Fifty and fabulous: Rami Chuene celebrates life with joy and gratitude
Reflecting on her journey, the "Isono" actress, Chuene took to Instagram to share her thoughts on this significant birthday, celebrated on July 3, dubbing it "The Year of Jubilee", which is known as a symbol of liberation, restoration, and fresh beginnings. South African actress and cultural icon Rami Chuene has stepped into her milestone 50th year with a radiant spirit and a heartfelt message to her fans. In the post, she expressed profound gratitude for the grace and mercy she feels for her life, even amidst the trials she has faced. "The Year of Jubilee - the year of liberation, restoration, rejoicing and a fresh start. It also represents a time of experiencing God's grace and mercy." she wrote. She added: "We are reminded that, despite trials, God's love and mercy remain ever at work, guiding humanity towards a future of light and reconciliation. With a mix of humour and openness, Chuene joked about the physical changes that come with age. "Thirty years ago, fifty was so far, so old, so elderly and today here we are ... Don't get me started on those thin but visible lines (wrinkles). What about the nipples being in line with the belly button? "Back then, motho had a figure, now we're just figuring it out. And what about the knees? Now I finally get what that song, hlogo, magetla, sefuba le letheka, mangwele le menwana meant!" "My heart is full, my spirit is at ease and my soul is content. For this 50th birthday, all the ones before and the ones still come by God's grace, I am truly grateful. What a ride, what a life! Hello Fifty❤️," she wrote, showing appreciation for all the experiences that have shaped her thus far. Earlier this year, Chuene invited women who are turning 50 to share their forgotten dreams. She said that she has "angels" who are ready to help those women make their dreams come true. This will be done through her foundation. "If you have a wish, drop us a mail ... Let's come together. Let's celebrate."

Read full story below Full story POLOKWANE – Chuene Henry Phaleng is a Gr 11 learner at Noorderland High School who was selected to be part of the Asia Pacific Youth Summit, which he was supposed to attend in Indonesia at the beginning of May. He was the only one selected from the country to attend; however, he was unable to go due to passport issues. 'I joined virtually, and it was a three-day summit. I gave a speech about the summit, and I obtained second position for best speaker,' he told Review. He is passionate about children's rights and an activist in his own right. He found out about the summit through research. He regularly does research and looks for competitions he can take part in. He applied to be part of the summit, was shortlisted, and went through interviews. He was one of 50 learners from around the world to be selected for the summit. He said the interview process was difficult and focused on the impact he made in his own community, 'and they wanted to know what plans I had to fight climate change'. Phaleng added that although he was heartbroken about not being able to physically attend, he had to look beyond the disappointment and focus on his participation in the summit, especially since he was the only one in the country to take part. 'It still had the same impact, and our team won the Best Asia Youth Summit Idea, which is being evaluated and taken to policymakers to turn into a policy,' he added. He is now a UN-accredited climate change ambassador and goes to schools around his community to teach learners about climate change, how to come up with solutions, and to plant trees. Female school leaders in eMalahleni unite in launch of FILM programme
It was all fun and empowerment as school leaders in eMalahleni came together for a power packed woman to woman session in launch of the Female in Leadership and Management (FILM) programme. All about unleashing 'the girl within you,' female principals and deputies in eMalahleni Circuits one, two and three hosted the launch of their FILM programme at Laerskool Duvhapark where they uplifted each other and encouraged unity among women. The launch of the programme which is aimed at empowering women with the skills, knowledge, and networks needed to excel in leadership roles, featured a range of speakers who shared knowledge on different aspects of life, especially in leadership. Mahlodi Chuene who is the chairperson of the programme, spoke on the pull down syndrome among women which she defined as a situation in which women portray spiteful jealousy, or an attempt to undermine or diminish others, especially those perceived as successful or in higher positions. 'Can we not pull down one another as women,' she said, encouraging the women in the room to always fix each other's crowns instead of showing behaviours of malicious envy. Instead of being vocal only when it is time to criticize and condemn the mistakes of others, Chuene emphasised that women need to be loud in applauding and appreciating the good in others. Department of Basic Education (DBE) FILM coordinator and keynote speaker of the day, Zanele Mlambo, enlightened the leaders on the imbalance in the ratio between men and women in school management positions in South Africa, encouraging them to quit limiting themselves and fearlessly go for those managerial positions whenever they feel ready. 'I am moving across all South African provinces to ensure that positions of management and leadership are occupied by females more than males because as it stands, the ratio is not balanced,' she said. Mlambo added that though the action seems slow, she will continue to push all the stakeholders in authority to speed up the process. 'All nine HODs know that as of now, when they sign appointment letters, the first thing they need to check is the equity grid,' she said. The ladies agreed that the launch exceeded their expectations and they all look forward to their next celebration in August. 'The launch was a huge success, even the attendance of the ladies was excellent,' Maria Ngwanamello Nekhudzhiga said.
