Chrono Odyssey Getting Major Changes Following Closed Beta Feedback

Chrono Odyssey Kakao Games Chrono Odyssey , the highly anticipated MMORPG from South Korean Chrono Studio and Kakao Games, recently wrapped its first global Closed Beta Test a few weeks ago and, as expected, there was a ton of feedback from players online. What's nice to see, though, is that the developers seem to be listening and are taking the response to heart. In a two-part Developer Note over on the Chrono Odyssey Steam page (Part 1, Part 2) they've outlined their plans to incorporate feedback. Admittedly, I did attempt to try out the Closed Beta for myself when it was active, but ran into lots of performance issues. I chalked it up to my PC no longer being top-of-the-line with its aging RTX 2060 Super and Intel i5-9600K CPU, but it seems like a lot of optimizations are underway in any case. Maybe it will fair better for me during the next round. 'Player feedback during the Closed Beta has been invaluable,' said , Chrono Odyssey executive producer Sangtae Yoon said in an emailed press release. 'Our goal is to deliver an MMORPG experience that feels deeply polished, responsive, and worth exploring for years to come. These updates are only the beginning.' You can skim over the two lengthy Developer Notes up above for the full breakdown (the second one in particular is thousands of words long) but it honestly looks like they're aiming to make some significant changes. These aren't your typical change logs and bug fixes, these are quite literally top-to-bottom sweeping updates including combat, world design, content variety, performance and stability, as well as a 'full narrative overhaul' of the game's actual story content. 'We are incredibly passionate about Chrono Odyssey and the potential it holds,' he added. 'MMORPG players have been waiting a long time for a world they can truly call home. We're committed to building that experience the right way — with care, with purpose, and hand in hand with our community.' Chrono Odyssey Kakao Games Here is a list of highlighted changes compiled from the press release: Chrono Odyssey Combat System Overhaul Combat will be rebuilt for sharper responsiveness and more impactful gameplay. Improvements will include: Reduced animation delay and input lag for tighter controls Enhanced hit feedback with improved visuals, synced hitboxes, and clearer reactions A new 'Matrix' system that allows each weapon to evolve into four distinct playstyles that allows each weapon to evolve into four distinct playstyles Smarter AI and dynamic enemy behavior that will enhance challenge and replayability Better weapon switching, lock-on mechanics, camera behavior, and controller support Chrono Odyssey Expansive World and Dungeon Upgrades The world of Setera will become denser and more rewarding: Enhancing region-specific features to strengthen visual identity and introducing new exploration elements such as themed caves and diverse routes Dynamic grass and wind systems that will respond to player movement Improved dungeon replayability with randomized gimmicks, branching paths, and challenge-reward systems Additional hidden quests and branching local storylines, featuring unique gear and collectibles Refined PvE Progression and Balancing in Chrono Odyssey PvE progression is being rebalanced to provide a smoother experience. Updates include: Early-game pacing and tutorial content will be fine-tuned to better prepare players for their first Chrono Gate Optional NPC support will be added for the first Chrono Gate, enabling players to fight with allies Solo and party content will be redesigned: solo challenges will emphasize technical, pattern-based mechanics, while party play will offer cooperative objectives and role-based gameplay Major content will feature clearer indicators for recommended level, gear, and party size Chrono Odyssey Stability, Graphics, and Audio Enhancements The team will also deliver major upgrades to performance and fidelity: Rendering and memory systems will be restructured to reduce GPU/CPU load Dynamic loading based on hardware specs to Visual quality will be enhanced with improved lighting, DLSS/FSR support, and smoother transitions Heavier weapon impact sounds, more immersive music loops, and adaptive environmental audio New Chrono Odyssey Social and Quality-of-Life Features Direct party, guild, and friend invites through chat and interface menus Improved map navigation, quest tracking, and ping-based coordination tools New UI and systems for stat clarity, skill presets, gear swapping, and crafting upgrades Chat system upgrades with persistent settings and color-coded channels As you can see, that's a ton of changes and it still isn't everything mentioned. Now that the Chrono Odyssey developers have made such a specific list, it will be interesting to see how much of this they actually get through prior to the next testing period and, more importantly, before the game's full global launch that was planned for this year on consoles and PC.

Blue Protocol: Star Resonance English Closed Beta Signups Now Open

Blue Protocol: Star Resonance Starting today, players can finally start signing up for the Blue Protocol: Star Resonance English closed beta test (CBT). The closed beta test application period will last from today until August 14 and the actual testing period will run from August 15 until August 20. Applications are open for players in North America, Europe, and South America. The game is slated for a global free-to-play launch this year across both PC and mobile. Since this is a closed beta test, that means there will be a cap on how many players are allowed entry and all characters and progress will be wiped after the testing period. According to a press release I received, slots for the testing period will be 'randomly allocated based on survey responses.' However, interestingly, players will be able to make in-game purchases during the testing period, but there are no details on what will be available for purchase. The nice thing is that anything you spend during the CBT, will be noted and converted into in-game currency when the game officially launches at a rebate rate. I've never seen a process like that before, but it's an interesting idea. You can find more details on that here. Blue Protocol: Star Resonance CBT We don't have any details on how much of the game will be available during the CBT period, but giving players almost an entire week with the game is promising. Hopefully that means more than just an introductory area to mess around in. I'm planning to sign up and check it out for myself so I can report back with impressions next month. I originally wrote about Blue Protocol several years ago when it was unveiled the first time and have been curious about the game ever since. Hopefully this new re-launch has a brighter future than the previous incarnation under its new publisher. Since then, the anime-style MMO-like subgenre is definitely quite a bit more popular. Between games like Genshin Impact, Honkai Star Rail, and Tower of Fantasy—just to name a few—there is absolutely an audience out there. If you're interested in signing up for a chance to check out the English Closed Beta Test for Blue Protocol: Star Resonance, you can fill out the form here and check the game's official website and Steam page for more details.
