However, the teen, from Billingham, County Durham, later emerged 4,000 miles away in Georgia where she had allegedly being caught carrying 30 pounds (of cannabis into the former Soviet nation. Meanwhile, Charlotte May Lee (21) from Coulsdon, south London, is facing 25 years locked in a hellhole Sri Lankan jail after police allegedly discovered 46kg of 'Kush' - a synthetic strain of cannabis - in her suitcase Michaela McCollum, of the infamous Peru Two, has spoken about what she sees as similarities in both cases to her own particularly that of Culley, who has told the court in the Georgian capital of Tbilisi that she is pregnant. McCollum at the time of her arrest Ms McCollum, from Dungannon in Co Tyrone, and Scotswoman Melissa Reid, both served just over two years in prison after they were caught with 12kg of cocaine in Lima airport in August 2013. Reid was released from prison in June 2016 and immediately returned to Britain, while McCollum arrive back to Dublin airport in August of that year. 'As a mum, I can't even begin to imagine what it would be like to give birth in that sort of place, and to potentially have the child taken from you and put into care,' she added about the case of Ms Culley. "That adds a whole new, terrifying, dimension. It's just incredibly sad. 'I don't know the circumstances in detail here,' she added, 'but I do know that of all the women I came across who had been involved in drug smuggling, only about 10% were doing it as a business, who knew the risks and accepted them,' she said. 'The vast majority were the victims of some sort of coercion, usually by men. Prisons all over the world are full of women who have been caught up in something like this. And the men at the top rarely get caught. 'The men who pulled all the strings in my case were never held to account.'

Brit model in hellhole jail after 'being caught smuggling £200,000 of drugs'

An Onlyfans model from Nottinghamshire is now stuck in a Spanish jail. Clara Wilson was charged with a drug running offence after she arrived in Barcelona in January An Onlyfans model is stuck in a hellish jail after she was caught allegedly smuggling drugs worth up to £200,000 into Spain. Clara Wilson, 36, was charged with a drug running offence after more than 34 kilos of cannabis were found in her suitcase at Barcelona's El Prat airport. From Huthwaite, Notts, Clara was held as she departed a Qatar Airways flight from Doha on January 20. She is believed to have travelled from Barcelona from Bangkok with stopovers in India and Qatar. ‌ ‌ Clara is now remanded to a prison close to Barcelona after her arrest. No trial date has been set yet. An indictment shows public prosecutors have already demanded a four-year prison sentence and huge fine payment totalling £758,000 if she is convicted. The three-page indictment states: 'The accused woman was intercepted by the Civil Guard around 9pm on January 20 at Barcelona's El Prat airport after getting off a Qatar Airways flight. 'In two suitcases she had previously checked in, police found 60 vacuum-packed packages containing a green-coloured substance that tested positive for marihuana. The substance weighed 34,074 grams. A subsequent analysis by the National Toxicology Institute of a 55 gram sample of the substance confirmed it as cannabis.' Public prosecutors added in the document: 'The drugs were transported by the accused with the intention of selling it to third parties on the black market where its value would have been [£180,000].' Clara, one of the latest in a string of young women to end up in prisons around the world after being accused of drug trafficking, has also been warned an extra six months would be slapped on top of the four years in jail she could get if she fails to pay her fines. The time Wilson has already spent in custody would be taken off the prison sentence she receives if convicted. ‌ It is not yet clear how she intends pleading and whether she will try to strike a pre-trial plea bargain deal in the hope of getting more lenient treatment. Under Spanish law the British model can be held for up to two years in prison before she has to be bailed, but well-placed sources said they expected her to be tried later this year. It comes as Brits Bella May Culley, 18, Charlotte May Lee, 21, and Isabella Daggett, 21, are all facing lengthy prison sentences in harsh overseas prisons if they are convicted of drug smuggling. Bella, 18, was the first hit the headlines following her arrest in Georgia. She flew into the former Soviet state from Thailand on May 11. ‌ She faces a lengthy spell behind bars if found guilty — which could be life if she receives a severe sentence. Little is still known about how she came to be caught at Tblisi Airport after her family reported her missing in Thailand. Charlotte arrived in Sri Lanka again from Thailand on may 12, allegedly with a stash of cannabis in her luggage valued at £1.2million which she denied knowing anything about. She has been in custody since she was arrested at Bandaranaike Airport. ‌ Isabella Daggett, 21, is another alleged drug mule who is being held in a hellhole Dubai prison where she has not been able to shower or change clothes. Her case has been highlighted by her family after she was arrested in March, just five weeks after moving to the United Arab Emirates for work. She was working for a businessman doing internet recruiting for construction sites in the UK and he offered to send her to the Middle East for a similar role. But police in Dubai allegedly arrested her along with another man not long after she arrived in Dubai. Her family insist she was taken by police simply for being 'in the wrong place at the wrong time' and has never used drugs. And she has not taken a shower or even changed her clothes in months after being banged up in a prison in March, her family claims. Her grandmother Heather Smith told the DailyMail:"She was arrested with a lad, who was not her boyfriend, with whom she was staying because things had fallen through with another house. She didn't really like him that much. He may be guilty of something, but she isn't. We told Bella before she went to Dubai, 'you know the rules in Dubai, play by the rules, don't flaunt this, don't do that' All three women deny the charges against them.

