A former reality television star has responded to backlash after she turned her pregnancy announcement into a sponsored post. Ella May Ding, who appeared on season 9 of the hit dating show 'Married At First Sight' in 2022, took to Instagram last week to reveal she was expecting her first child with husband Guy Palermo. The images featured the couple wearing all white, and cradling the 30-year-old's tummy with a Clearblue pregnancy test on display — and a note confirming it was an ad. But what should have been a heartfelt moment between the reality star and her fans turned into a debate as some argued it felt 'off' to cash in on a pregnancy announcement. But, more than a week after the announcement, Ms Ding has responded to the backlash. 'It was a no-brainer. When the opportunity came to me, I was like, 'Well, Clearblue literally told me I'm pregnant'. Like, I don't really know how much more you can align with a brand,' she told Yahoo Lifestyle. 'The response I was like, 'That's a bit weird', but at the same time, it made sense to me, and that's like anything that I do, promote or talk about. If it makes sense to me and my people understand, that's all that matters. And if you got offered, you would take it!' She added that having a baby was an expensive feat, particularly with the cost-of-living crisis. Ms Ding posted the announcement last week, with the caption: 'Somewhere between healing and hustling, the next chapter quietly chose us. Baby Palermo you've already made our story sweeter & given us the best news of 2025 yet.' It was signed off with: '#ad #ClearblueConfirmed. Always read the label and follow the directions for use.' One social media user said: 'Nooo this feels off being an ad. Is this the official announcement? Congratulations either way.' And another criticised: 'Wow making money of (sic) the baby already? How desperate are you for cash? I hope you wont be exploiting this baby for content when its born. It's a child not content.' 'I thought this was so odd,' another said. One commented: 'Beautiful news. Just weird how it's a clearblue ad lol.' 'Making money off an unborn baby feels weird to me idk,' one social media user commented. Another said: 'This chick will do anything for money lol.' Ms Ding is certainly not the first influencer or celebrity to do this. Summer House star Lindsay Hubbard announced her pregnancy in a very similar way with the same brand. Fellow US stars such as Daniella Monet and Tamera Mowry have done the same.

However, their relationship has seen its fair share of hardships, they revealed in a new interview with People, in which they spoke out about the fertility struggles they've grappled with over the last four years. Cameron, 34, and Lauren, 37, admitted they 'fell to their knees' when they discovered that they were expecting after Lauren underwent in vitro fertilization, or IVF. Cameron gushed, 'We were counting down the day till we could test because we did IVF. We knew, okay, this is the day that we're going to do the test. Of course, we're going in for a blood test later that day, but we couldn't wait any longer. 'We did the classic test and we both went into the bathroom to look at the Clearblue test and it was face down. We flipped it over. We saw the word pregnant, and that was just a huge moment to actually see the word pregnant on the test. It was a—' His wife, who is in her second trimester, finished his sentence, revealing that seeing the word 'pregnant' was a huge 'relief' after the many ups and downs of the past four years. 'Because, well, we've taken a few pregnancy tests and when you use the ones with the lines, it could be anxiety driven because it's like, 'Is that what I think?' So seeing the word 'pregnant,' it was amazing. We just looked at each other. I fell to my knees and cried,' she revealed. 'It's been a long time coming. We've literally been trying to get pregnant for four years.' Lauren candidly opened up about the 'indescribable' feeling, noting that the positive test was a 'light' at the end of the tunnel after her father passed away. She explained, 'I lost my father [at] Christmas of last year, and so we took this test the end of January, beginning of February, so this was literally light in the darkness. This was like, wow. The spark that my whole family needed. We've been trying for a long time.' 'It was a little bittersweet because my dad's not here physically to be with us, but we know that he's watching over us. So it was just like, 'Wow, I can't believe this.' We just felt so blessed, so grateful and happy, excited. Then it hit like, 'We're going to be parents. Oh my God.'' Lauren gushed about her husband's character and revealed that he has been extremely supportive through their IVF journey, adding that he has been 'patient' and 'awesome.' The mom-to-be admitted that her first trimester was 'rough;' however, she is now adapting to her second trimester, which sees her constantly craving 'cheese.' 'One thing I that I do crave is cheese. I want cheese puffs, I want macaroni and cheese. I want just regular shredded cheese in my mouth. Cheese and fruit have been my thing,' she revealed. The couple also confessed that they have turned to some of their 'Love Is Blind' castmates for advice, specifically Amber and Matt Barnett, who recently welcomed their first baby. 'Amber is full of advice. She's giving me the real, real lowdown advice,' Lauren revealed. Cameron and Lauren will be raising their child in their Atlanta home, which they purchased in 2021 for $780,000. The two-story property is perfect for a growing family as it comes complete with five bedrooms and 4.5 bathrooms, all situated on a 1.09-acre lot. The home's facade is adorned in sage green paneling and brick, while the structure is surrounded in lush greenery. The 5,400-square-foot abode boasts an expansive interior, two cozy fireplaces, 9-foot-high ceilings, a walk-in closet, and a three-car garage. Lauren and Cameron also hold the keys to a one-bedroom, one-bath condo in Georgia. Love Is Blind's golden couple, Lauren Speed-Hamilton and Cameron Hamilton, have announced that they're expecting their first child - five years after falling in love and tying the knot on Netflix 's hit reality dating show. Lauren posted about the joyful moment she discovered she was pregnant on Instagram, sharing a photo of her holding a positive Clearblue pregnancy test with Cameron's arms wrapped around her. She added to that with a series of other tender snapshots where the couple could be seen holding up ultrasound images, kissing, and holding hands.
