Other couples to attend the ceremony celebrating athletes and sports highlights included Los Angeles Dodgers first baseman Freddie Freeman and his wife, Chelsea, and gymnast Simone Biles and her husband, Chicago Bears safety Jonathan Owens. The event took place at Hollywood's Dolby Theater. Ciara, 39, wore an off-the-shoulder cream gown, while Wilson, 36, wore a deep blue velvet blazer over a black dress shirt and slacks. Wilson showed his support for Ciara last week during her performance on Today. Biles, 28, wore a sparkling blue gown, while Owens wore a white blazer over a black top with a plunging neckline. Biles was honored as the Best Athlete in Women's Sports, and given the award for Best Championship performance. Chelsea Freeman, 34, wore a corseted green gown, while Freddie Freeman wore an olive-hued suit. 'That definitely is a part of life. I don't think we can live life that way—thinking or worrying about [the public],' Ciara said. 'We just have to live life as us.' Although she had expected to be alone for four years initially, Ciara said that meeting Russell Wilson was an afterthought. 'I thought I was going to be single for, like, four years before he came into my life,' she said. 'He said, like, 10, I think it was for him. Obviously, we plan, and God laughs. I think there's something beautiful and powerful to how God can work things out in your life and the way that he has for us. We love giving love. I always love Russ' philosophy. He talks about the attitude of servitude and loving big. It's kind of the only way for us.' The couple frequently talks publicly of their love philosophy, purpose, and service.
