Cleverley appoints Plymouth Argyle backroom team

The trio all worked with Cleverley when he was Watford manager before he left the club last month. Advertisement Damon Lathrope will take on the role of assistant head coach - the former Torquay United player had a similar role alongside Cleverley at Vicarage Road. Meanwhile, Matt Bevans joins as first-team coach, and Chris Douglas has been appointed as first-team performance analyst. The trio will work alongside long-serving coach Kevin Nancekivell and goalkeeping coach Darryl Flahavan. Cleverley was unveiled as Miron Muslic's successor as head coach last Friday after the former Pilgrims boss left the club to join German side Schalke. Muslic's assistant Adin Osmanbasic and head of athletic performance Eddie Lattimore have both left the club. Advertisement "Damon, Matt and Chris are three people I know well and are all top class in their respective areas," Cleverley told the Plymouth Argyle website. "They know the way I work, I know the way they work, and I am thrilled they have decided to join the exciting project we have here at Argyle. "All three have bought into our plans and the plans of the club and are really excited to be here in the South West. "I am pleased to bring them with me so quickly and have them in place ahead of pre-season starting on Friday. The hard work starts now, and we are all looking forward to getting going."

Taxi firm director says Aberdeen has 'no unmet demand'

Three men arrested in connection with Southampton shooting
Three men have been arrested after a man was found with a gunshot wound to his arm, police have and Isle of Wight Constabulary said they were called at 22:08 GMT on Thursday to reports that a man had been "seriously assaulted" at the junction of St Mark's Road, Northbrook Road and Nichols Road in Friday, the force said officers arrested a 33-year-old man and 32-year-old man, both from Southampton, on suspicion of attempted murder, and a 25-year-old man from Portsmouth on suspicion of assisting an three remain in police custody. Southampton Ch Insp Chris Douglas said police did not believe there was a wider risk to the public."Based on the information known to us at this time we are not actively seeking anyone else in connection with this incident, and we do believe that all those involved are known to each other," he said."Police will remain in the area over the weekend, I urge you to approach them if you have any concerns, information or questions."The injured man, aged in his 30s, is in a stable condition in hospital, police and Isle of Wight Constabulary urged anyone with information to come forward. City given nighttime economy award for third year in a row
Southampton has been awarded Purple Flag status for the third year in a row. The city was recognised by the Association of Town and City Management (ATCM) for its commitment to night-time safety. The Purple Flag award is given to cities that create a "dynamic, secure, and vibrant" evening and night-time economy. The ATCM praised Southampton for its "fantastic" street pastors, strong engagement with the universities, and the "great awareness and strong partnership approach" demonstrated by the Op Defender briefings. Jade McCauley, operations manager at GO! Southampton, said: "Securing Purple Flag status for a third year in a row is a real honour for us and we are thrilled to be a part of this incredible achievement." Southampton Chief Inspector at Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary, Chris Douglas, said: "Myself and my officers are really proud that the city has been awarded Purple Flag status once again." The city first achieved Purple Flag status in 2023.