Glamorous Clara Wilson, from Huthwaite, Notts, has been charged with a drug running offence after more than 34 kilos of cannabis was found stuffed in her two suitcases at Barcelona's El Prat airport. 4 4 Her arrest comes amid a huge influx of marijuana flooding into Britain from Thailand, where the drug is legal. Gangs are recruiting travellers to smuggle the drug into the UK, often via other countries in a bid to avoid detection. Clara, 36, was held as she got off a Qatar Airways flight from Doha on January 20, although it's thought she travelled to Barcelona from Bangkok with stopovers in India and Qatar. The unemployed mum-of-four has been warned she faces being caged for up to four years and ordered to pay more than £750,000 in fines if convicted. Clara was remanded to a prison near the Catalan capital two days after her arrest and has been held there ever since as part of her pre-trial detention. A three-page indictment seen by The Sun states: 'The accused woman was intercepted by the Civil Guard around 9pm on January 20 at Barcelona's El Prat airport after getting off a Qatar Airways flight. 'In two suitcases she had previously checked in, police found 60 vacuum-packed packages containing a green-coloured substance that tested positive for marijuana. The substance weighed 34,074 grams. Public prosecutors added in the document: 'The drugs were transported by the accused with the intention of selling it to third parties on the black market where its value would have been EUROS 213,991.' No trial date has been set, but the indictment shows public prosecutors are pushing for a four-year prison sentence and huge £750,000 fine on conviction. Brit woman, 21, rotting in Dubai hellhole jail without a shower for a month after being arrested on drugs charges Clara, one of the latest in a string of young women to end up in prisons around the world after being accused of drug trafficking, has also been warned that an extra six months would be slapped on top of the potential four years in jail if she fails to pay her fines. It is not yet clear how she intends to plead and whether she will try to strike a pre-trial plea bargain deal in the hope of getting more lenient treatment. Under Spanish law, the British model can be held for up to two years in prison before she has to be bailed, but well-placed sources said they expect her to be tried later this year. A Foreign Office spokesperson said: 'We are supporting a British woman detained in Spain and are in contact with the local authorities'. Last week, Spanish police went public with the arrests of a British couple aged 33 and 34 held at Valencia airport after 33 kilos of marijuana was found in their luggage. They claimed they were tourists coming from Thailand. Bella May Culley, 18, sparked a massive international search operation in early May after she was reported missing while she was believed to be holidaying in Thailand. However, it was later revealed that the teen, from Billingham, County Durham, had been arrested 4,000 miles away on drug offences in Georgia, allegedly carrying 30 pounds (14kg) of cannabis into the ex-Soviet nation. And recently, 21-year-old Charlotte Lee May, from Coulsdon, south London, was arrested in the Sri Lankan capital Colombo after police discovered 46 kg of 'Kush' - a synthetic strain of cannabis - in her suitcase. The former flight attendant, facing up to 25 years in prison if convicted, is claiming she had 'no idea' about the drugs worth up to £1.2 million and insisted they must have been planted in her luggage without her knowledge. Yesterday, The Sun revealed how cannabis seizures have soared to record highs at UK airports — as Thai smuggling gangs attempt to dominate the British market in the illegal drug. The amount caught at Heathrow alone last year - 14.7 tons - was almost triple the 5.6 tons snared at all airports during 2023. Nearly 27 tons of cannabis were seized at British airports last year, 400 per cent up on the previous 12 months. Some 750 people were caught by specialist cops, way up on the 134 nicked the year before. Nearly two thirds were flying in from Thailand. A record 430 suspects were arrested at Heathrow, the National Crime Agency said. 4

