Keith Lee Gives Update On Potential In-Ring Return

AEW star Keith Lee remains confident about making a comeback for his in-ring return. Lee hasn't wrestled for AEW since December 2023, when he defeated Brian Cage during the Holiday Bash episode of Collision. Since then, he's stayed off television but fans have been wondering when he will make his possible return. Advertisement When a fan reached out to him on Twitter/X with well wishes and hopes of seeing him wrestle again, Lee responded with optimism. He confirmed that he's in good health and remains confident that he will eventually step back into the ring. He wrote, 'You have my appreciation. I am quite well! Only time will tell when or where, but I am confident that time will come. Have patience my friend. Lead with Love. Be well.' As for his health status, the last update came in October 2024 when it reported that Lee had not medically cleared to return to in-ring competition due to an undisclosed medical issue. Despite the setback, the report confirmed that Lee remains under contract with AEW and is still listed on the active roster. Advertisement Keith Lee's run in AEW has had its share of highs and lows since his debut in 2022 following his release from WWE. He made an immediate impact by forming a tag team with Swerve Strickland, and together they captured the AEW World Tag Team Championship. However, the partnership eventually crumbled when Strickland betrayed Lee, sparking a heated rivalry. That feud, however, never reached its conclusion. An undisclosed medical issue sidelined Lee, removing him from the storyline. Although AEW had planned for the two to face off at Worlds End 2023, Lee was pulled from the match due to his health concerns. AEW star Keith Lee has provided an encouraging update regarding his health and his eventual return to the squared circle, assuring fans he is doing well despite a prolonged absence from television. Lee has been out of action since December 2023, an absence necessitated by his undergoing double surgery in early 2024. Addressing his in-ring future in response to a fan on social media who expressed hope to see him compete again, Lee stated, "You have my appreciation. I am quite well! Only time will tell when or where, but I am confident that time will come. Have patience my friend. Lead with Love. Be well." Lee's last match for AEW was a victory over Brian Cage on the Holiday Bash episode of Collision in December 2023, and he was recently spotted backstage at an AEW Collision taping in Houston. After runs in WWE and TNA, the rival promotion has made an interesting hire. Now, Josh Mathews has confirmed that he has started a new role working with Tony Khan. He is now involved with the production side of both AEW and Ring of Honor (ROH). He shared this news about his new position while talking with Maven Huffman backstage at a recent AEW show. Mathews gave details about his current work in the production department for both companies. He stated, "Right now, [I'm] shadowing Mike Mansury. So, I'll do the Ring of Honor matches before. Then I'll sit and watch Collision. Then I'll do the Ring of Honor matches after." This statement from Mathews aligns with earlier news reports. Those reports already noted that he was working with AEW's production team following his departure from TNA Wrestling. AEW Josh first became known to wrestling fans in 2001. He did very well and was a runner-up on the first season of WWE's TV competition show, Tough Enough. Even though he did not win the Tough Enough competition, WWE hired him. This started a long career with the company that lasted for thirteen years, until 2014. During his time with WWE, Mathews became a well-known face to WWE fans through many different jobs. He served as a main backstage interviewer, seen most often on the WWE SmackDown brand. He was also a busy commentator and announcer, calling the matches for many shows including Velocity, the newer ECW brand, WWE NXT during its early days, WWE Superstars, Saturday Morning Slam, and WWE Main Event. In addition, he hosted online shows for such as the program "Byte This." While he was mostly known for his work as a broadcaster, Mathews even had a short time wrestling in the ring in 2004, where he did not lose any matches, and notably teamed with Booker T. More news: WWE News: Steve Austin Reveals Real-Life Vince McMahon Confrontation Following his release from WWE in June 2014, Mathews soon started working for Total Nonstop Action Wrestling (TNA), which later changed its name to Impact Wrestling. He quickly became an essential part of their broadcasts, taking over as the lead play-by-play announcer for their main show, Impact Wrestling, starting in January 2015. Around 2021, Mathews stopped doing full-time commentary for TNA/Impact and took on important backstage jobs, working as the company's Senior Producer and later also taking the role of Senior Director of Digital Media. After nearly ten years of helping TNA both on TV and behind the scenes, Mathews left the company in February 2025. This happened while the organization was making many changes. His recent arrival at AEW now brings another experienced person to their growing production team. More WWE News: For more on WWE, head to Newsweek Sports.

Skye Blue Recalls Scary Details Of Her Broken Ankle Injury

Skye Blue returns to the ring this week on AEW Dynamite, but the scary details of her injury are still fresh in her mind. All Elite Wrestling's Skye Blue was a recent guest on Q101. When asked about her broken ankle injury came about last year in her match with Hikaru Shida, Blue detailed the events of that night and the brutal details of her injury that put her on the shelf for almost a year. Advertisement 'I was catching a dive. I've caught dives before so I didn't think anything of it,' Skye Blue said. 'As she jumped, I could tell something was off with it. It was either her head was hitting the floor or I was going to dive and catch her. I dove and caught her. The second I felt it, I rolled over to get up because I had to crawl to where I was going, I felt my foot dangling from my leg. 'I could feel it detached. It was the grossest feeling that I've ever felt. Before I even told the ref, 'Hey, my ankle is messed up,' there was already a doctor in front of me. She's like, 'You're done. You're not getting up.' 'No, let me finish the match.' I tried to get up and I screamed. 'She goes, 'Sit down. You're done.' 'Okay.' I was terrified because I just wanted to finish the match. I never felt anything like this. It was the first major injury. I snapped my fibula. There are two long screws (on one side) and (on the other side) is a plate and six screws. That was probably the scariest thing ever.' When asked if she thought that injury might have meant the end of her career, Blue admitted that the thought did cross her mind. Advertisement 'That definitely crossed through my head a bunch of times, especially at night when I couldn't sleep,' Skye Blue admitted. 'It'd be like four in the morning and there were times I would have to lay with my leg straight because if I moved it, it was in pain. [Kyle] was the best because he'd be like, 'Tell those voices to shut up. You're going to wrestle. You're not going to just sit on this couch and mop.' He was by far the biggest supporter I could ever ask for.' [H/T: Fightful] READ MORE: Skye Blue Comments On AEW Return What do you make of Skye Blue's comments?
