Seahawks rookie WR Tory Horton is very involved at OTAs
Seahawks rookie WR Tory Horton is very involved at OTAs The Seattle Seahawks selected former Colorado State wide receiver Tory Horton with their No. 166 overall selection in the fifth round of the 2025 NFL draft. Horton was prolific at CSU in 2022 and 2023, recording back-to-back 1,000 yard seasons while totaling 167 receptions. Horton unfortunately missed the majority of his senior 2024 campaign with a knee injury. He appeared in just five contests before suffering the season-ending setback. Horton slid further in the draft as a result, and the Seahawks pounced on his availability on Day Three. In terrific news, Horton has been participating at Seahawks OTAs this week. During Monday's open practice, Horton was a full participant in open-field drills, according to Gregg Bell. Perhaps the first telltale sign that Horton was getting past the knee injury was his participation at the NFL Combine. Horton was a complete participant, running a stellar 4.42-second 40-yard dash at 6-foot-2 and 196 pounds. The former Biletnikoff Award watch list nominee also leaped a 37.5 inch vertical. Horton's health at OTAs is a great sign for the Seahawks. Klint Kubiak's offense is searching for back-end playmakers at receiver behind Jaxon Smith-Njigba and Cooper Kupp. Horton should compete for snaps with Marquez Valdes-Scantling and Jake Bobo.

Forecast: Smoke exits, storms move in
DES MOINES, Iowa — We didn't get as warm as we thought we would Sunday, as smoke aloft knocked a few degrees off our highs. Stronger south winds will kick in on Monday and push temps and dewpoints up, setting us up for Tuesday storms. The weather timeline steps you through the variables in three-hourly increments: Low's Sunday night will be warmer than the past few, helping set us up for a hotter Monday. As we move into the late afternoon, we'll see the smoke aloft exit east as the jet stream pattern changes. The Storm Prediction Center and Colorado State's severe weather algorithm have eastern Iowa pegged for stronger storms Tuesday. Wind and hail would be the main threats. It appears the best window for storm chances Tuesday in central Iowa will come between 3 a.m. and 7 p.m. Predicted rainfall amounts look pretty good! We have isolated shower chances both Thursday and Saturday in the forecast. Rain chances look to be a little higher next Saturday night and Sunday as things stand on June 1st. Highs for the next six days are in the slideshow above, and your WHO 13 7-day forecasts are below: It does appear that we'll enter a wetter pattern by mid-month, though we look to end June a bit above-average in terms of temperature. Nets work out Colorado State's Nique Clifford ahead of 2025 NBA Draft
Nets work out Colorado State's Nique Clifford ahead of 2025 NBA Draft The Brooklyn Nets head into the 2025 NBA Draft with five picks to use, including four in the first round that could bring them a massive influx of young talent. From now until the Draft late in June, Brooklyn will be trying to get as much intel as possible on prospects and one of those players was recently brought in for a workout ahead of the Draft. The Nets brought in Colorado State forward Nique Clifford for a predraft workout at some point recently, according to a report from Brian Lewis of the New York Post on Thursday. Some of the other notable names that have worked out for Brooklyn already are Oklahoma guard Jeremiah Fears and Duke forward Kon Knueppel, two players that the Nets could select with the eighth overall pick. Clifford, listed at 6-foot-5 and 202 pounds, is coming off a senior season in which he rose his draft stock immensely after averaging 18.9 points, 9.6 rebounds, 4.4 assists, and 1.2 steals per game while shooting 49.6% from the field and 37.7% from three-point land. In the latest mock draft from Bleacher Report's Jonathan Wasserman, Clifford is being taken by the Miami Heat with the 20th overall pick, one spot after the Nets select Michigan State guard Jase Richardson 19th overall. "Nique Clifford should draw interest from teams that are prioritizing prospects that can provide instant minutes and versatility," Wasserman wrote when discussing Clifford. "A 23-year-old won't be for everyone, but between his age, broad shoulders, shotmaking diversity, playmaking IQ, excellent rebounding numbers and experience playing different roles, Clifford should look like an NBA-ready forward with an adaptable game." As Lewis pointed out in his post on X, Clifford is mocked to go anywhere from the back end of the Lottery to 20th overall, meaning that he could be there for the taking by the Nets with the 19th overall pick, assuming that he impressed Brooklyn in his workout. Clifford is an older prospect, but that doesn't change the fact that he presents like the kind of player who could contribute right away for head coach Jordi Fernandez and company.

