Colorado crash survivor shares story of deadly collision: 'We shouldn't be here'

It is photos of the wreckage that are among many reminders of how Colorado resident Magda Navarro's life has completely changed after a deadly crash earlier this year. "I don't know, I have a lot of emotions," said Navarro. "It's crazy how you feel untouchable in life, and then things like this happen." Navarro sat down with CBS Colorado more than a month after she was severely injured in a multi-vehicle crash on I-270. "I've had this brace since I've been in the accident," she said. CBS It was after 6 p.m. on April 8, when Navarro was driving eastbound on I-270 with her two sons to celebrate her second day at a new job. "All of a sudden, I just feel this really bad impact and my son yelling, 'Mom'," said Navarro. A gray Dodge Durango struck Navarro's red Buick and at least one other car. Navarro's car flipped over with her and her children inside. Magda Navarro "I was so scared that the car was going to go up in flames or explode and my kids be in there," she said. "I was in just so much pain that I couldn't even help my kids to get out of the car." Navarro said she was in and out of consciousness, but her children were eventually rescued by paramedics with minor injuries. After she was rescued, Navarro spent the next 10 days in the hospital with multiple fractured discs, torn ligaments, and a traumatic brain injury. "Thank god I don't have any bleeding or anything like that, but my brain is still swollen," said Navarro. Magda Navarro Crashes are not uncommon on I-270. Earlier this week, another accident occurred on I-270 between U.S. 6 and Quebec Street. It could still take another year for the I-270 Corridor Improvement Study to complete its environmental study before work can begin to improve traffic flow and safety on the interstate. Navarro, however, said it is going to take a lot more accountability from drivers on the road to improve traffic behavior. "If anything, I would just say, please, before you drink and drive or speed, just take into consideration that you're not only putting your life at risk but you're putting other people's as well," said Navarro. She said it is frustrating that she may never know why this crash happened, since the driver of the Dodge died at the scene. "As bad as this accident was, we shouldn't be here," said Navarro. CBS Now, she's grappling with the fear she could end up paralyzed if a disc on her upper spine doesn't heal, while at the same time trying to crowdfund and support her family amid this new normal. "If you can't help your children out when they're most in need, you feel worthless," Navarro shared. Still, she remains hopeful more tragedies like this do not happen to other people on the road. "It was terrifying. It was a big eye-opener for me," said Navarro.

Julius Thomas gives his prediction for Bo Nix's second season

Julius Thomas had a relatively brief but impactful career with the Denver Broncos. Playing for the club from 2011-2014, Thomas recorded two Pro Bowl seasons in 2013 and 2014. In those two seasons, he tallied 1,277 yards and 24 touchdowns, becoming one of Peyton Manning's favorite targets. So when it comes to the Broncos, he's certified. This is why, after nailing his Bo Nix prediction in 2024, he's back for a second prediction for Nix in his sophomore season. Thomas stated that Nix, although it may have been uncertain for Broncos Country then, would be pleased with Nix as the quarterback. This year, Thomas sees growth due to how Nix came in and learned Sean Payton's system at a rapid pace. Thomas elaborates more below. Nix showed he could be an elite quarterback in college, playing for two teams and five different offensive coordinators in five years. Despite that, he left the NCAA as the single-season completion percentage leader in 2024. So, with stability in the NFL, Thomas has merit in believing that Nix will make an even bigger jump in 2025. ‘The Black Phone 2' Dials In Some Ominous Teasers

In 2022, horror duo Scott Derrickson and C. Robert Cargill of Sinister fame teamed to adapt Joe Hill's short story The Black Phone. Things wrapped pretty conclusively in that one, but you can't keep a good Grabber (Ethan Hawke) down it seems, because he's back in a sequel coming this fall. The first film saw Finn (Mason Thames) kidnapped by the Grabber and stuck in a room with a rotary phone that could contact ghosts of the killer's previous victims. With their help, Finn killed the Grabber and reunited with his family. In anticipation for Black Phone 2, Blumhouse's released three teasers that let you know the Grabber's returned and set his sights on kids at Colorado's Alpine Lake Youth Camp during the winter. 'The phone is ringing again. Are you going to answer?' We just got a text that included the first tease for BLACK PHONE 2! Only in theaters this October. — Fandango (@Fandango) May 31, 2025 'We're going to die out here.' A third video teasing BLACK PHONE 2 just arrived in the form of another mysterious text message… on our phone 😱 — Fandango (@Fandango) May 31, 2025 Each of the teasers contain grainy shots of the snow-covered camp and its various facilities, photos of young boys kidnapped and what remains of them after the Grabber's finished. (One victim's left in the ice, another folded under a bed, and the third has half his face burned and appears throughout all of them, either looking at the camera or appearing and disappearing without a word.) Each teaser also has a single word flash onscreen, which spell out the phrase 'Word is Just.' Finally, there's a phone booth somewhere on the premises with its own black phone, which keeps ringing and is waiting for someone to answer. Back at April's CinemaCon, Universal showed off Black Phone 2 footage teasing the Grabber is using the titular phone to come back and haunt the surviving kids from the previous movie. If that's the case, he certainly hasn't lost a step, and we'll find out what other tricks he's got up his sleeve when the film releases October 17.

Deion Sanders, Colorado Buffaloes add three-star former Big 10 offensive lineman transfer

Deion Sanders, Colorado Buffaloes add three-star former Big 10 offensive lineman transfer Deion Sanders is beefing up the trenches again as the Colorado Buffaloes added another offensive lineman through the transfer portal. The Buffs landed former Northwestern Wildcats offensive guard transfer Cooper Lovelace on Friday. The guard was ranked a three-star transfer recruit by 247Sports. He entered the portal on April 25. Lovelace was a junior college prospect before spending two years at USC and 2024 with the Wildcats. He joins Colorado with one year of eligibility remaining. The 6-foot-5, 300-pound guard started eight games and appeared in 11 for the Wildcats. Lovelace was the No. 1 interior offensive lineman prospect, a JUCO prospect, before committing to USC. As a transfer, he was ranked the 113th-best interior lineman in the portal. Lovelace only played one year of high school football before playing at Butler Community College in El Dorado, Kansas. During his time at Butler, he played all over the trenches, getting snaps at center, guard and tackle. His versatility would continue on the Division I level. In his 2023 season at USC, he played right tackle and right guard in four games. In Lovelace's lone season at Northwestern, he started eight games at left guard and allowed only one sack. He is now the fourth offensive lineman Coach Prime has added in the spring portal window and the ninth overall this offseason. Lovelace is also the 32nd transfer Colorado has brought in, though both the winter and spring periods.
