Pilates studio slams influencer who sparked outrage with fat-shaming views and put weight limit on exercise
A Texas Pilates studio has broken its silence after an ex-member went viral for her fat-shaming rants - claiming people over 200 pounds should be excluded from the popular exercise. The internet went up in flames when Monica Cruz, who goes by Succulent Addict on her online platforms, posted the first of her jaw-dropping TikToks earlier this week. 'This might be a hot take for some people, but if you're 200 pounds, you shouldn't be in a Pilates class,' the sunglasses-wearing influencer confidently declared while sitting in her car after a Pilates class. 'There's no reason why they should allow 200-pound people in a level 2 class. Or, you shouldn't be allowed to be a Pilates instructor if you have a gut and you're fat. 'What the f**k is going on? Is this even real? Is this America? Standards are so f**king low.' The 30-year-old sparked instant outrage, with viewers in disbelief of her blatant ignorance. But instead of shying away from the negative attention, she decided to double-down on her unpopular belief in a follow-up video. In the clip, she baselessly claimed people over 200 pounds do not benefit from Pilates and are better off joining a regular gym. As her hateful tangents caught traction, her Pilates gym, the Club Pilates in Quarry Market, deemed her behavior unacceptable. Ashton Hallett, the regional marketing manager of four Club Pilates locations, including the Quarry Market one, addressed Cruz's exclusionary remarks. 'We want to be clear: the individual who made this video has been permanently removed from our member base and is no longer welcome at any of our studios,' she wrote to 'These comments are not only hurtful, but they also directly oppose the values we uphold as a studio and a community. 'At Club Pilates Quarry Market, we believe Pilates is for everyBODY. Our mission is to foster a welcoming, inclusive space where individuals of all sizes, ages, backgrounds, and fitness levels feel safe, seen, and supported.' Hallet said even though Cruz's comments were disheartening and offensive, it opened up an important conversation about the fitness industry. 'It's a reminder of how vital it is to continue challenging outdated, narrow ideas of what fitness 'should' look like and instead champion spaces where everyone belongs!' she explained. Hallet also shared a brief video on Instagram, updating other members on the situation and reinforcing the studio's 'zero-tolerance' policy for bullying. In a tearful apology, Cruz claimed she was not only barred from the exercise club, but fired from her job. was unable to confirm if she was actually removed from her job. According to her LinkedIn, she has ties to a San Antonio dental office as a marketing coordinator. The office did not provide with any information on the matter. 'It's just so toxic and I'm so sorry about that,' Cruz said in the apology, that many viewers slammed as fabricated. All three of her controversial videos have since been deleted from her TikTok account. But other users have shared their passionate reactions, calling Cruz out for her bizarre and outdated stance. 'I don't know what possessed her to come out and say this, this is nasty, evil,' TikTok user Uncle Juan shared in a post. He went on to describe her as an entitled 'snob', who is giving the Pilates community an awful reputation. Another user, Kiizoe, was simply not buying Cruz's apology. 'You are toxic, and you're not sorry... You just look bitter, you just look like you have nothing better to do than to put someone down,' she said. Pilates instructors have also shared their takes on the heavily publicized situation, pointing to a larger problem within the community. Kersten Veronesi, a self-described 'Plus Size Certified Pilates Instructor' wrote on TikTok: 'Unfortunately there are many like her, the worst are the instructors who think this way bc it actually takes a skilled instructor to truly teach for all bodies. 'The industry is changing slowly. Me and my big belly are going to continue to teach all bodies how to enjoy Pilates.' Another instructor, Norah Myers, uploaded a statement on Instagram, commending Club Pilates for taking action against Cruz. 'I am so thankful that Club Pilates did what they did - it shows that they stand for inclusion, diversity, representation, and kindness,' she wrote. 'I am so thankful that the Pilates community has come together to promote Pilates for what it's actually for: posture, strength, balance, mobility, flexibility, pain relief, and recovery from injuries and surgeries.'

