How to watch Summer Game Fest's kickoff stream
It's almost that time of year again. Summer Game Fest starts on June 6. The annual kickoff stream begins at 5PM ET on that date. Yeah, we know. The time isn't ideal for folks with regular jobs, but we'll be in Los Angeles to cover the event in person, so you can just hit up the site for updates. The best way to watch this is likely via the YouTube stream. After all, the event is being hosted at the YouTube Theater. There will also be a Twitch stream for the YouTube-averse. The organizers, including host Geoff Keighley, are promising "spectacular new video game announcements, surprises and reveals." I like all three of those things. We don't know that much about what games will be discussed during the two-hour event, but we aren't going in totally blind. The stream will feature a new look at Wuchang: Fallen Feathers, which is a nifty-looking Soulslike action RPG. The open-world MMORPG Chrono Odyssey (no relation to ChronoTrigger) is also making an appearance. There's also the Kojima of it all. This event is taking place just a couple of weeks before we get our hands on the long-anticipated Death Stranding 2: On the Beach. The legendary game creator will be on-hand to discuss the title during a dedicated event on June 8, but maybe he'll pop up at the kickoff to give viewers a peek at whatever else he's been working on. However, the kickoff stream is just the beginning. The weekend is host to the Day of the Devs showcase, the Devolver Direct, Wholesome Direct and really so much more.

About the game Chrono Odyssey is set in Setera , a world where time doesn't behave normally. Think past, present, and even other dimensions colliding. Executive Producer Yoon Sangtae says the game draws inspiration from cosmic horror films like Prometheus, the alien swarm of StarCraft's Zerg, and even classic RPGs like Chrono Trigger. Live Events At the heart of the game is a powerful tool called the Chronotector, which lets players manipulate time itself. You can uncover hidden paths, unlock secrets from the past, and even get glimpses of the future. This isn't just another fetch-quest MMO. Instead of following a strict main storyline, players shape their own adventure. Here's what makes Chrono Odyssey different: No fixed roles: You're not stuck being just a tank, healer, or damage dealer. Play how you want. Active combat: Dodge, parry, and switch between two weapons in real-time. Explore and craft your way to max level—even without fighting. Time-travel puzzles and dungeons add variety beyond combat. In the beta, players will test solo challenges like Chrono Gates (intense one-on-one battles) and Trials (puzzle-filled time adventures), plus co-op missions like Expedition Dungeons (3-player challenges) and Region Bosses (big, multi-party fights). The world is powered by Unreal Engine 5 , bringing lifelike environments with surreal touches. From strange creatures to shifting timelines, the visual experience is just as ambitious as the gameplay. Chrono Odyssey also includes content that falls under the Exploration/Adventure category. Labyrinths are twisted rifts filled with puzzles, offering a break from combat, revealing secrets, and rewarding players at the end with a 'special treasure'. Time Portals, as you can guess from the name, are doors into the past where players gather materials and learn more about Setera's history. Lastly, Bounty Hunting brings back the focus on combat, as players are asked to track down and take down specific targets. Sangtae says this beta won't be the final version of the game, but rather, a chance to improve it with help from the community. 'This is just the beginning,' he says. More regions, classes, and time-based content are coming. This isn't just an MMORPG—it's a journey through time itself.

Chrono Odyssey Looks Very Promising In New Developer Interview Video
Chrono Odyssey Last week, closed beta signups went live for Chrono Odyssey and now the studio has published the first in a new series of Developer Interview videos. I've gotten excited and then let down by MMOs so many times over the years, it honestly feels like I'm an avid connoisseur of deflated hype and expectations. But who knows, maybe this time things will be different because everything I've seen and heard about Chrono Odyssey has me willing to believe it really could be the MMORPG I've been waiting for. Maybe. In the 20-minute developer interview video, we get to hear from a variety of folks on the development team including the executive producer named Sangtae and a product manager named Don. Something that really stood out to me in this interview is at the very beginning when Sangtae explains that they wanted to make overall progression just as fun as end-game content. That's a big goal to try and fulfill, because MMORPGs are perhaps the most infamous examples of players feeling like the 'real game' doesn't start until you reach the end. The need to invest dozens or hundreds of hours before you start to actually have fun is a tall ask when it comes to generating new players. FEATURED | Frase ByForbes™ Unscramble The Anagram To Reveal The Phrase Pinpoint By Linkedin Guess The Category Queens By Linkedin Crown Each Region Crossclimb By Linkedin Unlock A Trivia Ladder Sangtae also promises a lack of loading screens in the game in favor of a more seamless open world design. For a large-scale MMO game like this, that's a pretty exciting proposition. The team cites the cosmic horror vibes of movies like Prometheus and the encroaching threat of intimidating enemies such as the Zerg from StarCraft as key inspirations for the game world. Chrono Odyssey When it comes to what I want out of an MMO, I might be in a unique, personally. I'm the kind of gamer that does not and cannot play a single game for weeks, months, or years on end. I just can't do it. I like too many different genres and love chasing that new game feeling way too much to lock myself down. Call it professional curiosity, I guess. But at the same time, I absolutely love getting immersed in a big, bold MMO world. I like that communal feeling of discovering and exploring something with others collectively and I enjoy PvE content like dungeons, open world boss battles, and raids a lot. I just don't have the bandwidth to get deep into the end game these days as a parent. What I want out of my MMOs is the depth and complexity to feel engaged and challenged, with the approachability and fun factor to not feel overwhelmed when I come back from a multi-week break. Not many games have ever managed to strike that balance as well as prime Guild Wars 2, Elder Scrolls Online, or the first few months of Throne and Liberty last year. I haven't had a chance to play Chrono Odyssey for myself yet, but the fact that it's also coming to consoles has me very cautiously optimistic it could scratch that itch for me once again. Visually it's gorgeous, combat looks stellar, and the developers really seem to be passionate about the world they've built. Let's see if it can stick the landing. If you want to take part in the closed beta test next month, you can sign up over on the Chrono Odyssey Steam page, or check out the official game website for more details.