Browns have 56 players at rookie minicamp. Which of the 26 tryouts will win a roster spot?
Cleveland Browns rookie minicamp is officially underway in Berea and will run from May 9-11, before a few of the rookies head off to the NFLPA Rookie Premiere. Earlier today, the Browns officially confirmed the signing of 13 undrafted free agents, which brings their roster to 91 players. Unless there is a player exemption that I am unaware of, the team should be releasing someone soon to get to 90 players. Nonetheless, there is also a lot of competition taking place at rookie minicamp. A total of 56 players are taking place, including 26 players who are trying out. Let's break the players down by category: 2025 NFL Draft Picks (7 players) QB Dillon Gabriel QB Shedeur Sanders RB Qunshon Judkins RB Dylan Sampson TE Harold Fannin Jr. DT Mason Graham LB Carson Schwesinger Undrafted Free Agents (13 players) RB Ahmani Marshall - 6-1, 225 lbs - Appalachian State FB Eli Wilson - 6-3, 239 lbs - Appalachian State WR Gage Larvadain - 5-8, 171 lbs - South Carolina WR Ja'Seem Reed - 6-1, 190 lbs - San Diego OG Justin Osborne - 6-4, 307 lbs - SMU OT Jason Ivey - 6-5, 300 lbs - North Carolina A&T OG Dartanyan Tinsley - 6-3, 340 lbs - Cincinnati DT Adin Huntington - 6-1, 281 lbs - Tulane LB Easton Mascarenas-Arnold - 5-11, 227 lbs - USC S Donovan McMilllon - 6-2, 203 lbs - Pittsburgh CB Dom Jones - 6-2, 192 lbs - Colorado State CB LaMareon James - 5-10, 193 lbs - TCU LS Brent Matiscik - 6-1, 230 lbs - TCU Tryouts (26 players) FB Peter Montini - 6-0, 233 lbs - Colorado State WR Kisean Johnson - 6-1, 216 lbs - Western Kentucky WR Zach Patterson - 5-8, 179 lbs - Central Missouri State WR Cade McDonald - 5-10, 196 lbs - Miami (OH) WR Malcolm Johnson - 6-1, 188 lbs - Bowling Green WR Luke Floriea - 5-8, 179 lbs - Kent State WR Jabre Barber - 5-9, 179 lbs - Texas A&M TE John Samuel Shenker - 6-3, 242 lbs - Auburn TE Deontay Campbell - 6-3, 245 lbs - Missouri Southern State TE Keshawn Toney - 6-2, 251 lbs - South Carolina State TE Mitch Van Vooren - 6-5, 242 lbs - St. Norbert OG Cam'Ron Johnson - 6-3, 305 lbs - Missouri DE John Pius - 6-3, 242 lbs - Wisconsin DE Davin Vann - 6-1, 269 lbs - North Carolina State LB Ty Wise - 6-2, 223 lbs - Miami (OH) LB Donald Willis - 6-1, 225 lbs - Western Michigan LB Matt Hudson - 6-2, 231 lbs - Memphis LB Macklin Ayers - 6-2, 226 lbs - Massachusetts-Amherst CB Tahveon Nicholson - 5-9, 182 lbs - Louisville CB Jordan Wright - 5-10, 187 lbs - Connecticut CB Christian Ais - 6-0, 202 lbs - New Haven CB Austin McKinney - 6-0, 200 lbs - Northwest Missouri State S Iverson Brown - 6-1, 211 lbs - Southern Illionois S Joseph Charleston - 6-0, 204 lbs - Missouri K Michael Hughes - 6-2, 180 lbs - Appalachian State P Avery Brook - 5-10, 197 lbs - Akron Advertisement It's not unheard of to see 2 or 3 tryout players be impressive enough during the rookie minicamp that they end up getting signed. However, some players are there to simply fill out the numbers game for a camp in all liklihood. For example, the Browns need someone to handle punt duties, so they brought Avery Brook from Akron in to handle those duties for the weekend. Non-Rookies on Roster (10 players) WR Kaden Davis OT Julian Pearl OT Roy Mbaeteka OT Lorenzo Thompson OG Brady Latham DT Ralph Holley DE Marcus Haynes S Christopher Edmonds S Trey Dean K Andrew Szmyt Every year, there are some players who aren't rookies, but are fringe first-year players (typically on reserve/future contracts), who also take part in rookie minicamp. These are the type of players who also need to have a solid rookie minicamp, because if one of those 26 tryout players makes a big impression, these guys could be viewed as yesterday's news, so-to-speak. While all of the headlines will be on Shedeur Sanders, are there any tryout players who caught your eye from their college days? Advertisement More from