‘Scary' job interview moment caught on video
Picture this: You've polished off your resume, triple-checked your outfit and you're ready to charm your way into a dream job. Then, you log into the virtual meeting room only to be met with a robotic voice instead of the typical friendly manager. This is the disturbing new reality of job interviews in 2025. In clips posted to social media, job applicants have shared their experiences with the new technology. 'This was so scary guys,' one post was captioned. Gathering over 2.5 million views, many were quick to brand the new practice as 'disrespectful' and 'dystopian'. A woman who appears to be interviewing for a job at international gym chain Club Pilates can be seen dressed in a blazer with her hair and makeup done. She is then met with the voice of an AI assistant who says, 'Hello, I'm Alex the recruiter at Club Pilates.' Before she can even reply, the bot continues to speak saying, 'Thank you for taking the time to interview today,' before going on to explain the role. 'I just wanted to interview in real life,' the woman told her viewers. 'AI interviews are so disrespectful and dehumanising. You don't want anything to do with this company if this is how they are treating their candidates,' said one viewer. 'If a company doesn't have the decency to use a real human to interview you that shows exactly who the company is,' agreed another. 'Oh wow. This is so unacceptable,' said a third. AI software is becoming increasingly popular with employers who are using it as an efficient, cheaper and quicker way to sift through large volumes of applicants. Sometimes, the technology is used to filter likely-candidates through to a second human-led interview. Other times, the AI tool may decide whether a candidate moves forward in the hiring process without any human review. AI interview bots are digital systems powered by artificial intelligence that can ask questions, listen to your answers, analyse your tone, and even your facial expressions. Big-name companies such as L'Oreal are already implementing this technology to screen thousands of candidates. Why AI? Unlike human recruiters, AI bots have the ability to interview 500 people before lunch. It serves as a time and cost-effective way of getting through the interview process. In theory, AI's supposed bias reduction is meant to provide applicants with a more level playing field where their looks, outfits or even voice are not considered. Their data-driven decisions take all the hard work out of crunching the numbers, patterns and keywords to determine who's ready for the job. However, the human touch and personal connection is missing. What's the big problem with AI? Recruitment expert and workplace consultant Tammie Ballis told that the use of AI in interviews can be 'irresponsible and dangerous'. 'When it comes to human factor you still need instinct, you still need to hear the motivation of the candidate and assess their body language. All the things AI can't do,' she said. Ms Ballis has been in the industry for 10 years and believes Australians aren't willing to put up with AI interviewing. She believes that candidates who have their first interview in-person are 'more likely to stay for the duration of the recruitment process'. Applicants are not only missing out on human connection, they are also being met with a lack of transparency. Having no idea what criteria the AI bot is using to interview you can mean that key points and creativity are easily lost in translation. 'Because you're not speaking to a real person you can't ask questions. You can't ask for feedback or for them to rephrase the question,' Ms Ballis said. Not only this, using AI presents the obvious issue of malfunctions. In clips shared to social media, people have captured the moment their AI interviews took a turn for the worst. In one video captioned 'I was expecting a real human. They didn't tell me ahead of time they'd use AI,' a man in a shirt and tie can be seen on a video call with an AI bot. The bot can be heard repeatedly saying 'lets touch base' as it appears to malfunction over and over before becoming incoherent. Ms Ballis believes recruitment is a strictly 'human job' but that agencies can benefit from the implementation of AI in other ways such as writing job ads, completing tedious manual tasks or screening resumes.