How to join Chrono Odyssey's June 2025 Closed Beta
(Image via Kakao Games) The wait is finally over for the Chrono Odyssey fans. One of the highly anticipated MMOs is finally opening up the doors for the PC-exclusive closed Beta in June 2025. With Kakao Games and Chrono Studio opening the sign-ups, over 400K players signed up already, here is how you can secure the spot and what you can expect from the adventure. How to sign up for Chrono Odyssey closed Beta — SpawnYaardReply (@SpawnYaardReply) To get into the closed Beta is quite simple. For it, head to the Chrono Odyssey Steam page, select Chrono Odyssey Playtest, and click on the button- Request Access. It is available under the Playtest section. You do not need any codes or surveys. Just with one click, you can enter the pool. While the sign-ups will not guarantee entry, your chances can be improved by registering sooner. The exact selection criteria have not yet been revealed by the developers, but the previous tests by Kakao Games gave priority to the hardware ( Unreal Engine 5 ) diversity and the survey responses. So, make sure your PC meets the unofficial requirement for better odds. The Beta will be running for a very limited time in June. It includes the early-story quests along with 1 explorable region and 3 planned classes— Berserker, Swordsman, and Ranger. The curated slice aims to test the stability of the server while teasing the players about the complete experience. What makes Chrono Odyssey special? The MMO stands out with its revolutionary time manipulation mechanics. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Want Lower Bills Without Changing a Thing? elecTrick - Save upto 80% on Power Bill Learn More Undo The players here can rewind the combat mistakes, explore the world where varied eras collide, and even freeze the enemies in the middle of the attack. Setera's Unreal Engine 5-powered world features a seamless transition between the post-apocalyptic ruins and the medieval castles— all with the dynamic weather and the day/night cycles. The combat perfectly blends the Online fluidity of the Black Desert with the unique temporal powers. Berserker class, for example, can bank on successful attacks and then replay them later, while the Rangers might be able to reverse the time for retrieving the spent arrows. The system promises to redefine MMO combat when the game launches on the PC and the consoles later in 2025. What should the Beta testers prepare for? While the beta test will offer very limited content, it is an important chance to influence the development. The Testers must, therefore, focus on, Performance- pushing graphics settings to help optimize the demanding tech of UE5. Class balance- as the 3 need some thorough stress-testing. Time mechanics- report the bugs with the freeze/rewind systems. Kakao Games has confirmed that all the progress will be wiped after the June Beta test. However, the dedicated testers might earn some exclusive cosmetics for a full launch. With the servers now expected to be quite crowded, make sure to prepare for the queues, but remember, the chance to shape the ambitious MMO will make it worthwhile. Chrono Odyssey MMORPG Closed Beta PC Signups Now Live, Releasing 2025
Chrono Odyssey You can now signup on the Chrono Odyssey Steam Page to be included in the MMORPG's upcoming closed beta test (CBT) or playtest. Chrono Odyssey has been in development for several years by developer Chrono Games and is gearing up for a global launch from publisher Kakao Games in Q4 of 2025 for both PC and consoles. There's no known date for the CBT or its actual launch just yet, but we should know more very soon. In an investor call last year, the South Korea-based publisher stated Chrono Odyssey is slated for that Q4 2025 release window and re-confirmed the timeframe earlier this week, continuing to indicate a global launch on consoles and PC. Details are still a bit scarce on Chrono Odyssey, but everything we've seen and heard so far seem to point towards this being a very graphically demanding 'next-generation' MMORPG built in Unreal Engine 5, perhaps similar to the likes of other upcoming MMOs like Aion 2. FEATURED | Frase ByForbes™ Unscramble The Anagram To Reveal The Phrase Pinpoint By Linkedin Guess The Category Queens By Linkedin Crown Each Region Crossclimb By Linkedin Unlock A Trivia Ladder Chrono Odyssey is expected to feature fast-paced action combat, similar in concept to the likes of Black Desert Online from what we've seen, which was originally published by Kakao Games before they handed over rights to the game's developer, Pearl Abyss. Kakao has also been involved with games like ArcheAge and Path of Exile. Conceptually, Chrono Odyssey will deal heavily with themes of time manipulation, as the name implies. Players will be able to stop and rewind time around themselves and around monsters during combat and even to explore past generations of the world around you. Structurally, the game's expected to have a large and 'seamless' open world concept according to the developers. Everything else we've heard about Chrono Odyssey seems to mostly be what you'd expect for a new MMORPG in 2025. There will be harvesting and crafting, there will be detailed character customization options, there will be group-based PvE content such as dungeons and raiding as well as PvP areas, and so on. Considering signing up for the Chrono Odyssey CBT over on the game's Steam page if you want to have a chance to check it out for yourself.
