Cat seen clinging to Brooklyn expressway saved by good Samaritans
SUNSET PARK, Brooklyn (PIX11) — A cat seen clinging to the edge of an overpass of a major expressway in Brooklyn was rescued by a group of good Samaritans on Monday night. A sequence of videos uploaded on CitizenApp showed the small gray cat, wearing a colorful collar, perched on the edge of an overpass on the Gowanus Expressway near Exit 23 at 38th Street around 8p.m. 'If there's anybody out there that's animal rescue, please come, somebody come and rescue this cat. He's going to get killed,' a person behind the camera could be heard saying. In another clip, two people were seen standing on the shoulder of the overpass, trying to coax the little cat towards them. In its likely confusion, the lost animal jumped from the overpass to the ground below but was found by a resident shortly after. The person recorded themselves as they cautiously approached the cat hiding in a corner near 39th Street in Bay Ridge. The last CitizenApp clip in the saga shows the cat safely wrapped in a shirt, in the arms of one of the people who helped save it. The woman holding the grey kitty could be heard telling a firefighter she plans to take the cat to an animal rescue for help. Social media video from the nonprofit Sunset Park Cats shows that the cat is reportedly a 3-year-old girl named Juno who was taken to the emergency veterinary center, VERG Brooklyn. Animal volunteers say Juno has since been reunited with her owner. Dominique Jack is a digital content producer from Brooklyn with more than five years of experience covering news. Woman gets stuck inside Chuck E. Cheese game after sticking arm in hole 'not intended for hands'
A woman found herself trapped inside a Money Making Machine at Chuck E. Cheese when she stuck her arm in a hole 'not intended for hands.' The embarrassing video was first shared by Citizen, a personal safety network app that alerts users to events around them. The woman knelt inside the game with her arm trapped in a hole as firefighters worked to set her free. Concerned and confused onlookers crowded around the curious sight as the unidentified woman waited inside. A spokesperson for the restaurant franchise said in a statement to People that the young adult was playing a game intended for children 'and decided to stick their arm in a hole not intended for hands or arms.' 'We prioritize children's safety above all and have verified that the game poses no risk to our young guests,' the statement continued. 'The design prevents children's arms from reaching the area in question. There was no injury to the young adult, or any children and the family continued to enjoy an evening of fun with the family.' Crew members from the Burbank Fire Department in Los Angeles responded to Chuck E. Cheese to assist the woman. Daily Mail reached out to the department for comment. Social media users were quick to troll the woman for getting stuck, with many flooding the comment section on Citizen's post. 'Does she win all the money then technically??' one questioned. 'What in the world is she doing and how did she get in there? Was she trying to steal the toys?' a second commented. 'It's completely empty!! Omg [laughing emojis] she better stay facing that wall, how embarrassing!!' Others replied to the comment, sounding off on what kind of game they speculated she was trapped in. 'It's a money game. It opens to let you in and out. Well, it's supposed to. Poor lady,' one said. 'It's not a money game, balls drop from the top, and kids have to put them in the hole where that lady's arm is Lol,' another disagreed. 'So thaaaats what I should be doing at Chuck E Cheese to meet a firefighter. Noted,' one user joked. 'About to sue for embarrassment,' another comment teased.

Brooklyn manhole blows up in fiery blast, nearly hits passing car: ‘How can NY get any worse'
A massive fireball erupted from a Brooklyn manhole, sending flames skyward and bystanders running for cover. The dramatic moment was caught on video. The explosion took place on Central Avenue in Bushwick, where surveillance-style footage captured flames shooting out from beneath the street in a sudden blast. The video, originally uploaded to the Citizen App, quickly went viral across social media platforms. Cars can be seen driving by just seconds before the explosion, including one vehicle that narrowly avoids the fireball. Moments later, the street erupts in flames, prompting nearby pedestrians to scream and scatter. According to the New York Post, the New York City Fire Department (FDNY) confirmed that Con Edison crews were dispatched to the scene. Miraculously, no one was injured. 🇺🇸FROM TRAFFIC TO FIREBALL: BROOKLYN MANHOLE GOES FULL MICHAEL BAY One second it's traffic, the next – a fireball erupts from a manhole on Central Ave in Bushwick, launching metal into the air and setting a car ablaze. Locals screamed, alarms wailed, and the deli nearly went up… — Mario Nawfal (@MarioNawfal) August 1, 2025 But the chaos didn't end there. Roughly two hours later, another manhole fire broke out less than a mile away at Lewis Avenue and Pulaski Street, sending emergency services racing to the scene. That second fire came dangerously close to nearby businesses and parked vehicles, heightening concerns in the neighbourhood. Social media was quick to react. One user said, 'Only in New York do you go out for a sandwich and dodge a manhole fireball like it's an action movie side quest.' Another commented, 'Sounds like a scene straight out of an action movie! Wild things happening in Bushwick!' A third user wrote, 'How can NY get any worse.' This isn't the first time manholes have gone rogue. Earlier this year, a college campus in Texas witnessed a similarly eerie event when 'green flames' were seen spewing from a manhole, prompting widespread panic.

'All the active fire that we know of that we have been able to identify, it is gone, it is out. We can't rule out there may be some small areas with still some smoldering fire underground, but there is no evidence at all that there is any active fire,' Deputy Chief Wilson said at a press conference at the time. An X user posted the video with the caption, 'Green/yellow flames are blowing out of the manhole covers from the sewers.'