First-round draft pick Mykel Williams stands out during 49ers' rookie minicamp
First-round draft pick Mykel Williams stands out during 49ers' rookie minicamp originally appeared on NBC Sports Bay Area SANTA CLARA — Defensive end Mykel Williams was the standout as the 49ers' 2025 draft class made their on-field debut at rookie minicamp on Friday. Advertisement San Francisco's first-round draft pick was eye-catching, not only in stature but in his ability to show quickness off the line in positional drills. There was no full squad work, so the defensive line spent the entire session getting indoctrinated into the 49ers' way by defensive line coach Kris Kocurek. Williams looked bigger and faster than the rest, by far, as the group worked on getting off the line, facing staff members as well as working on the sled. The 49ers' second-round draft pick, Alfred Collins, might be as tall as Williams, and heavier, but the defensive tackle did not participate with an undisclosed lower-body injury. Advertisement Defensive tackle C.J. West, selected in the fourth round, participated in drills with the group that included Williams, undrafted free agent Sebastian Valdez, and six other defensive line try-out players. On the offensive side of the ball, receivers Jordan Watkins and Junior Bergen got a little extra boundary work with trainers, making sideline catches while the rest of the group ran routes under offensive coordinator Klay Kubiak and receivers coach Leonard Hankerson's instruction. Both rookie receivers eventually were worked into the mix, catching passes from second-year quarterback Tanner Mordecai, the primary signal-caller during practice. Advertisement Watkins made a deep catch on a go-route look extremely easy, as did undrafted free agent Isaiah Neyor, who towered over the receiving group. Neyor showed off his speed in individual drills but pulled up with what appeared to be calf tightness during the middle of the practice. The Cornhusker returned to make one of the best catches of the day, deep to the right side while being covered by tryout safety Maceo Beard from Potsdam. The best defensive play of the day was made by tryout safety Jack Howell from Colorado State, who high-pointed a ball thrown by Mordecai to the left sideline. The ball seemed to sail on the quarterback and Howell was able to capitalize on the miscalculation. Running back Jordan James did a sizable amount of work with running backs coach Bobby Turner, giving him instructions. Once the Oregon product joined the offense, he was quickly utilized as a receiver, showing off his route-running abilities. The ball carrier quickly got into a steady rhythm with Mordecai, which could be a sign of things to come for the rookie. Advertisement Second-year players, along with Mordecai, included tight end Mason Pline, linebacker DeShaun White, offensive linemen Drake Nugent and Isaac Alarcon, as well as receiver Terique Owens, all took part in the drills.
