angeles, he couldn't keep his secret inside any longer — but he was still nervous about telling his kids. 'My biggest focus in life is being a great dad to two kids, and any parent out there can connect to that. I will always put them before myself,' he said. 'The difficulty with shame is it's very difficult to heal when I wasn't just feeling my shame. I was feeling shame for them.' Appleton, now 42, explained he first told his former partner of nine years, Kate Katon. 'That was a process, and I also had to respect that she needed to go through her own grief,' he said. 'I loved her, I really loved her,' he added. 'And I didn't want to be gay, I didn't want to be different.' After he told Katon, Appleton said he told his family, and then came what he called the 'hardest part': telling his two children, Billy and Kitty-blu. 'My job as a dad, I felt, was to protect my kids. Going through what I went through as a kid, being bullied was horrible,' Appleton said. 'My childhood was a lot of memories are not great ones, so the idea of bringing that to my kids was really painful to feel that they would get bullied because their dad was gay. 'I know the things that kids say, and I know how mean they can be, and I just didn't want them to ever have that shame that was put on me, onto them,' he added of his kids. Appleton said that when he sat down with his former partner to tell his two children, he couldn't say the words. 'I think maybe a lot of people can relate to this. Initially, saying the words 'I'm gay' is a challenge, because once those words are out, it's done,' he said. 'I actually didn't say it. Kate's mom actually said it. 'And then I just saw these two beautiful kids who were, like, 6 and 8, and they were just they were upset, because they knew I was upset, and they were confused,' he continued. 'And all of a sudden, I just felt like I'd just messed their life up, and I felt like I'd failed as a dad, because my job was to protect them, and if anyone ever hurt them, I would protect them. I was the one hurting them, and I couldn't understand that. I also just couldn't hide I was gay anymore.' After he told his kids, Appleton said he 'just shut down' and left to go on a drive. He said he thought, 'It would be better for them to have a dad that was dead than a dad that was gay.' Appleton said he had painkillers and a bottle of alcohol and checked into a hotel room. He explained he called his former partner and 'apologized for the pain' he had caused and later woke up in a hospital room. 'Something changed then, and it was really powerful, because I realized I couldn't hate myself any more than I had, and I couldn't try and stop being gay anymore,' Appleton said. 'I just remember thinking, 'What about if I just surrender?'' he added. ''What about if I'm just gay and I just be that?' I don't really know where to begin with it, and I don't know where it's going to lead me, but it has to be better than what I've been doing.' In that moment, Appleton said he 'decided to live.' 'I think that's the moment where I went back to that 8-year-old boy standing in the window and allowed himself to be seen. That was the beginning of it all, really,' he said. 'So although it was one of the darkest nights of my life, I think it was a turning point.' 'I hope other people in watching this can maybe feel heard or seen and find the help they need,' he said. 'Even maybe it's a parent that is struggling understanding their child, to understand how dark it can be when you're left in silence and when you don't get to express who you truly are.' Appleton said he is in 'a good place' now and added he will share more about his life in his upcoming book, 'Your Roots Don't Define You,' publishing in 2026. He appeared on TODAY Aug. 7 and said the book is 'about finding your true self' and hopes it helps people who are 'silently struggling,' like he once was. 'I hope people, from this book, look in the mirror and actually finally see themselves,' he said, 'and see the version of themselves they can be.'