Spanish cops have urged Brit holidaymakers to be on their guard TOURISTS WARNED Majorca police arrest nearly 50 pickpockets in one month and draft in reinforcements ahead of summer crime wave NEARLY 50 pickpockets and petty thieves targeting tourist victims have been arrested in the past month by police in Majorca. The pickpocketing spree has prompted cops to draft in early reinforcements to tackle an expected summer crime wave. These officers specialise in 'prevent and rapid response' crimefighting to work along town hall-employed local police. A spokesman for the force in Majorca said: 'They will serve on the island for a month as a prelude to the incorporation of other units who will work in the municipality of Palma ahead of the arrival of reinforcements in Manacor in Majorca, Ibiza and Menorca.' Overnight detectives in Majorca revealed the first arrest figures linked to the 'Operation Summer' advance. A National Police spokesman said: 'So far 19 people have been arrested in Palma's Playa de Palma coastal area, most pickpockets and petty thieves acting at night-time. 'And in Palma's urban area itself 30 people have been arrested who are also mostly pickpockets.' Detailing the latest arrests this week, the spokesman added: 'On Tuesday police in Playa de Palma arrested three men, two Romanians and a Moroccan, on suspicion of theft, fraud and misappropriation.. 'One of them turned out to be wanted for drug trafficking. Advertisement 'They are members of a criminal gang specialising in targeting tourists holidaying on the Majorcan coast. 'They acted on a task-sharing basis, taking belongings from holidaymakers including wallets and purses with ID documents and bank cards they then used for purchases in different shops or to take out money from cash machines. '€1,200 in cash was also confiscated from them along with two mobiles phones worth more than £850 each, documents and other high-end stolen items like designer sunglasses. Advertisement 'All the items recovered had been reported stolen and have been returned to their rightful owners. 'In the early hours of Tuesday morning police arrested two minors in Playa de Palma they had spotted crawling across the sand to to take the belongings of some tourists who were in the sea. 'They were intercepted and the stolen items recovered. 'The detainees reacted aggressively when they were being arrested by kicking and punching the officers. 'The officers were able to return the stolen purse, which had 1,500 US dollars and other valuables inside, to the victim on the spot.' One police insider said today after the figures were released: 'The criminals we are tackling with Operation Summer have their sights set on tourists who tend to be more distracted and carry large amounts of cash with them. 'Many of the offenders are being caught red-handed by undercover cops disguised as holidaymakers themselves so they can blend in better.' Advertisement Although Playa de Palma east of the Majorcan capital is more popular with German and Dutch tourists than British visitors to the island, Brits are among the top victims in Palma centre. The pickpocket and petty theft figures released by National Police earlier this week are separate to those of another national Spanish police force, the Civil Guard, who are responsible for areas like Magaluf. The Civil Guard also brings in reinforcements every summer in Majorca to cope with the influx of criminals who base themselves on the island during peak season to take advantage of the fact there are more people to target than in winter. It comes following a similar warning to tourists visiting the popular spot Benidorm over the summer. Advertisement Spanish cops have urged Brit holidaymakers to take care after footage surfaced showing tourists being targeted on "muggers alley". The Policia Nacional told The Spanish Eye it has had multiple reports from victims and has "intervened and arrested the perpetrators several times." It added: "As a preventative measure, continuous patrols are carried out in this area, as well as throughout the rest of the town, to prevent the commission of this crime."
