Myrtle Beach man jailed after allegedly beating woman so severely she could suffer vision loss, report says

HORRY COUNTY, S.C. (WBTW) — A 34-year-old man was arrested on Thursday after allegedly beating a woman so severely that she could suffer vision loss, an Horry County police report said. Georgi Angelov of Myrtle Beach was charged with assault of a high and aggravated nature and kidnapping in connection with the April 11 incident at a Myrtle Beach-area home, the report said. According to the report, Angelov and the woman got into an argument about him allegedly being a drug dealer, and he slammed her face into a wall and punched her multiple times. By the time officers arrived, medics had already taken the woman to the hospital as a Level 1 trauma patient. Medics told an officer that the woman's eyes were swollen and that she could not open them, the report said. They believed she had been unconscious for an unknown period of time. The report said officers talked to the woman and a doctor at the hospital, who said that both of her orbital bones were broken and would require surgery. The doctor said the surgery could cause the woman to suffer vision loss, and that she also suffered a broken nose. The woman told officers that Angelov would hit her anytime she tried to leave and that he took her phone so that she could not able to reach out for help, warrants show. She also said that he hit her in the back of the head with a Grey Goose bottle while she was curled into the fetal position and that her fake nails had been ripped off. Angelov is being held without bond at the J. Reuben Long Detention Center. No further information on the condition of the victim was available. * * * Jordan White is a Digital Producer at News13.