Xponential Fitness (NYSE:XPOF) Surprises With Q1 Sales But Stock Drops
Boutique fitness studio franchisor Xponential Fitness (NYSE:XPOF) reported Q1 CY2025 results exceeding the market's revenue expectations , but sales fell by 3.3% year on year to $76.88 million. The company expects the full year's revenue to be around $320 million, close to analysts' estimates. Its non-GAAP loss of $0.20 per share was significantly below analysts' consensus estimates. Is now the time to buy Xponential Fitness? Find out in our full research report. Revenue: $76.88 million vs analyst estimates of $76.09 million (3.3% year-on-year decline, 1% beat) Adjusted EPS: -$0.20 vs analyst estimates of $0.15 (significant miss) Adjusted EBITDA: $27.33 million vs analyst estimates of $28.86 million (35.5% margin, 5.3% miss) The company reconfirmed its revenue guidance for the full year of $320 million at the midpoint EBITDA guidance for the full year is $122.5 million at the midpoint, in line with analyst expectations Operating Margin: 12.6%, up from 9.3% in the same quarter last year Free Cash Flow Margin: 7%, up from 2.3% in the same quarter last year Market Capitalization: $293.9 million Owner of CycleBar, Rumble, and Club Pilates, Xponential Fitness (NYSE:XPOF) is a boutique fitness brand offering diverse and specialized exercise experiences. Examining a company's long-term performance can provide clues about its quality. Any business can put up a good quarter or two, but the best consistently grow over the long haul. Thankfully, Xponential Fitness's 32.2% annualized revenue growth over the last four years was incredible. Its growth beat the average consumer discretionary company and shows its offerings resonate with customers. Long-term growth is the most important, but within consumer discretionary, product cycles are short and revenue can be hit-driven due to rapidly changing trends and consumer preferences. Xponential Fitness's recent performance shows its demand has slowed significantly as its annualized revenue growth of 9.3% over the last two years was well below its four-year trend. Note that COVID hurt Xponential Fitness's business in 2020 and part of 2021, and it bounced back in a big way thereafter. Xponential Fitness also breaks out the revenue for its three most important segments: Franchise, Equipment, and Merchandise, which are 57.1%, 14.4%, and 8.1% of revenue. Over the last two years, Xponential Fitness's Franchise (royalty fees) and Equipment (workout equipment sold to franchisees) revenues averaged year-on-year growth of 20.3% and 4.4% while its Merchandise revenue (apparel sold to franchisees) averaged 2.6% declines. This quarter, Xponential Fitness's revenue fell by 3.3% year on year to $76.88 million but beat Wall Street's estimates by 1%. Looking ahead, sell-side analysts expect revenue to grow 2.9% over the next 12 months, a deceleration versus the last two years. This projection doesn't excite us and indicates its products and services will face some demand challenges. Today's young investors likely haven't read the timeless lessons in Gorilla Game: Picking Winners In High Technology because it was written more than 20 years ago when Microsoft and Apple were first establishing their supremacy. But if we apply the same principles, then enterprise software stocks leveraging their own generative AI capabilities may well be the Gorillas of the future. So, in that spirit, we are excited to present our Special Free Report on a profitable, fast-growing enterprise software stock that is already riding the automation wave and looking to catch the generative AI next. Operating margin is an important measure of profitability as it shows the portion of revenue left after accounting for all core expenses – everything from the cost of goods sold to advertising and wages. It's also useful for comparing profitability across companies with different levels of debt and tax rates because it excludes interest and taxes. Xponential Fitness's operating margin has shrunk over the last 12 months, and it ended up breaking even over the last two years. Although this result isn't good, the company's elite historical revenue growth suggests it ramped up investments to capture market share. We'll keep a close eye to see if this strategy pays off. This quarter, Xponential Fitness generated an operating profit margin of 12.6%, up 3.3 percentage points year on year. This increase was a welcome development, especially since its revenue fell, showing it was more efficient because it scaled down its expenses. We track the long-term change in earnings per share (EPS) for the same reason as long-term revenue growth. Compared to revenue, however, EPS highlights whether a company's growth is profitable. Although Xponential Fitness's full-year earnings are still negative, it reduced its losses and improved its EPS by 17.3% annually over the last four years. The next few quarters will be critical for assessing its long-term profitability. In Q1, Xponential Fitness reported EPS at negative $0.20, down from $0.16 in the same quarter last year. This print missed analysts' estimates. Over the next 12 months, Wall Street is optimistic. Analysts forecast Xponential Fitness's full-year EPS of negative $0.46 will flip to positive $1.13. It was good to see Xponential Fitness narrowly top analysts' revenue expectations this quarter. On the other hand, its EPS missed significantly and its EBITDA fell short of Wall Street's estimates. Overall, this quarter could have been better. The stock traded down 9.4% to $7.90 immediately after reporting. Xponential Fitness underperformed this quarter, but does that create an opportunity to invest right now? What happened in the latest quarter matters, but not as much as longer-term business quality and valuation, when deciding whether to invest in this stock. We cover that in our actionable full research report which you can read here, it's free. Sign in to access your portfolio
